V Magazine will dedicate their January 2010 issue to plus-size models – this comes after Glamour Magazine featured “plus-size” models in in September (Lizzie Miller photo) and in their November “These Bodies are Beautiful at Every Size” article – see photo below.

“Big, little, pint-size, plus-size—every body is beautiful. And this issue is out to prove it” says editor-in-chief Steven Gan.

Surprisingly, Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld agreed to photograph the plus-size beauties (including Crystal Renn and burlesque dancer Miss Dirty Martini), even though in the past, he said things like…

“These are fat mummies sitting with their bags of crisps in front of the television, saying that thin models are ugly”

“No one wants to see round women.”

What do you guys think of this initiative? And of course: how do you like Crystal’s bikini body?

Kim Kardashian Shows Off and Talks About Her Figure, Episode 97499

Kim Kardashian Shows Off and Talks About Her Figure, Episode 97499 | kim kardashian khloe kardashian beauty body image

At this point, it’s a little sad and a little comical that Kim talks (and thinks) about her figure THIS much.

After last week Kim twitted a bikini picture that looked visibly stretched (or at least her body and face looked elongated because of the angle) to prove the fact that she has reached her weight goal (see the highly debated post HERE!), now she felt the need to post more proof on her blog that she is, indeed, as thin as she wants (a few days ago she was the advocate for curves in a magazine) and included her sister Khloe in the picture – a picture which, again, is taken from the same angle and has the same unrealistic, inaccurate result (proof: Khloe looks like a bobble-head, which she is not).

I Twittered one of these pics last week, but I wanted to share the rest with you guys here. I really feel like I have reached my fitness goal and now I am toned, fit and at a healthy weight and I just need to keep it up!

Getting fit is great, being informed on what to eat and how to dress for your body type is great as well, embracing and loving your figure is great, admiring and finding inspiration in other women is OK too, it’s all part of being the best you can be at a physical level – but if you spend most of your effort, energy and time on your looks alone, I’m wondering about how much effort, energy and time there are left to be the best you can be at an intellectual, emotional and spiritual level.

Ashlee Simpson: “My Sister Has an Incredible Body”

November 17, 2009 in Ashlee Simpson, Beauty & Body Image, Celebrity Quotes, Jessica Simpson by Versus

Ashlee Simpson: My Sister Has an Incredible Body | jessica simpson celebrity quotes beauty body image ashlee simpson

People Magazine’s got Ashlee’s words:

The Simpson ladies have been through their fair share of ups and downs this past year, but one thing they can always rely on? Each other. In fact, Ashlee, who’s reportedly set to make her Broadway debut as Chicago’s Roxy this December following the wrap of her role on Melrose Place, is defending her big sis in the December issue of Women’s Health. “My sister has an incredible body. I feel sorry for anyone who would judge her, because she’s one sexy lady,” the actress, 25, says of Jessica, who’s made headlines for her weight fluctuation. “It’s disgusting that people would say those things.”

And, as for her own body image, Simpson-Wentz adds the only person she wants to look good for is herself – and her husband, of course. “Pete isn’t worried about stretch marks,” the mother of 1-year-old Bronx says. “He always makes me feel sexy… There’s gonna be a time when I’m way curvier, and that’ll be sexy too. What defines sexy is not someone’s weight. Personally I like curves.

Cindy Crawford: “I Look Too Healthy”… to Be a Supermodel in 2009

Cindy Crawford: I Look Too Healthy... to Be a Supermodel in 2009 | hot models celebrity weight measurements

Here’s what Yahoo News says:

US former supermodel Cindy Crawford says she would have little chance of making it big in the fashion business today with her curvy figure, a German celebrity magazine reported Tuesday.

“I would not have become a supermodel in 2009. I look too healthy,” Crawford told Bunte.

“A body like mine with big breasts, normal thighs and toned upper arms” is no longer what the industry is looking for, she said.

Crawford, 43, said she was happy with her physique but worried about the effects of ageing like wrinkles and bulges.

“That’s why I like being in my 40s so much — being at peace with yourself, knowing about your strengths beyond being pretty,” she said.

Crawford, known for her trademark beauty spot above her upper lip, briefly studied chemical engineering before becoming one of the world’s most popular cover girls in the 1980s and 1990s.

If you’re wondering, Cindy’s stats are reported to be:

Height: 5’9” / 175 cm

Weight: 130 lbs / 59 kg (probably a bit more these days)

Real-Size Models Walked the Runway in Fashion Show

They’re not your average size 2 models and they’re not plus size models either – they’re real size models or normal size models, as in sizes 8-12.

And they’ve finally been incorporated in a fashion show, more precisely, in Mark Fast’s Spring 2010 Fashion Show.

Why did the designer choose them? Here’s the explanation from the creative director of the brand:

“The decision to use fuller girls is something we have been talking about. There’s an idea that only thin and slender women are able to wear Mark’s dresses and he wanted to combat that. We wanted women to know they didn’t have to be a size zero to wear a Mark Fast dress – curvier women can look even better in them.”

Hmm… ok, then they should have picked more flattering underwear (just a thought).

On a more important note, what do you guys think of the real-size models initiative? I mean, you’ve got the size 0-4 skinny models dominating the runways, we’ve got the occasional size 12 and up plus-size models as well… I always wonder why we don’t get more of the size 6-12 models, especially since so many women fall in this category? Even more, the majority of the typical skinny models are underweight (not saying that they’re not healthy, because some are naturally skinny) and the plus-size ones are mostly overweight (again – not saying that they’re not healthy, we can’t assume that)…

But it just makes sense that we need more models with healthy BMIs – and sizes 6-12 are a great source for that.

What do you guys think?

UPDATE: I am including 2 more pictures from the same show – skinny models this time. The look (hair and make-up) was unflattering for all of them. Check out after the jump!
