Ginnifer Goodwin: At 9 years old I weighed about 10 lbs. less than now at 32 | ginnifer goodwin celebrity quotes beauty body image

Ginnifer Goodwin, who recently revealed that she’s been using Weight Watchers to control her weight since the age of 9, opened up more about her past weight problems:

“I began to identify myself as fat. At 9 years old I weighed about 10 lbs. less than what my weight is at 32. I needed to get help.”

“I ended up going to my mother crying. With the counseling of my family doctor, my mother ended up turning to Weight Watchers and their children’s program. I went to weekly meetings, got counseling and would exercise with my peers who were my size. It was the first time I saw a proper children’s portion size, and it wasn’t two burgers, it was one.”

“Her reaction was not, ‘Oh, I’ll help you get skinny. My mother’s reaction was, ‘Why don’t we all go and learn a little more about our health.”

“I see it happening and there’s nothing I can do about it. I want to fight it, I want to punch it out, get mad at it and argue with it, but gravity says, ‘I’m coming and I’m coming to get you!”

Kim Kardashian: ‘I don’t find myself as sexy as everyone thinks’

Kim Kardashian: I don’t find myself as sexy as everyone thinks | kim kardashian celebrity quotes beauty body image

Kim Kardashian embraced the cover and pages of Glamour Magazine this month and she revealed a few things on body image, insecurities and being a sex symbol in the interview:

Katie Couric: Because a lot of young women read this magazine, I wanted to ask you about issues you’ve had with your body in the past and growing up and being bullied. You developed early, is that true?
Kim Kardashian: Kourtney probably bullied me the most because she hadn’t developed. She was always making fun of me. I mean, when I was 11 I was a C-cup and I got my period. I was just insecure.

Katie Couric: But how did you sort of come to love, accept and appreciate the body you had?

Kim Kardashian: I remember I would sit in the bathtub, and I would put a hot washcloth on my boobs and think, Please, Lord, just please, I don’t want to grow any bigger. I would cry. My mom would say, “You are going to love this one day.” And she was like, “You’re Armenian. Look at all your aunts. They’re super curvy, and this is your family. This is who you are.” We were raised around all of our Armenian cousins, and I know a lot about the culture. So I think that made me confident in who I am.

Katie Couric: How do you feel about being a sex symbol? Is it empowering or degrading?
Kim Kardashian: It’s definitely powerful. I don’t find myself as sexy as everyone thinks. I’m a lot more insecure than people would assume, but with little stupid things. When I get dressed, I’m always so indecisive.

Heidi Montag: ‘I would love to not be ‘plastic girl’’

Heidi Montag: I would love to not be ‘plastic girl’ | heidi montag celebrity quotes beauty body image

Heidi Montag has something quite interesting to say about her plastic surgeries, the way they make her feel and the marks they left on her body:

“This past year has been the hardest year and craziest year of my life. It’s been a year since my surgery and that’s really when my life and whole world kind of turned upside down.”

“When I look in the mirror today, I don’t really know who I see. It is me and it’s not me. It’s a very weird situation. Sometimes I’ll run across an old photo and it’s actually shocking sometimes because I’ve been three different people. I’ve had three different faces.”

“Sometimes I wake up at night and I have chest pain, and… if I exercise a lot then I get sharp pains in my breasts sometimes. A lot of my scars won’t ever go away.”

“Parts of my body definitely look worse than they did presurgery. This is not what I signed up for.”

“The big dark mark from my chin reduction is probably the most noticeable. But the absolute worst is on my breasts, and the scariest is below my butt cheek,” Heidi tells Life & Style. “People have fewer scars from car accidents than I have on my body.”

“I would love to not be ‘plastic girl’ or whatever they call me. Surgery ruined my career and my personal life and just brought a lot of negativity into my world. I wish I could jump into a time machine and take it all back. Instead, I’m always going to feel like Edward Scissorhands.”

Amy Adams: ‘I wasn’t put on this earth to look good in a swimsuit’

December 20, 2010 in Beauty & Body Image, Celebrity Quotes by Versus

Amy Adams: I wasnt put on this earth to look good in a swimsuit | celebrity quotes beauty body image

New mom Amy Adams brings the Quote of the Day:

‘Being pregnant finally helped me understand what my true relationship was with my body – meaning that it wasn’t put on this earth to look good in a swimsuit. I was like, “Look, I can carry a baby! I’m gaining weight right, everything’s going well.” And I’ve had that relationship ever since.’

‘Some mum friends said it’s a good way to lose the baby weight, but I’ll do anything to get off of that treadmill. I’ve been working out when I can, and I’m trying to eat in a healthful way, but losing weight is not my number-one priority. It’s part of my job to return to some semblance of what I was before. But I don’t feel I’ve ever made my career on my rockin’ bod.’

… says Amy in the latest issue of Parade magazine.
