A few days ago, US Magazine published an article about Forever 21′s upcomming plus-size line and the same article mentioned Kim Kardashian’s name:
“Here’s a little faith for fuller-figured fashionistas: On May 1, they can try on a new Plus-Size line, Faith 21, from hip bargain chain Forever 21. (Kim Kardashian is a fan).”

I feel that this clipping from Us Magazine is a bit misleading, so I wanted to comment on it.
I am a huge fan of Forever 21 and I’m very happy they have expanded their line to include a plus-size range, but I am not in that size category and this article makes it sound like I am! I am a curvy girl and I love my curves, but curvy and plus-sized are two very different things. I work really hard to maintain my curves while staying slim and healthy, so to be classed as a “fuller-figured woman” of extra large proportions is a little offensive.
For the record, I am a size 2, not 2XL.
Hmm… I don’t think that this response was necessary, really (and many visitors on her blog agree). Firstly, because they aren’t really calling Kim “full-figured” and secondly, because she shouldn’t get so offended even if they did. What do YOU all think?
Oh, and thirdly, Kim looks AMAZING, but why oh why does she have to defend her size all the time? One minute she’s the proud curvy girl (which, I think, is the right attitude) and the next minute she is trying to convince us that she’s a size 2 (even though her measurements are 34-26-39, her words). A few months back, Kim was saying “Stylists would bring me a size 6 or 8, and they had to come back with 2’s and 4’s. I am only 117 lbs!”.
What are your thoughts?
I totally agree with you…at one point she embraces her curves but then she constantly mentions how she is not really that heavy…
Doesn’t make her seem too happy with her body image in the eyes of her fans…
Seriously stop moaning and stop defending yourself. You talk and talk and talk about being curvy and loving it and bla bla bla but the minute someone is saying something about your body, you are out there defending yourself. And stop trying be a role model to girls/women and feeding them with how much you like your curves and how comfortable you are with yourself when its shows the exact opposite everytime someone mentions your body or weight.
And for the record you are not a size 2 and those measurement are so insane that I actually laugh when I see them.

Those measurements aren’t actually that insane, especially for a Middle Eastern woman. I’m 34-25-37, with a small frame, and her hips look bigger than mine, and ass is definitely a lot bigger than mine! If you go to Lebanon, Iran, or other places you will see a LOT of woman who are naturally very curvy but have tiny waists, it’s just the ethnic genes.
And btw, I am size 2, so I can believe she is a size2/4.
maybe her top half, waist and legs are a size 2 but her butt is a size 12, she has to have her pants altered, my mother is shaped just like Kim, she has a small waist and large butt and all her pants have to be larger and taken in at the legs and waist so maybe her pants are a size 2 after she gets a bigger size and has them fitted to her waist!

Her top half o the body is not thin – nevermind size 2 skinny. It’s definitely not just her booty which isn’t size 2 skinny, her thighs, hips and legs are curvyish/thickish as well.
I don’t really see how those measurements are “insane”. I’m 5’5″ with measurements 34-25-38 and 120lbs. I’ve lost some weight, but I used to have the exact same measurements as Kim 10lbs ago.
Clearly she is very sensitive about her size. The part about her being a fan isn’t even in the same sentence and has nothing to do with this plus-size range: they can’t say ‘Kim is a fan of this plus-size range’ if it hasn’t even come out yet! She must be very insecure to assume it is and immediately jump to her blog to confirm her ‘true’ size.
I know this will get a lot of negative comments, but it is obvious that deep down inside she would rather be a size 2 than the current size she is now. She isn’t as fond about her curves as people on this site are. She can’t win though as if she worked hard enough to be a size 2, she’d be criticized for losing the weight unhealthily. Too bad for her, she really can’t win.
I think Kim looks great, but I’m sorry, there is no way that butt fits into a size 2. Plain and simple.

Haha ya!! I am a 34-26-38 and my hips are far too wide for size 2. Since when is saying size 6 or 8 such a catastrophic event??
Those are my measurements as well and whilst my waist might technically be a size 2 or 4 my 38 inch butt still needs a good size 6.
I think Kim has a great figure, there is nothing wrong with being a size 6 instead of a 2.
She looks fit and healthy and that’s all that matters.

yes followed by a stomach that hung over her pants kinda like extreme muffin tops cause like no lie her legs were sticks! but i guess she could be overweight( i mean now she is. when we were in high school her legs were so small and stomach was so huge but now its almost chubby all over) but the point im trying to make is pant size doesn’t always define everything.

