Pregnant ‘Heroes’ star Ali Larter opened up about ‘eating everything’ these months:
“Stop eating? I eat everything!” Larter, 34, said Saturday while promoting her new film Resident Evil: Afterlife during Comic-Con in San Diego. “I bake myself strawberry shortcakes and then I wake up at three in the morning and I eat them.
“I love it because so much of the time, I have to be careful,” Larter says. “I work out. I play certain roles where it’s important for me to look a certain way. But now it’s just freedom. It’s like, bring on the Sprinkles cupcakes, pizza, pasta. I’m loving it!”

Sounds like she’s binging – binging after a starving diet. It isn’t healthy to have such radical changes in your eating habits.
Anyway, I don’t know who she is, but I think she looks good. Her outfit isn’t doing her any justice though, it’s actually quite unflattering.
Technically she should “binge”. She’s pregnant. If she wasnt you would make sense, but she is so she should be eating a lot. Its good for the baby.
actually, you’re not supposed to binge while pregnant. It’s not healt for you or your soon-to-be kid. At most, you add 200-300 calories to your diet if you’re not engaging in strenuous exercise. So an extra banana or piece of toast is all you need.
People take the “eating for two” thing too seriously. My sister and I are both six months pregnant and we hardly eat much more than usual! When you’re pregnant, you really don’t have to go out of your way to gain weight (unless you’re one of those women who have a very hard time gaining).
I know. Thats why I put quotations around the word. I was tryna say eat more, not technically stuff your face.

You should not go nuts restricting and working out to maintain something that’s almost impossible for your body.
Neither should you start acting like you’re a human garbage disposal. Going wild eating everything in sight with no restraint. Restraint is still a quality, even if you are pregnant.
A baby needs a LOT of nutrients, and you SHOULD eat more, and a great variety of things. But you can easily accomplish that by simply increasing the calories and maintaining the same moderate diet you do when you’re not pregnant.
Sugar and junk is just as bad to you when you’re pregnant, as when you’re not. But it’s a lot worse to a baby, since you know, it’s a BABY, it doesn’t have the same defences you have.
That being said, looking at her, and knowing what a Hollywood diet is like (ridiculous) what she’s eating now is probably something totally normal, just that to her, it’s amazingly lavish.
Something like: whoa, today I ate a slice of pizza and one home made cupcake. Aren’t I WILD?

While it’s true that pregnancy women should eat more, it’s really not THAT much more..she definitely should not be eating for 2! Plus, it’s actually incredibly unhealthy for the fetus if the mother gains an excessive amount of weight while pregnant (think Kate Hudson gaining 70 pounds!!!).
But yes, this is exactly why moderation is key. If you deprive yourself most of the time the temptation to binge will probably increase, it seems like pretty basic human behavior.
When I read what she had said in the interview, I was thinking whoa, that sounds like she is binging and eating loads of junk all the time! But then after reading what you said at the end of your comment, that judging by a) her appearance and b) she is a celebrity in hollywood, you are probably right, what she deems as letting loose and eating loads is probably actually not over-eating at all, she just feels like it is coz she is used to being hungry all the time or something. Lol.
Is it that you have to JUDGE eveything that’s posted here or what??
If you know what a Hollywood diet is then let her some room to do what she wants and not get judge for it!
i moderate myself when eating because I tend to gain weight very easily but sometimes I just want to eat something sweet, even when I know it won’t help me.. At least I get to choose weather I eat it or not. She can’t even do that because she’s a Hollywood celebrity.
And I bet you that even now, being pregnant and “free to eat what she wants”, they won’t let her “over eat”..
So really, stop just for a moment and think of the people talking.. And don’t judge just because “celebrities do this or that ’cause they’re celebs..!” …
I don’t think it’s judging, I think it’s having an opinion on the subject. Most of the comments aren’t saying what a horrible person she is (which would be juding), but rather, what a terrible idea that is.
I think this is what Gisele was referring to with her controversial comment that some mothers become “human garbage disposals.” Some women do use pregnancy as an excuse to go overboard. Does your less than 5 pound fetus really need cupcakes, pasta, and pizza? Is that really good nutrition for it? No. But after years of restricting, it’s easy for some women to convince themselves that they’re “eating for 2″ and finally indulging in the stuff they could never have, or in the quantities they could never have.
that is exactly what i was going to say! this is literally what gisele meant by saying women think it’s ok become a garbage disposal when pregnant. while i understand the cravings and urges must be boundless, it’s so so important to maintain a healthy diet for your baby.
when you think about it, so many Hollywood women have slowed their metabolism to a crawl by not eating (or sped it up using drugs they shouldn’t take while pregnant) that it really would be a miracle if any of them remembered how they’re supposed to eat.
I thought Gisele was a little stuck-up when she mentioned the garbage disposals, but now that I’m pregnant (and reading a lot of pregnancy boards) I’m beginning to know what she’s talking about– they say you should gain 20-25 lbs (if you were average weight), and yet some of these women gain 50-110 lbs!!

