Valerie Bertinelli Shows Off Her Bikini Body in People Magazine
March 26, 2009 in Celebrity Weight & Measurements, Photoshop Job by Versus

Age: 48
Height: 5’4”
Weight: 132 lbs (once 172 lbs, lost 40 lbs in 9 months with Jenny Craig)
And an interesting part of the interview:
And so – after about a year of exercising on her own while losing weight, primarily by walking 10,000 steps a day – she hired a personal trainer in December. Before long she was running up to five times a week. During what she calls the bikini “homestretch” – the last three weeks – she trimmed her daily caloric intake from 1,700 to around 1,200, and gave up her regular “splurge” glass of champagne. “It was crunch time,” she says, “like getting ready for your class reunion!”
The result? Bertinelli says she is now in the best shape of her life. “I never, ever, ever had deltoids!” she says. “Oh my God, when I’m doing exercises and I see them pop out, I’m like, Yes!”
Furthermore, People Magazine‘s Galina Espinoza tells Extra that the cover pic is not deceiving, but admits to minimal airbrushing.

im so happy for her, she did an amazing job. badly photoshopped thighs though, weird lines?
She looks awesome!
Minimal photoshopping? That’s bull! I’m 5’8″, weigh 129 pounds and I don’t look like that.
So you think because you are taller and weigh less you should look better?
Two words for you: body composition.
I agree Leanne is right I am 5’5 and 120 pounds my sister is also 5’5 and 110 pounds but she looks ‘CURVIER’ it’s all about the body type
Who is she anyway?
hahahaha minimal photoshopping. FYI, I am a photoshop retouching queeeen! I can spot it from a mile away and wow they did a number on her. Not only did they do a shitty job on her arms and legs ( crazy uneven lines all over the place and not a smoot line) but her entire body and face are covered in a smoothing blue. WOWWW
I know she did lose 40 pounds BUT it was a bad photoshop ewwww !
You know, I’m not sure if that is a bad photoshop job. It could also be the result of scanning the cover and editing the file size, or changing the file type. I’ve seen that happen when I scan some of my pictures, it gets those weird stuttery/choppy lines in it when I edit the file size, or change the file type from .bit to .jpeg(not sure if I have those right, but I hope you can figure out what I mean
).
And the Photoshoppe Award goes to….
i wonder if i would still have my belly piercing in at 48…???
i’m 5’4″ and 115 and there is NO way she looks like that @ 132! the photoshopping looks terrible. if you are going to go on a magazine cover for losing weight and being so proud of yourself then really be yourself on it.
what kind of a message is she sending??? LAME
I’m 5’6 and 135 and I look like that. She sounds like she works out a lot…so she probably has a lot of muscle mass, which adds weight.
I agree with mommy @home, let it all be the inspiration for ordinary people, imperfections and all, we would love to see them. say no to photoshopping. enough is enough.
the photoshopping is terrible
well done on the weight loss tho!!
Me-OW! Put away the claws, ladies. After 43 years of photography and 13 years of Photoshopping, I’m bemused by all of you self-appointed “experts.” First off, it’s a commercial magazine cover which is also indirectly promoting a weight loss sponsor. D’ya THINK they’re gonna show EVERY stretch mark, mole, bruise, vein, etc. she has just so she appears “real” to YOU? Most celebrities have NO say in what happens to their images once the check’s been cashed. Search Holly Marie Combs’ comments about her Maxim cover shoot, e.g., and see how she marvelled at how they “gave her boobs.” Many of the lines, ripples, overpixillation, etc., that you see in Net photos are from poor quality scan reproduction of images which are then OVERsharpened by amateurs along the way to being [re]posted. As for shadows in a photo being “wrong,” I can only assume you’ve never heard of Stouffen boxes, reflectors and flash umbrellas. I don’t believe Bertinelli’s boobs were ‘Shopped, her suit top was, shall we say, well-engineered. And you’re looking for “reality” in cyberspace?? Bottom line is: she lost a lot of weight (and having lost 70 pounds myself 30 years ago I know just how excruciating that is), she looks pretty good for a mom of 48, and deserves credit just for succeeding regardless of how. We should all be so fortunate as to look halfway decent after 45 and having had any kids, divorces, losses, illnesses, addictions, etc.
Have you seen her Jenny Craig commercial with the blue bikini?? She looks great – no photoshopping in a commercial. Also, I read that she had her belly pierced back in the late 90s.
