Natalia Vodianova: Its better to be skinny than to be fat | hot models celebrity quotes beauty body image

30 year-old model Natalia Vodianova recently made a comment that fits perfectly with our niche and is already making heat on gossip sites – but let’s see the full story from NY Post:

Russian model Natalia Vodianova does not understand why models are criticized for being too thin.

“It’s better to be skinny than to be fat,” the seven time British Vogue covergirl said bluntly, while appearing on a panel at London’s 2012 Vogue Festival this weekend. The panel was comprised of fellow models Lily Cole, Eva Herzigova and Jourdan Dunn.

According to the Telegraph, a large percentage of the event was dedicated to discussing body image after British Vogue’s executive fashion director commented, “It’s undeniable that models are very thin, expected to be very thin, and thinner than 99.9 percent of the population.”

While Herzigova said that models are “just born with” a slim physique, Vodianova quickly jumped in explaining that maintaining her trim body is a conscious choice — one she works hard on.

“I respect my body, my body is my temple,” she said, quoting a common adage before speaking candidly. “If I eat like a pig, I am going to feel like a pig. Sometimes I have a huge, delicious five-star dinner with my grandparents with seven courses. In the morning you wake up and you feel like [bleep]. If I feel like that, okay, I am not going to be able to feel good about myself.”

When her fellow models began singing the praises of other body shapes, Vodianova cut them off.

C’mon guys, you know it’s better to be skinny than to be fat,” she said.

In a bizarre twist, the model’s comment was greeted with applause, the newspaper reports.

What do you think about Natalia’s comments? And what about Eva Herziegova’s words that models are ‘just born slim’?

Hilary Duff: I want my body back but Im not stressing about it | hilary duff celebrity quotes

Hilary Duff, who started exercising very soon after giving birth, revealed to Us Weekly that she isn’t stressed about losing the baby weight, although she does want to regain her figure.

“I just started about a week ago at SoulCycle and I’m addicted to it,” she tells Us about her newfound fitness obsession. “It’s a great workout and it’s perfect because it’s only forty-five minutes — where else can you sweat like that in forty-five minutes?” Still, Duff admits she’s not going to extremes to slim down.

“I’m not stressing about it. I’m working out because I honestly missed it during my pregnancy –- getting in that good, hard workout. I need endorphins in my life to be a happy person. I want my body back but I’m not freaked out or anything — just working out and trying to eat a little bit healthier.”

.. says Hilary, who gave birth one month ago.

On giving birth to her twins:
“Pregnancy was probably the best and the hardest thing I’ll ever go through. I know for a lot of women, it can be wonderful and relatively easy. But for me, it was like ‘Okay, honey, do you have to do everything the hard way?’”

On losing the baby weight thanks to Jenny Craig:
“I used to be able to slim down just by exercising more, but that’s changed. Since having the babies, I realize that 90 percent of losing weight is my diet.”

Lady Gaga: “Pop singers don’t eat”

Lady Gaga: Pop singers dont eat | lady gaga celebrity quotes beauty body image

A while ago, Lady Gaga revealed to the press that she struggled with bulimia in the past – and this week, ‘weight’ was the topic of one of the superstar’s tweets that did not go unnoticed. Details from Daily Mail:

A Twitter post from Lady Gaga about her diet and exercise regime has sparked a backlash from fans and eating disorder campaign groups. In a message to her nearly 23million followers the 26-year-old wrote: ‘Just killed back to back spin classes. Eating a salad dreaming of a cheeseburger #PopSingersDontEat #IWasBornThisWay’

The likely innocent joke backfired, though, with The National Eating Disorder Association responding with a tweet that read: ‘Huh? This is the same person who recently implored girls to stop dieting?’ The organisation was referring to the fact that, in February, Gaga publicly urged young women to cultivate a healthy body image, admitting that she had been bulimic in high school, and had been obsessed with being a ‘skinny little ballerina.’

While some of the singer’s fans defended the tweet, perceiving it as a sarcastic remark seasoned with irony, the majority of responses were negative. Many believe that eating disorders should never be joked about, although some fans are applauding the transparency of her comment, saying it raises awareness of the constant struggle in popular culture for women to convey a perfect body image.

… and has a little something to say about being too big as a model:

On her early days as a model:
“I was too curvy and too busty and a little too short. And I was a little bit self-conscious about it. But I was by no means heavy, I just—well, you have hips and boobs, and that’s it. Haute couture, you don’t really see girls with big boobs. And I always wanted first to be a model. So I had to say, ‘OK, you’re going to find other things to do in this industry, or it’s maybe not my industry.’”