people do also tend to exaggerate. she’s nto being asked to list portions sizes and an exact account of what she eats, and if she gave it, it’d be a pretty boring interview!! can’t we just read it as she is normally quite disciplined and now she is relaxing those rules aa little and enjoying pregnancy. food is a pleasure, and being able to have a few more maughty treats is part of the fun of pregnancy. trust me something has to make up for the horrendous morning sickness!

she’s going to have the hardest time getting back into shape, especially if she had such a restrictive diet before.
You do get to take a nice vacation from typical body image hang ups while pregnant. Not that you always feel great about how you look-far from it, but some of the pressure is lifted. Most women who are as thin as Hollywood types (at least slightly underweight) would benefit from a 30-45 lb weight gain while pregnant. As long as she remains active, she won’t have any trouble whittling back down. Let her eat (stawberry short) cake!

haha i didnt read that she was pregnant and was wondering why she would delibaratley make herself fat…just because your pregnant doesn’t mean you should eat a whole lot of junk food…if anything eat more of the right healthy foods and that willl be better for the baby
she should be able to eat those things in moderation anyway. pizza and pasta aren’t going to kill the girl! she should be eating them in moderation while pregnant too, along with some healthy stuff.
You can tell she’s eating way too much sugar and junk. She doesn’t need to be super fat for it to show. Just look at her skin: it doesn’t have the pregnancy glow! That means the sugar is outweighing the glow.
Yeah.. that’s the way to be a good mom. Eat junk food while you’re pregnant… I’m sorry but pregnancy is THE time to eat extra healthy. Nothing wrong with giving in to pregnancy cravings, but most of what you eat goes to the baby. So if you’re eating like she does, not gonna be a healthy baby.
And no I’m not saying she isn’t eating healthy at all, she just ‘sounds’ so irresponsibly the way she’s binging on food just because she is pregnant, she is eating for two now and she should be extra careful with what she puts down her big mouth.

I also find it somewhat disturbing when I hear of celebrities gaining 40-50 lbs during pregnancies, here in the US. I was born in Moscow, and there were few women there that gained more than 20-30 pounds. While I agree that it’s healthy to increase your food intake to feed your child, no one should gain almost half their body weight in the process.
You know, if you’re underweight to start with, its REQUIRED to gain 40-50 pounds.
So yes, some people SHOULD gain almost half of their body weight in the process.

I’m sure she’s going to be kicking herself in like 10 months when the weight doesn’t come off, I get that you should enjoy yourself to some extent, but my friend recently became pregnant and we we were reading really your first trimester you dodn’t even need to eat more than normal! Second it’s like 300 cals extra a day and the last trimester it’s a little shy of 500 cals. That’s like an extra snack or mini meal, maybe a slice of cake or something, but nothing ridiculous and you deffinately shouldn’t be eating mainly junk. Look what happened to Kendra Wilkinson, then she was so suprised when the weight didn’t fall off and she still kept eating junk..helllooo you can’t gorge yourself and expect to be what you were.
I have always thought her to be very pretty but this is terrible she is using being pregnant as an excuse to over eat. I am not saying she should be on a strict diet. She should eat more healthy. She will have an awful hard time losing this weight and may never get back to wear she was. Too bad

To be honest, when I get pregnant I will probably end up eating more junk food, as will many other pregnant women without damaging themselves or their baby. She isn’t saying that pizza and cake makes up her entire diet, just that she doesnt feel so constricted anymore. I’m sure she will go back to her thin shape afterward with plenty of exercising and dieting, to continue her career.
Let her eat cake for the months she can I say.
Within moderation of course, I’m not condoning binging before anyone comes back at that!