I think Kim is gorgeous, however, her rear is a little large for her frame. She is beautiful and she knows it but she seems to remain insecure regarding her size. She is not a size 2, more like a 10 or larger and THAT’S OKAY! Her measurements are nowhere close to what she lists them as. I’m not sure why she chose to respond to this article at all.
Her measurements appear to be accurate, ie. 34-26-39. I know because I’m the same height and similar size. But it’s just the clothes sizes I don’t get. I wouldn’t put her bigger than a size 8 though and that’s only because of her butt.
Remember she’s only 5ft2 so what might look like a size 10 at average height of 5ft6 will probably be a size 8 at her height.
I called this one yesterday: Liar, liar, pants on fire. I am Kim’s height, and my measurements are 34 C (I am pretty sure she is a D),26,35. I am 122lbs and I am a size 4/6. I am not saying that she isn’t a size 2, but considering we have similar measurements (supposedly) and are the same height, I find it really hard to believe that she is a size 2. I mean, I can squeeze into a size 2, but I will have a muffin top and look disgusting, so maybe that is what she means by that she is a size 2. Just because you can fit into something, doesn’t mean that’s your size.
And also, I don’t think the article was saying that she was a fan of the plus size clothes, I think it was suggesting that she was a fan of the brand Forever 21, so that just goes to show she is overly defensive and obviously has body image issues. Couldn’t have said it better myself…..I don’t think anyone has ever referred to her as fat in life. She needs to represent for the non size 2′s wether a 6 or a 16……I think people would totally respect her more if she stopped flip flopping back and forth. If she’s happy with her curves (which I think are beautiful) she should stand by her beliefs with conviction. What about all her young fans? Way to confuse them even more man, There’s no hope for young girls. I wouldn’t have hurt her to not comment. I couldn’t agree more. My measurements are 34-25-38 and am 5’5 have NO butt (thanks to my mom’s genes) and wear a size two. If I had a butt like Kim’s, there would be no way I would wear a size two. I might be able to squeeze into them but thats it. I can squeeze into a 00 (jeans from when I was much smaller) but my stomach protrudes out of the pants. If I followed Kim’s example I would say I took a size 00, which by my measurements is obviously innaccurate- I do not have the measurements of Tori Spelling! Why is it such a big deal for her to admit her actual size? I would say maybe Kourtney could fit into a size two but definately not Kim!

So therefore a size 2 over there is a size 6 or 8? over here in the UK, and honestly she is not a size 2/6/8. Total bullshit. The slim models are size 2/6 and below! Can’t she just be happy with her stunning body.

I’m a Brit who has lived in North America. Size 2 is meant to be size 4 in the UK, but due to vanity sizing it is more like a size 6/8 or a solid 8, as you thought.
I am a size 2/6-8 and the same height as Kim. Comparing her body and measurements to mine I think she is a 6/10 or larger (because of her breasts and butt). She is stockier than I am all over.

I was thinking the same thing…I’m a 34-27-37 and a size two would squeeze my buttcheeks and thighs in all the wrong places. A size 2 empire or a-line dress fitting her I can believe (as I can very easily fit in one), but not any type of bottoms (unless they are made 100% out of lycra or spandex).

Ok I am 5’9″ and 117 pounds. I wear a 4. There’s no way in hell kims giant ass fits in a size 2. She’s dreaming. And I still think she had butt implants. Sorry but I’ve never seen proportions like that. Or maybe she just had a ton of lipo on her midsection. Either way I bet she’s a 6/8.
My sis-in-law has an even bigger butt than Kim and it is 100% real. Those kind of huge backsides can exist naturally (don’t know about Kim’s though).

