Madonna’s Louis Vuitton Ad Is Insanely Photoshopped
June 27, 2009 in Madonna, Photoshop Job by Versus

This one looks ridiculously plastic, just like a mannequin! The Daily Mail says it all:
Madonna somehow always manages to hold the ageing process back, however for her latest campaign she seems to have turned back time. But the lengths to which Louis Vuitton has gone to keep Madonna looking eternally youthful may be a bit extreme, with the Material Girl looking almost plastic in this latest ad. In particular, the fingers of her right hand seem to have been stuck on – are they someone else’s? Or just bleached to white through airbrushing?
Photo editors seem to have shaved at least 20 years off the megastar, leaving her looking more like Sophie Dahl than her true 50-year-old self. In place of her typically veiny hands – renowned for giving away the true age of a woman – her fingers were smooth and slender. In the ad, Madonna looks ethereal as she reclines in a blue armchair were a burgundy taffeta dress, lacy fingerless gloves and pink bunny ears – similar to the antenna-style headwear she wore to the Costume Institute Gala earlier this year.
While Madonna is in undeniably good shape for a 50-year-old woman, she looks far too young to be a mother-of-four in the new shots for Louis Vuitton’s Autumn/Winter ‘09 collection. The Vogue singer posed for acclaimed photographer Steven Meisel, who shot her controversial 1992 book Sex, who also took the previous season’s ad. The latest campaign makes Madonna look a little more innocent than what has come before. The last Louis Vuitton advertisement in December was certainly more raunchy.
The singer has reportedly been paid £6.5million for the campaign.

yeah, where are her veiny arms, bulging biceps, and sunken in face. If I had seen this ad in a magazine, I wouldn’t even know it was her.
it looks as if someone her just place her in a chair…
i agree, i wouldn’t have recognized her either.
Let me first say that I think it’s great to see that over the years, her dedication to remaining in good health has been steady.
But her seeming obsession with fitness and youth are a bit disturbing to me as of late.
Obviously, she was not the one responsible for the terrible photoshopping done here, but I can’t see her really complaining about the results. I think this is actually the look she is attempting to acheive with the ridiculous amount of botox she has received over the years.
But you all are right; it doesn’t even look like a real person. Not hot.
I think the purpose IS to make her look like a mannequin. It’s about ART, not about a realistic photoshoot; every catalogue has it’s own theme. And, plastic or not, we all have to admit Madonna looks amazing for her age.
Thank you, thank you, and thank you again. It annoys me to tears when people complain so much about the editing when the shoot is obviously not intended to look ‘natural’. A lot of people in general do not realize that most high fashion photo editing is indeed an art.
If you don’t expect an oil painting to look natural, don’t expect an edited photo to look natural. Madonna is stunning.
You are right. Sole problem is that between art and kitch, the line may be too subtile for some. And it’s so damn easy to be kitch not artistic. And this ad is not on the right side, imo.
Well I wanted to be smart and say that first, but noooo YOU had to do it…lol..the thing is-yes, I absolutly agree..
Sorry, but there is aibrushing witch I understand. But Maddona is plastic looking and totally manaquin looking, please that is just unreconisablex Cant spell at the moment (bit drunk, sorry)
Well, I might be the only one here, but I’m glad they photoshopped the hell out of her. This woman is so damn ugly, veiny, wrinkled(waaaay too wrinkled for her age), with an ugly muscled dry body and with that I’m-the-best-f**k-the-rest face that makes me wanna barf. So this add makes her look a lot better. Even if I’m not a photoshop fan at all.
Wow…I can`t tell if they hired Madonna or her wax replica at the museum for this ad. It`s just too artificial for my taste. I would have liked a bit more Madonna and much less photoshop.
that looks nothing like her
honestly, they could have gotten ANYONE to sit for this ad – then copy and past some semblance of madonna’s face on the body and you’ve got this campaign.
i understand there’s supposed to be an element of whimsy – but this is a bit much.
ha ha, well i just got to think this was made on purpose, sonce even her positioning makes her look like a mannequin
she looks like she’s unable to hunch her back the way real people do when they lay in a chair. she’s a barbie here! if the rest of the campaign pics are similar, this might work. after all, the human-doll theme is kind of in now
*sonce –> since
She looks more like Lourdes than herself Hahah
She looks stiff and completely fake.
