Vanessa Minnillo (29), Lauren Conrad (24) and Anna Paquin (28) all showed off their slim legs this week in 3 pairs of short shorts… all hem-less daisy dukes.

I like Vanessa’s outfit the best. Personally, I don’t think anyone over the age of 25 should wear shorts that short…but that’s just me, I just think it is an extremely young look.

Are you saying that as soon as a woman turns 24, regardless of how she looks, she should just throw all her cut-offs away?
I agree that it is a youthful look but if you’ve got the body for it, why not wear it? It’s casual attire.
most numbers in life are arbitrary. Why can people buy cigarettes at 18, but not at 17 or 19 or 17.5? why is the legal drinking age 21 and not 20 or 19? To me 25 signals the end of adolescence and emerging adulthood. And I don’t like this attitude of “if you have the body for it…” because that makes it seem like some people should not be allowed to wear pieces of clothing if they don’t fit the cookie cutter mold of size 0 – 4. But then again, these girls don’t have “real” jobs where they have to present themselves a certain way to be taken seriously, so I guess the idea of dressing age appropriately doesn’t really apply to them.
25 the end of adolescence? seriously? I mean everyone views things differently but I mean im 22 I have been living independently for years working and paying my own way, my body stopped developing its shape years ago, puberty was 10 years ago, I have some friends with young children already, I am an adult in every sense of the word, physically, finacially, legally. Trust me I would like to think I was still an adolescent lol, but at my age, people would just tell me to grow up.
anyway, I dont think short shorts are just for adolesents, I know lots of people over 25 who would wear shorts like that, and look great while doing so. And they are celebrities. I just dont get whats inappropriate about it. Sure you wouldnt wear those shorts to work but on the weekend, why not?

actually, if you read the most current issues of developmental psychology magazines you will find the most developentalists today believe that adolescence/emerging adulthood is stretching more and more into the 20′s. This doesn’t mean physical maturation (although the brain does continue to develop until around the age of 25), but it means in terms of social and economic responsibilities.
of course, like with most population based research these are averages, so of course there will exceptions to these rules – and you are clearly one of them.
Anyway, I would recommend googling Lawrence Steinberg and Jeffrey Arnette, they are both leading scholars in the field of adolescent psychology.
clearly I am a layman on the subject compared to you (well I am total layman asides from some psychology in college but that is nothing serious), but then so would be most people. Most people dont read Lawrence Steinburg, so most people arent going to look at a 24 year old and think, “oh she’s just an adolescent, because this is what leading psychologists in the field are saying about development”. And, really, does anyone look at an outfit someone is wearing and think – “that is not suitible for her” based on something from psychology magazines? Really, I dont know anyone who would do that, so it seems a moot point. Maybe there is a minority who are concerned with that but I think most people when it comes to clothing just consider what is flattering and situationally appropriate (not a suit on the beach, or a bikini in the city, lol, lady gaga excused
) and though age does come into it (the expression “mutton dressed as lamb” comes to mind) thats really not something applied to people in their 20′s.
how old are you? seems like an immature comment imo, why does age determine someone’s clothing style? Im sure there are a lot of 25yr old women that look better in short shorts then younger girls do…esp cuz a lot of young girls dont have a shape to their body yet…people can wear whatever they want. You must be one of those girls that puts a label on everyone and has no mind of her own, scared to wear white shoes before laybor day..thats a shame if this is the case, why be so uptight? I think all women should where whatever the hell they want, even if its terrible, if their happy, let them be.
mizzy- seriously? lay off the poor girl. i agree with snoops, no one is reading that psycho babble bs. anyone can say whatever they want and call it scientific research. are you saying something 25 should stop wearing bikinis too? i am 25 and i wear short shorts because long shorts make me look dumpy since i have long skinny legs. you wont catch me dead in a pair of longer shorts. i wouldnt wear them to inappropriate places, but on the weekend, running errands, going out around town….hell yes. guess i gotta get my non existent full piece suit out ladies….i have entered the world of being considering an old bird at the ripe old age of 25. give me a break.
Actually (and this might be quite annoying) but scientists are seriously considering adding a new stage of life “emerging adulthood” that would include people in their mid 20s. So emerging adulthood, in fact, does not end until your late 20s/early 30s. That’s sort of just a fact. Eeek.
Oh, and I think Anna Paquin is amazing. Her talent is endless and she outshines these other two women (on of whom is famous for doing absolutely nothing).
but surely if that is the case, then it would be MORE acceptable to wear short shorts after 25???
Like Lauren’s outfit best, but Vanessa’s legs. Anna looks fine but the shorts and skin being so light is throwing me off….Overall all look great!
I like vanessas outfit best, I also like her legs best, I have never really been a fan of laurens legs, there is nothing wrong with them but I don’t find them particularly attractive either. I think she would look better in a skirt rather than shorts, its just something about her upper thighs, I cant put my finger on it.