She looks bigger here but probably because she’s in flats. I’m 5’2 and about 125lbs, but I wear a UK Size 8 or 10. Though….I have shopped in the US and I find the sizing is way larger, I usually have to drop to a US 2. It always gives me that little boost

It just goes to show that she’s truly not comfortable with her size. I think one major reason for her defense is because she’s trying to push her no workout video…trying to make that money.

i definately would have to agree with Kim that shes not a 2XL but there is no way in hell her wide ass is a 5/2 size 2 and 117. i have a cousin thats kims height and weighs 110. so i know damn well kim isnt 7lbs bigger than her. she must have left a “1″ off because i would guess her size at a 10 or 12 and weight i would say about 130-140lbs. she must had posted Kourtneys weight. lol!
Well weight doesn’t tell the whole story. If you are bottom heavy and light framed then you may weigh less than someone else who’s weight is spread more evenly with a heavier frame and be the same size.
And while I agree those measurements are not a size 2 she is not size 10-12 either. A 39 inch butt makes her a size 8 at most and her upper body is technically a size 4 probably putting her at around a size 6 in most clothes (where there is no vanity sizing).

A size 2 “jean” made primarily of spandex…which stretches…alot… inevitably making her legs look like sausages in too tight of a casing….with a muffin on top… No WAY she fits into a size 2 in “real” jeans (you no the kind with little to no stretch) the wouldn’t make it up past her mid thigh. She’s gorgeous though

She does appear to fib but she can’t help it because she rates her looks so much and her figure (whether real or not), she must be THE perfect woman for men – which she already knows she is widely considered. She won’t be losing any weight, believe me, she loves her curves, she just hates people suggesting that she is big because she is petite. She is just deeply insecure and needs discussion and constant attention on her looks and reassurance about how beautiful and perfect she is ( esp. compared to most women). Get it???
I get it 100%. I’m the same way except about my thinness, I would love to be curvy like Kim. But no matter how beautiful a woman is, in this society where looks are so important, how could she not be self-concious?
Actually, it could be possible for Kim to wear a size 2. Remember, clothing manufacturers have their own “2′s” that are different from other “2′s”.
I’m 5’1, almost 5’2. My measurements are 34-25-36 and sometimes a 2 is TOO big. I have small bones and from looking at Kim’s pictures, she has a relatively small frame. I also like to think that the camera adds extra pounds to her and thus she doesn’t really look that big in person but because she has curves it makes her appear bigger than she is.
I think the poor girl only wants a bit of attention. Maybe if we all said “YAWN, yes you are Size 2 (0), we believe you, yawn” then she will be happy to start saying she actually has a size 10-12 butt.

I think that Kim is probably a size two in dresses and some tops, because her waist is quite small. And there is that video of her wearing size 27s (which were probably stretch denim). I am 32-25.5-35.5, weigh 130 and I’m just under 5’8. I wear a 26 or a 27. She may not be a pants size 2, but she’s certainly not plus sized. I wouldn’t put her above a size 6. Clearly, even if she were thinner, her backside would always be larger in proportion to the rest of her. It’s just her shape. People usually think I weigh a lot less because my frame is on the big size so I’m pretty bony. Her stomach is perfectly flat, so I think it’s insane that people think she’s big – not everyone is waify!

I have to say if those are her measurements she can fit into SOME size 2 jeans and 4s for sure. I am 24-26- 38 and wear size xs in Lucy work out gear, size 2 in guess dear devil jeans, lucky (not the super low cut those are 4s), and gap. Girls with bigger hips just don’t buy the supper low cut jeans. I know it is vanity sizing but those are my sizes. I just bought a dress that is a size 0. I am just saying sizes are nothing to truly judge a person on. She is small but maybe should focus on toning rather than fighting all the criticism. You admit that you fit in SOME size 2s, whereas Kim is saying she is a size 2, full stop. When I was in North America I was mostly a size 2 (34-25-35 and same height as Kim). In some stores I would fit anywhere from a 0 to a 000, but that doesn’t mean I would go around claiming to be a 000 across the board! I think that is why people are rolling their eyes so much because it seems obvious Kim is claiming she is a 2 everywhere when it’s likely it is only in a few stores.

Curvy and plus size are too different things. Kim is what i consider curvy because she doesnt have excess fat. Raven Simone or Queen Latifa are considered plus size. Curves are equivalent to an hourglass figure in my opinion.

