Debbie Allen Calls Raven-Symone “Heifer”

“Raven-Symone — who has received her share of criticism from online “haters” for her body — has found a new critic: Her Disney costar.
At a So You Think You Can Dance elimination taping Thursday in Los Angeles, Usmagazine.com caught up with That’s So Raven star Debbie Allen and asked her about the upcoming Fame movie, out Sept. 25. (Allen played Lydia Grant in the 1980s series.)
“It’s going to energize a whole new generation of young people who were not engaged in Fame the first time around,” Allen told Us. “It’s so funny we were talking about things coming full circle.”
She then told Us she is surprised that kids these days even know who she is. Then, she said, it dawns on her that she stars with tween sensation Symone in That’s So Raven.
Said Allen, “I was wondering how they knew me and then they say, ‘Do you know Raven?’ I’m like, ‘Of course, I know that little heifer! I love that girl.’”
In March Symone, 23, spoke with Seventeen at a self esteem workshop. She said she was “thick” ever since she was 9 years old. She said she would have benefited from workshops to cope with “that negative language” and understand that her life is “about me, not about what [people] want me to be.”

I think she was making a joke, since America seems to think fat people= curvy people… even though rolls do not equal curves….
I bet this is nothing but a publicity stunt, schemed by Raven’s people.

Considering that she said “I love that girl” right after, I feel like she was kidding and the comment was, of course, blown out of proportion. It’s probably an inside joke between them for all we know.
“Heifer” is a term used by Southern black people (I am one) – it just means like, kind of … like when white people say “What’s up, bitch!” It’s not anything really bad. It has nothing to do with weight.

raven was the cutest kid i’ve ever seen. she doesn’t look very healthy now (too much fat, too little tone) but she’s still got a very pretty face and would be without a doubt even more stunning, if she were at a normal weight.

i think raven is pretty and original and she loves herself. geez.
why don’t you just chill…having been obese myself, her body looks like mine did when I was overweight at 180+ pounds (I’m 5’4) and a size 16-18…and yes I have pics from those days, so no excuses about the camera making her look bigger than she is!! She is not at a healthy weight at all and based on her weight and size she’s not a good or healthy role model for women’s bodies, just like skinny women are equally bad role models for women. And yes I’m a fan of hers and think she has a beautiful face and a charming personality nonetheless.

Raven has a beautiful face, a kick ass personality and great style, I am a big fan of her and loved her show…but I’m sorry, she is not curvy, she is overweight, maybe even bordering on obese. That is more than just being ‘thick’. Her body looked best in the earlier seasons of ‘That’s so Raven’…thick, but still healthy looking.
I also remembered her being a normal-weight healthy child, so the ‘naturally-thick’ thing is just an excuse.
I was actually obese as a child and up to my mid teens, much bigger than she ever was, but adopting a healthy lifestyle took me down to a size 4, and I could go up to a size 8 when I’m being particularly naughty about my eating and slacking off exercise, but I’m never more than that. So blaming your genes for having a bigger body is always a bad and lazy excuse.
Anyways, regardless of her weight, she still rocks…I’m just saying it can’t be healthy to be at the size she is just like it can’t be healthy to be underweight/too skinny.
