Rihanna’s Stage Outfit – Flattering or Unflattering?

Horizontal stripes on thighs… is not the first thing a style advisor would recommend a pear-shaped girl to wear, but Rihanna’s thought it looked great and wore this number on stage at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates yesterday night.

I think it is a little much to call her legs enormous! I agree they look larger than normal but I still think they look shapely and healthy and good on her. She is also wearing those stripes so obviously that is going to make them look wider. I think the outfit is obviously out there and weird but its Rihanna, that is what she likes to wear and I think she pulls it off fine. She is not wearing this out and about running errands or something it is a stage outfit. I am preparing myself for scrolling down glancing through these comments which I expect will go on and on about how gross and fat she is. I hope you girls on this site are just insecure and want to say mean things, that would be better than actually thinking this girl is fat which would mean you are probably unhealthy and much too thin. Everyone have a great day and stay healthy and happy don’t let the media make you feel like you have to live up to something.

well, I can’t wait to see all the comments about how fat she is and how people would never want to be her size and etc. You know, I realize this is a website about body size of famous people but all the eating disordered commenters on this site are making me not want to visit anymore. God this girl is like a size 6 maybe and I know we’re in for 47 comments about how gross she is. SIGH.
i agree, sometime i think this site is an outlet for anorexics. some of the most normal size women are called ‘fat’ by some people posting comments which is totally alien to me

Agree – I find it really odd and also hurtful as I’m just a regular weight myself (healthy BMI but not skinny).
I guess you just have to remember the a celebrity weight gossip site is going to attract those types of people and their opinion is not reflective of the main population.

That outfit is HORRIBLE. It CREATES lumps on her legs, making them look more untoned then they really are. I can’t believe anyone in their right mind would deliberately try to look like that.
So what I’m going to say is – her body is MEDIOCRE. She has looked eons better in the past then in the last period, I’m not reffering to when she was a teenager, or to her skinniest days, I’m talking about the period where she clearly worked out regularly, and maintained MAD curves, with a thin waist and shapely good-kind-of-thick thighs.
She has clearly gained pounds, and not of muscle, of fat. She has no tone whatsoever, and lately, she’s been losing her trademark thin waist looking more tubular, and pictures of severe cellulite have been taken – I know, cellulite is on everyone, but guess what, it shouldn’t be that severe on someone so young. And it gets diminished if you exercise.

I love how you’re ranting when nobody even said she was fat. Seriously I didn’t see a single comment that said that. Way to be presumptuous and get upset over nothing. She has gained weight but that doesn’t mean she’s fat now. Plus I think we can all agree she looks terrible in that outfit.

Actually I think it was Rihanna who started it with the crazy outfits – she’s just getting a little too extreme lately .
I have to admit – she looks terrible in that pic , then again those panties would even make Victoria look somewhat normal weight.

Her legs are looking thick but I wouldn’t say she’s fat at all. In fact, her legs look really shapely, long and nice. I just prefer slim legs.

It’s weird in her recent bikin pics (the pink one that was posted a few days ago) her thighs didn’t seem that big to me, but in these pics they look bigger. I guess it’s the stripes. I still like her body though. The outfit isn’t cute, but much of her stuff isn’t so yeah.

In the first picture it looks like she has a wicked tiny waist and then her legs bulge CRAZILY – which is not what her body looks like normally.

I have seen pics of her in that outfit that were taken from afar, i don’t know if i like the ensemble, but her body looked way better. Her silhouette actually looked really good IMHO, obv. there were no thigh lumps but also her body looked proprtionate etc, which makes me think that maybe this worked as a stage outfit just fine, for most of the audience anyway, who weren’t standing all that close to her
Maybe she wanted to show some skin without looking too daring or sexy, i’ve understood there were some concerns about the appropriativity of her costumes..

She is beautiful but her outfit choices are hideous – so are her statement choices (remember when she said she feels bad for your boyfriend if you don’t send him naked pics? – what a terrible message to send to her teenage fans).

I reckon if those lines went right upto her stomach it’d look better. The black bit which kinda covers her crotch adds to the thickness illusion.

everyone knows that horizontal stripes make you look heavier…Rihanna is not fat at all! But that outfit is SO unflattering! I don’t think she has “gained” either. I just think her ugly leggings are making her look heavier than she really is. I haven’t been feeling a few of her outfit choices lately. I feel like she is trying to stand out too much…kind of like another Lady Gaga figure, trying to be “original”. I love me some Gaga, but I can’t handle all of these look-alikes. Rihanna, just find a HOT outift that is FLATTERING, instead of trying to stand out.
her talent should be why she “stands out” not her clothes…If i were a performer, I would much rather hear people talk about my awesome show, or how great I sounded than my crazy outfit. idk, maybe that’s just me?
im sure that would happen to my thighs if i put them in too tight leggings. she should dress to flatter, especially when photos will be taken from below. we all know that angles not good for the lower body
