well, those pants aren’t exactly super flattering… but you can tell from her top half that she’s slim and fit! love her. =D

I thought it was HB too; the tan threw me off. And also they have similar shaped shoulders, although HB is an hourglass so her’s are wider.

Hey Versus, or anyone else for that matter, do your measurements determine what shape you are? Or is it our outward appearance that counts?
Sites say that you are an hourglass if your hips are 9 inches more than your waist and there is only a difference of 2″ between your hips and your bust. That said, a measurement of 33-23-35 would fall in this category, right? But what if, external-wise, you look more like a pear (with broad shoulders)? Does that make you a pear, or an hourglass?
Sorry, a little contemplation there. Anyway, JLH looks amazing and I dig her torso!
I would say that the appearance matters much more than the measurements – that’s why it’s hard to guess someone’s shape from measurements alone.
For example, when you are measuring the hips, you are measuring your butt too – so in the case of 33-23-35, you might have a big booty, but narrow hips, in which case you’re not an hourglass. Also, you might have a broad / thick back and A cup boobs, in which case again, you can’t be an hourglass. Also, your 23” waist may be very high or very low, you may have short legs, long legs, short torso, and on and on… these are all variables.
I totally disagree with the 9” difference as an indicator of body shapes. It can not possibly be a fixed number, it’s a percentage (waist is at most 70% of the bust / hips’ circumference). Think about it – 2 women with these “hourglassy” measurements and 9” difference:
33-23-35 – here, the waist is 66% of the hips
40-31-40 – here, the waist is 78% of the hips… this woman won’t look as curvy because the difference between the waist and the hips isn’t as dramatic.
hi Versus I was wondering something:
sometimes I read you’re an houreglass when your hips as broad as the shoulders and sometimes I read it’s when your hips are as wide as your bust

Both, really.
Hips = shoulders, meaning that when you stand up straight and look in the mirror, they are visually the same size, they are aligned.
Hips = bust, meaning that the actual measurement in inches or cm coincides. So like 36” bust and 36” hips.
Versus, I have a “funny” question:when we are talking about body shapes,are we talking about how the body looks from the front,or both from the front and the side:ex.Jessica Simpson looks hourglass from the front,but from the side she’s an apple!!!

I think all sides should be taken into account. Clothes help you optically change your shape, but an accurate estimation is done when the person is wearing… bikinis.
I don’t think that Jessica has the defined, tiny waist of an hourglass from any angle though, but a nice dress can certainly make her appear closer to an hourglass.
I can’t imagine its possible to have those sizes ands proportions, unless hourglasses have flat bums ^^

That was really easy, in my mind it could be no one else, she has a very distinctive body. I think shes gorgeous, face and body, I do not like the tan though, looks too dark and I think its fake as her hands and inner elbow look distincitvely lighter.

eww the pants. I hate the fabric, which is why i wouldn’t even wear them at home. Other than that she looks pretty. I don’t think she looks too tan, not that tan at all actually, having the skin tone that she has. I know some of my friends turn quite brown the minute sun hits them. Doesn’t look fake to me, but if it is i’d consider buying the product since i think it’s a nicer color than most fake tans i’ve seen.

Ugly outfit, but she’s a good example of a pretty pear-shaped woman. I think a lot of people tend to think very negatively of the pear shape because they only have the extreme image in their heads of a very disproportionate body.
Yes, it’s like some people think all pear shapes must be like a 30AA with a 45 inch @ss or something LOL.
I agree. I think people believe that all pear shapes look like Micha Barton, at her higher weight. The truth is you can be a slight pear, like JLH. I think she looks attractive and I didn’t even notice she was a pear until I looked closer.

Bony chest? Are we looking at the same picture? I see nothing bony about her chest. The only bone I see somewhat visible is her clavicle, but that’s normal for most people. It’s not like it’s portruding or anything.
A lot of pear shapes do tend to be bony in the top half of their body, but JLH is not one of them.
Those pants were a huge mistake.
i thought halle too…but jlh’s shoulders are a lot narrower…i prefer halles really. also JLH has smaller boobies than Halle. i never really understood the ‘Jenifer love Hugetits’ name because i never really thought they were that big?! especially considering she has hips to balance it out. usually i dont like her legs but as much as i can tell from those pants they actually look kinda shapely. which imo is nice. overall she looks fit! i hope she doesnt lose much more tho. she looks perfect
it seems like when she gains weight, some of it goes to her breasts. In pics of her with more weight on, she looked more top heavy, now they don’t look as big *to me…

I like her body. People have a negative preconception of pear shapes, but they can be really pretty and they’re feminine. I like narrow shoulders, tiny waists and wider hips. As for having a smaller bust, i don’t think that’s a “flaw” as such either. JLH looks great.
