Interested? Let’s see some of Carrie’s tips! From Self Magazine:

Favorite ab improver: “When I gain weight, it’s in the spare-tire area. I’ve told trainers abs are a physical impossibility for me. And every single time, they’re like, ‘Well, we’ll get you abs!’ So do I have them? No! But they’re as flat as they’re probably going to get. Push-ups work out everything. If you do them right, you’ll feel it in your abs. I do four sets of 10 to 20.”

Workout motivation tricks:

1.) Make exercise accessible. “I have Exercise TV on cable. Jillian Michaels’s videos will kick your butt. She’s my trainer, and she doesn’t even know it!”

2.) Work toward an event. “Everybody has things they want to look nice for: anniversary, birthday, reunion. I’ll think to myself, Oh, that award show is coming up. Or, I have a photo shoot in four days! It’s nice to set goals.”

3.) Revel in success. “I love it when I feel good about myself. I’ll look at a photo and think, My arms look great!–and then I go work out my arms. Once you’re enjoying things about your body, you realize how much you want to keep them that way or make them better.”

“If I eat too much before a show, I just want to sit down. Too little, and I’m starving. So I eat something small, like Quorn, a tasty meat-free protein, and green beans.”
Keep a food diary. Carrie has been tracking her intake for three years! She counts her calories on a regular basis, to see how it all adds up. “Once you realize, it’s like, ‘No wonder I’ve plateaued! No wonder I’ve been gaining weight!’” she says. “Little things really do add up.”

“My food indulgences are pizza, and I love… cheese. I have a big problem controlling myself with the cheese.” Two years later, it looks like she found a way to have her pizza and eat it too! Here’s her recipe favorite formula for a healthy, 250-calorie personal pizza: 1 Flatout wrap with 1/4 cup sauce, 1/2 cup fat-free or 2% cheese and loaded up with veggies.

Jennifer Love Hewitt Continues the Pear-Ass Story

Jennifer Love Hewitt Continues the Pear Ass Story | jennifer love hewitt celebrity quotes beauty body image

Remember this little story?

Part 1:

“The first time Jamie saw me with nothing on was special and I wanted to look hot. I had all my hair pulled over one shoulder off my back,” she said. “When Jamie saw me, he said, ‘Hey, pear ass!’”

Part 2 is right here (from US Weekly):

Jennifer Love Hewitt — who was famously mocked for looking fuller-figured in a bikini in 2007 — says she almost dumped her boyfriend Jamie Kennedy when he called her “pear ass.”

“We had a rough patch in the beginning because the first time we went on vacation, I was going to be in a bikini, and I was very nervous,” she said Tuesday on the late-night TBS talk show Lopez Tonight.

“I heard him coming down the hall, so I got in the cute bikini position.

“And he goes, ‘Hey, my little pear ass.’ “I said, ‘I’m sorry, what did you say?’”

Hewitt, 30, then explained to Lopez that the remark wasn’t a compliment. “Have you ever seen a pear?” she asked. “It starts thin, it gets fat and it never gets thin again. It’s not cute. It’s not a cute fruit.”

She said they’ve since “worked it out” and now “we’ve embraced the pear.”

Kennedy “didn’t mean” the remark in a mean way, she added. Said Hewitt, “He thought it was a compliment, I think.”

Would you get upset to hear such a fruity comment from your boyfriend / husband?

Carrie Underwood Brings the Quotes of the Day | carrie underwood

“I carry all my stress weight, all my potato chip weight around my mid section. You’ve got to fight genetics sometimes.”

“I do not eat catering. I have a refrigerator on the bus and when we’re in a decent town that has a decent grocery store, I just go and stock up. My off days on the road are spent doing laundry and buying groceries.”

About her personal trainer Tony Greco:

“Is kicking my butt. I need it. Especially with a tour coming up and a wedding to look good for.”

… says Carrie in a radio interview.

Tyra Banks Expands the Definition of Beauty

December 22, 2009 in Beauty & Body Image, Celebrity Quotes, Tyra Banks by Versus

Tyra Banks Expands the Definition of Beauty | tyra banks celebrity quotes beauty body image

Tyra Banks just started a new campaign that focuses on extending the definitions of beauty. Because unlike what many media trends, Hollywood, pro-plastic surgery ideologies, Photoshop and others are intending to tell us on permanent or occasional basis , beauty DOES come in various forms, shapes, colors and sizes, it has infinite variations and infinite interpretations. Beauty is not a recipe that requires precise quantities of specific ingredients and it is not a pre-established, standardized formula that we all have to follow.

As Tyra says it, beauty is represented by one’s uniqueness and it is not something you can put inside a box. Let’s hear Tyra’s “PRO beauty diversity” message, straight from the source:

Women of every age, race, religion, and ethnicity have struggled in their lives with the narrow concept of beauty. The reason I created America’s Next Top Model was to show the world that girls of all kinds can be beautiful. Every girl’s unique look is important to me – from the thin, plus-sized, short, very tall, ebony to porcelain skinned, the quirky, clumsy, shy, outgoing and all in between.

It’s not easy though because many people still put beauty into a confining, narrow box. So now, I’m asking women around the world to make a pledge to expand their definition of beauty. To put all types of beauty into the spotlight.  Think outside of the box. It’s time for you to celebrate and help redefine beauty. Let’s rejoice and embrace “non-traditional beauty”.   Pledge that you will look in the mirror and find the unique beauty in you. I also ask that you spread love and positive beauty messages to others. Tell your friend, family member or even a stranger that their atypical features are flawless.