She looks tired and puffy. As someone mentioned – where is the pregnancy glow? Giselle was talking about women like her with her ‘human garbage disposal’ comment. I would be more careful with my diet when pregnant because your child is soooooooo dependent on what you take in. Anyways, as was also said (don’t know what I’m reiterating) she will regret it later.
I’m very restrictive with what I eat normally. When I got pregnant I became more relaxed for sure, I mean you are bound to get bigger…I almost took it as “time off” and just enjoyed all kinds of foods more. I didn’t completely binge, but I would definitely enjoy more than normal.
I put on 48 pounds and was back in my jeans after 7 weeks of having my son, and actually down two sizes after that. Getting pregnant was the best thing I could do for my figure!
So, it doesn’t always come back to haunt you. Really depends on the woman.
shes going to regret that so much when the baby comes out! better to eat more of good things rather than more of everything.
I think people are being a tad too hard on her. She probably doesn’t eat THAT much, things get twisted in magazine interviews.
Also how can you not see the ‘glow’. It’s extremely evident from the first pic. Also the puffy face is probably fluid retention…again caused by pregnancy hormones!
I love a good binge now and then without being preggers and I can imagine the temptation increasing for me during pregnancy!
However, I want ensure that my baby has a good balance of nutrients and vitamins and I love healthy foods such as grilled fish, chicken with veg and potatoes or rice just as much if not more so than i love pizza and burgers so I’ll happy pig out on the former selection of foods.
So future father of my child: make sure you have great culinary skills and that you know what herbs go best with Salmon and how to prepare vegetables without overcooking them!
you would be shocked by what you’re recommended diet is when pregnant. Fish is pretty much off the menu for one thing. soemthing to do with toxic chemicals that are contained in low levels in them that can harm the foetus. nuts are banned too. course it changes all the time.
Mercury is in fish, it causes autism ion unborn babies.
Not all fish is high in mercury. A non-salt-water fish should be just fine in moderate amounts.
As Cathy says below if you believe everything you hear about diet during pregnancy you would probably only drink water.
Yes it true that fish contains some harmful toxins but it also contains many beneficial nutrients and there is no substantial evidence to say that it should be completely avoided during pregnancy.
There are health scares about many types of foods and whilst they should not be ignored they should not be taken as scripture either.
Many pregnant women have adopted balanced diets of the major food groups in healthy forms, i.e. without excess sugars and fats, and have given birth to healthy babies.
If you would listen to everything you hear about food while pregnant the only
things you would be allowed to eat would be vegetables and maybe ~ some fruits. One of my best friends is currently pregnant and god beware I don’t know where she is supposed to get her nutrients. No fish no eggs no milk no cheese and so on.
I agree Cathy and that’s why whilst I’ll listen to what is being said I won’t drop all common sense and believe everything!
It has been proven for a long time that a well balanced diet is the key to being healthy. Whilst it is true that preganant women have more cautions when it comes to food it does not make any sense that a large percentage of food groups suddenly become a danger to them. Raw eggs would be good to avoid because of salmonella risks but cooked eggs may not be a problem. Similarly certain types of cheeses and fish may not be safe not all of them are a danger.
Obviously the best thing to do would be to have a balanced diet that ensures the baby’s health in the best way, but i can understand wanting to indulge in not so nutricious food every now and then. I doubt she’s eating all junk, and a pizza and pasta can be quite nutritious too depending on the ingredients. Some extra fat and sugar aren’t going to kill the baby, and if you’ve been keeping a very close eye to your food for a long time to maintain your body, i don’t think it’s strange to even binge just a tad when the time comes that your body changes anyway in a drastic way. What i think is stupid is when sometimes the mom’s think pregancy is a REASON rather than a.. i’ll call it an opportunity, a nice excuse, to eat more, bc they think the baby needs so much calories. And then they whine about how much they gained when they were eating way too much. (But i do look at the likes of Giselle who really bounce back in a blink of an eye as a bit of superhumen

she is a grown up and i have confidence that she knows about nutrition and what is good for a baby and what not. i think it’s nothing more than a lighthearted comment about her being happy with being pregnant and the relaxed diet she can now follow…
I hate it how when someone is pregnant they say they are “eating for two”. Then they proceed to eat for two adults and wonder why they gained so much during the pregnancy. Yes you are eating for two, but not two fully grown people. Sometimes I feel like women use pregnancy as an excuse to go nuts and eat whatever they want. I don’t think stuffing your face with cupcakes and pizza is going to give the fetus the nutrients it needs to grow strong and healthy. I guess this subject frustrates me because I know someone who recently gave birth. During her pregnancy she ate crap: donuts, cake, cookies, and even drank coffee! Of course she rationalized the whole thing and it just really disgusted me.

when i was pregnant, i ate what i wanted, because its worse to fell hungry and when you want cake, or candy, just get it, because the stress is worse when you refuse what you want… i put maybe 12 kilos while pregnant, and lost that weight and even more after 9 month without diets and sports.
while pregnant most important is feeling relaxed, not thinking about vegetables and diet!!!

When you’re pregnant, you don’t have to “eat for two.” That’s the same as saying that you eat for you and someone equivalent to you (same height, frame, size, weight), and the last time I checked a baby isn’t that big.
So eat for 1 and 1/5 or 2/5. Although the way people eat nowadays, pregnant woman probably don’t have to “eat more” in order to satisfy her essential needs.
