New mom Jessica Alba recently revealed on Twitter that she started exercising and dieting to lose the baby weight:

“I did my first day of workout since I had the baby, just cardio for 40 min. -it’s a start. Anyone else starting a fitness regimen?(sic) My doc told me I could start after 2 wks. -im going light, stationary bike and elliptical. Start with walking and throw in 3 sets of lunges 20 per leg. U could do it while strolling ur baby. Commit to 10 min a day for a wk then add another 10 until u get up 2 40 min a day. It’s easier to ease into it.(sic)”

As for her diet…

“I would keep ur diet as healthy as possible 6 days a wk and give urself 1 day to indulge.(sic)”

Portia de Rossi Brings the Quotes of the Day

Portia de Rossi Brings the Quotes of the Day | celebrity quotes

On how her eating disorder manifested:

My Trainer set my calorie intake for optimum weight loss at 1,400 calories a day. Without telling her, I reset it to 1,000. Within weeks, my weight fell from 130lb (9st 4lb) to 120lb (8st 8lb), then 115lb (8st 3lb). But I still saw bulging thighs in the mirror. I dropped to 800 calories a day and fine-tuned my work-out. Every morning I ran for 45 minutes on the treadmill. I followed that with exactly 105 sit-ups – I wanted to do 100, but the five extra sit-ups allowed for some sloppy ones. If I had time, I would also do leg lifts: 105 with each leg.

Around my treadmill at home I taped cards down the length of the wall: 111,110, 109, 108, 107, 106, 105. Each time I lost a pound I removed the relevant card. It was getting more difficult to lose weight as I got thinner, so I needed all the motivation I could muster.

Olivia Palermo Tells Us How She Stays Skinny | then and now

25 year-old socialite Olivia Palermo (who looked particularly skinny at the beginning of The City – see promo shot below) says that she doesn’t diet and that the secret to a thin figure is a healthy diet:

“When I’m home, I go to Whole Foods and get a lot of fresh fruit,” she tells me at the DKNY Sunglass Soiree held at NYC’s The Beach at Dream Downtown.

“I eat healthy in general. I like to eat as organic as possible. When I can, I try to do Bikram yoga. That’s about it. I don’t diet. I just continuously eat healthy. I make sure I eat healthfully every day, and I think that can make a huge difference with your diet.”

… says Olivia in OK! Magazine.

Is Victoria Beckham Dieting to Get Back to Size 0?

Is Victoria Beckham Dieting to Get Back to Size 0? | victoria beckham hollywood moms

Skinny icon Victoria Beckham seems to be on a strict weight loss journey after giving birth to her daughter last month – here’s the full story from Daily Mail:

After giving birth to Harper Seven last month and gaining 1st 7lb (11 kg / 24 lbs), Victoria Beckham has gone into hiding in a bid to get back to a svelte size zero.

The former Spice Girl has been following the new ‘Five Hands’ diet to taper her figure in time for a grand unveiling at New York Fashion Week from September 8-15. With a matter of weeks to go before she makes her return to the spotlight, Victoria has reportedly been sticking to the strict regime which consists of just five handfuls of food a day.

A source told the magazine that she has cut out sugar and has been snacking on miniscule portions of smoked salmon, prawns with chilli, yellow-fin tuna sushi and scrambled eggs.

‘Five days after giving birth, she started eating five high-protein meals a day accompanied by green vegetables, drinking gallons of water, and only snacking on goji berries and nuts.’

Following the birth of her three sons Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, eight, and Cruz, six, Victoria used a combination of Pilates and algae wraps – which reportedly shed 2-3lb a session – to regain her slender appearance.

Images of her after the birth of her first son Brooklyn, in 1999 sparked concern over her rapid weight loss. At the time, she said: “I had become Skeletal Spice. What upset me was I ate like any normal person… I wasn’t happy with how I looked.”

Jessica Alba: ‘I have 1,200 cals/day, I also work out, so basically I’m starving’

Jessica Alba: I have 1,200 cals/day, I also work out, so basically I’m starving | jessica alba celebrity quotes

Jessica Alba is featured in Lucky Magazine this month (though the photo-shoot clearly took place many months ago) and she has quite a few interesting revelations. It seems that Jessica, whose figure is highly admired on our site, confessed that ‘it sucks’ to diet, starve and work out.

Post-partum girdle: “I wear a girdle around my tummy from the moment I give birth until it doesn’t feel loosely goosey anymore—that takes a good two to three months. It’s spandex with Velcro.”

No maternity clothes? “I generally don’t wear many maternity clothes…but I am wearing maternity pantyhose, because I can’t fit into the other ones.”

On her meal plan to shape up after the baby: “I have a hard time with portion control, so I have 1,200 calorie meals delivered. But I also work out, so basically I’m starving—it sucks. I drink a lot of water.”

On her post-baby workout: “Working out everyday for even just 45 minutes is good for my mental state. But getting dressed and actually doing it is the worst. It’s hard to get motivated.”

On why she likes to be distracted at the gym: “In the gym, I have like five things to distract me: TV, iPod, magazines. Working partners are good, too, so you can chat and not just drown in your own misery. Sorry, does that sound bad? I just hate working out.”
