It’s not “conservative”, but it’s not as if she got all three assets out. I think the general rule of thumb is boobs OR legs OR back. Whether or not it’s a nice dress though is a completely different matter….

I think we are forgetting “conservative” is a subjective term. It is all relative to one’s world view. George Bush II thought he was conservative yet Paleoconservatives thought he was not.
The word doesn’t have some standard litmus test. Considering what she thinks in usually appropriate I’d say this probably is conservative for her.

I think it’s her “I don’t see what the fuss is about” comment that is causing the backlash.
She may have different view of conservative, but I think she could definetly see what’s causing the fuss. Having a different opinion than the majority doesn’t mean you can’t understand how the majority thinks.
I think she just said it because she’s being overlooked by the other celebrities’ styles at the Golden Globes. She needed to do something to get noticed.

You can have a strapless short dress on and look more conservative, it’s not all about covering your legs or arms. I think what makes the dress look daring is not only the huge cleavage, but also the very tight fit. Totally Mariah.

The dress is totally OK, I think it’s her figure what makes it look not conservative. If she were a thin woman, her boobs wouldn’t be huge, she wouldn’t look like she’s about to burst out of the dress, and the whole thing wouldn’t look VULGAR.

I really, really believe that she doesn’t actually think that her dress was conservative.
She might have different ideas of what conservative is, but I think even the most skewed person with any intelligence can tell that the majority of people don’t consider a dress that shows most of your giant breasts as conservative, and thus wouldn’t say it is conservative in an interview.
I feel like she almost said it for the shock value, and to draw even more attention to what she wore at the globes.
By the way, I hated her dress. Doesn’t look good on her at all.

Back off Mariah. She’s talented, pretty, and, yes, that dress was relatively conservative. Very much in the vein of what others were wearing.
Other people might think it didn’t look good, but I thought she looked great, especially compared to what some of the other stars were wearing.

i dont think its that bad..it really only looks bad cause shes so big chested. i do think that the dress is ugly though, and the way it hugs her is just so bad because she does not have a good silluete(sp?) to hug. when you have bumps and love handles a tight dress only shows it all much more. she needs a dress that wont hug her stomach so tight. maybe a greek goddess kinda dress

P.P.S I would like to add we live live in north america were it is legal to go topless . Well at least, thats the way it is in Canada. This legislation was based on the fact that men go shirtless all time, some men even have fattier tissue than woman. And it was based on a whole other load of gender inequailtes.

* I don’t actaully think a woman’s breasts size defiens her sex appeal but I don’t think ehr breast size defines her purity either. I happen to be skinny with naturally large breasts, and I get this all the time. It just really fustrates me and I want to get pass the excuse if you view big breated woman with cleavage negatively you most be jealous. I think we live in a society with flawed view points and I just wanted to address them.
I don’t object to the dress because it is low cut; I object to it because it’s far too tight for her and not at all flattering. You can see it clinging to the bottom of her (probably very tiny) belly, which is not a good look. She would have been better off in something more akin to what Christina Hendricks is wearing who, despite an even larger cleavage, looks classy and elegant (yet still very sexy).
