Skinny VS Curvy

We all noticed that Chritsina Aguilera gained some weight this past year and it seems that gossip magazines love to speculate on her weight – Star Magazine claims that the singer gained no less than 65 pounds (see cover above):

Star – Sources claim Christina Aguilera is “out of control.” She is “getting wasted a lot and just embarrassing herself.” Among her offenses: She “goes days without ever getting out of bed. She’ll have food brought to her, and she even drinks in bed too!”

Another source says: “Her dressing room is always littered with wine bottles.” And yeah, some stuff is not so nice, like how she left her son, Max, on his fourth birthday, to go get drunk. She and boyfriend Matt (who is “just in it for the ride”) went to dinner, where they had a few rounds of sake, and then to a club, where they ordered bathtub loads of vodka and cranberry and partied until last call.

But even more important than drowning her sorrows in booze is Christina’s weight, amirite? That’s why the mag offers a sidebar called “packing on the pounds.” Contrasting photos from Xtina’s “Genie In A Bottle” and “Dirrty” days — 1999 and 2002 — with current photos, as though any of us weighed the same at 18 years old as we do (or did) at 31.

175 lbs and 5’1.5” / 80 kg at 156 cm puts Christina in the obese range – do you think that sounds plausible? See comparisons below:

Here’s another celebrity that was kind enough to share her weight with us: Dita von Teese!

She’s 114 pounds (8.2 stones / 52 kg) at 5’6” (168 cm).

How come Dita revealed her weight, you ask? Well, her story started by saying that she got implants to repair her body after drug use. Here it is (from Contact Music):

DITA VON TEESE went under the knife for a boob job at the age of 21 – because years of drug abuse had ravaged her body.

The burlesque beauty admits she began dabbling with illegal substances when she was a teenager, and her habit spiraled out of control throughout the 1990s.

Von Teese confesses the drugs took a major toll on her figure, but seeing herself so gaunt gave her the motivation to kick her addictions and she eventually opted for surgery to repair the damage.

She says, “I was a bit of a party girl in the early ’90s and used LSD and Ecstasy. Eventually my weight dropped to 6stone 7lbs and I looked terrible, so I gave up drugs. My breasts never recovered, so when I was 21 I had 32D implants. Now I‘m a healthy 8 stone and 2 pounds.”

They’re not your average size 2 models and they’re not plus size models either – they’re real size models or normal size models, as in sizes 8-12.

And they’ve finally been incorporated in a fashion show, more precisely, in Mark Fast’s Spring 2010 Fashion Show.

Why did the designer choose them? Here’s the explanation from the creative director of the brand:

“The decision to use fuller girls is something we have been talking about. There’s an idea that only thin and slender women are able to wear Mark’s dresses and he wanted to combat that. We wanted women to know they didn’t have to be a size zero to wear a Mark Fast dress – curvier women can look even better in them.”

Hmm… ok, then they should have picked more flattering underwear (just a thought).

On a more important note, what do you guys think of the real-size models initiative? I mean, you’ve got the size 0-4 skinny models dominating the runways, we’ve got the occasional size 12 and up plus-size models as well… I always wonder why we don’t get more of the size 6-12 models, especially since so many women fall in this category? Even more, the majority of the typical skinny models are underweight (not saying that they’re not healthy, because some are naturally skinny) and the plus-size ones are mostly overweight (again – not saying that they’re not healthy, we can’t assume that)…

But it just makes sense that we need more models with healthy BMIs – and sizes 6-12 are a great source for that.

What do we have here? We’ve got 3 shapely sisters in 3 little black dresses posing prettily on the red carpet!

Khloe recently complained on the show that people call her “giant” or “amazonian woman”, even though she is only 5’9”. It’s all about the fact that she always poses next to her much shorter sisters: Kim is 5’2” and Kourtney is 5 feet tall. I even doubt that her BMI is (much) higher than Kim’s, because if you look at her, you can see that she is just: 1. Taller. 2. Shaped differently – she doesn’t have her sisters’ hourglass shape, but she looks great nonetheless.

How do you like the girls (and their dresses) here?

Tori Spelling has dropped to a frail 98 lbs. — and Star has learned that her mother is to blame!

In our April 13 issue — on sale today — we report that Candy Spelling, who the actress has been estranged from since December 2007, has ramped up the blood feud between mother and daughter by spilling many of Tori’s intimate secrets in a new tell-all, and the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum is so upset by it, she can’t even bring herself to eat.

“It’s not good,” warns an insider. “Tori’s so stressed over her mom’s new book, she has no appetite but is still exercising every day. Her friends are all worried that she may be anorexic. She’s now down to a size zero.”

Tori is 5’6”, so a 98 pounds weight would put her BMI around 15.8, severely underweight. A few weeks ago, it was reported that Lindsay Lohan (who is also 5’6”) is now 94 pounds – so what do you say?