I’m 5’6″ and 100lbs. While I am fully aware that I am an unhealthy weight (Im actually trying to GAIN 20 lbs.), I can say with full honesty that I am a size 2. For Kim to be as well is complete insanity.
By her coming back with “Im not THAT big” or basically what she said, I think would have made alot of those women (who were sold into the Forever 21 ad) feel fat and huge. She seemed to really only be thinking about her own name in her response, she didn’t think about the feelings of her fans. I would also like to add that I think Ms. Kardishian is absolutely stunning and quite possibly has one of the best bodies in the world in my opinion. Curves are beautiful.
I feel your pain; I was 5’5 and weighed 102 for a long time. I am now 121 (after 2 kids) and I absolutely LOVE my butt!

When I was at my skinniest I weighed 95 pounds at 5´3 and was a size 2. Who is she trying to fool? There´s no way she fits into a size to. She looks like an 8 at least.

honestly, it really depends on where you shop. I am only 5 feet tall, but because of my pear shape, I do not look as lean as women that are above 5’5 yet are sizes larger than me.
Depending on where I shop and the cut of the clothes ( Ann Taylor, Gap, Macys, etc) I can be anywhere from a size 00 to a size 6……seriously!

I have to agree, I can’t see her fitting into a 2. I’d think more like 6. I don’t know if she’s in denial or what. She says she’s proud of her curves but surely she’s not a size two like she also claims. She’d do more good to embrace the truth and show you can be beautiful without being rail thin or the sort of stereotyped idea of the Hollywood size two, which she is trying to ascribe falsely to herself even though she’s obviously curvier than that image.

Ugh, I think shes fairly comfortable in her own skin, what she was saying is curvy and plus size are two different things. I have the same kind of bod she does, and I hate it when people put me in the same category with obese women, I’m a size 7, I consider that to be an average size.
I understand where you are coming from…most people think I’m thin/fit, unless they themselves are freaking tiny, but if you are really really small, anything or anyone next to you will seem large. And some people think that anyone over a size 2 is fat, even if by medical standards they are healthy.
lol, i saw her shopping in beverly hills when i was back home in l.a. for winter break. i personally think she has a fantastic figure, but after seeing her in real life, there is no freaking way she’s a 2. i’m 5’4″ and fairly slender, and there is no way she is a smaller size than me. my guess? a 6 or 8…at least. with that bum, no way in hell she could squeeze into a 2.

Just out of curiosty, what are the measurements for a US size 2? I can’t really comment on Kims body because I’m trying to convert to New Zealand sizes. I think it’s the equivalent to a Aus/NZ size 6 but I’m not 100% sure.
Maybe shes defensive about her size cause there are idiots out here who make her feel this way. So many people call girls who are totally not big, fat. If someone is curvy, there are people who will call her fat or chunky. Its horrible. Maybe if society wasnt the way it is, she wouldnt feel the need to defened herself. By lying about her weight and just the way she defended herself was in a way that could very easily make the very same girls who were attracted to the Forever 21 ad because of her, feel very bad about themselves when she was basically saying “Ew Im not THAT big” (I’m aware those werent her words, nor her intentions, however thats the message it sends.) I call BS. I wear size 0/2 pants, and I have 33” hips. There is no way someone with 39” hips can COMFORTABLY fit into a size 2.

I the same height and very similar measurements with same shape and were a FOUR but then again I don’t purchase the expensive clothes she has either. I tried on a Prada coat the other day and it was a “0″ that fit very well. So, if you don’t purchase name brand clothes at her level you kinda don’t have anything to say.

I love Kim’s body and think that she has the one of the sexiest waist to hip ratios in the business. That being said she is not a size two. As a girl with very large breasts I know that dresses are cut to fit very a very standard figure. If your body isn’t that standard figure you have to buy a dress to fit your largest part and then get it taken for your smaller parts. I would guess that Kim wears probably at least a six or an eight to fit her hips and booty and gets her dresses taken in to fit her slim waist. Nothing wrong with that at all. I would love to see her come out and say that. Dress size doesn’t mean shit and someone with a body like hers should know that.

It could also very well be she’s just referring to a dress size and not pant size. I’m 5’8 and 34-25-38. There’s no freaking way I’d EVER be able to get my butt into a size 2 pant, but every single one of my pants are a size 4, with 6′s becoming too large around the waist. She may get things altered to be tighter around her waist and looser around her booty.
If she’s referring to dresses than yes — size 2′s abound in my closet, so I don’t doubt they do in hers as well. She very well could be a 2, especially since she tends to wear skintight things.
In the end, regardless of dress size, all I know is dang…the girl looks good.
