Yet another celebrity that joined the redhead bunch: Kelly Clarkson!

Bleh, this does nothing for her but make her look worse. The ONLY thing that will improve her appearance would be to lose about 68 lbs.

68 lbs? That is a large amount of weight to lose, and I doubt she needs to lose more than half that number. I’m not saying she doesn’t need to lose any weight, I do think she’s gotten heavy and should lose if she can, but I don’t think she’s that heavy.
Lol 68 is such a specific number. Why not 65 or 70?
Anyway, I think she’d look good with 30 pounds less. She’s not grossly fat, just a little overweight.
LOL I laughed when I saw that too, just because why not go for 70 or something haha. But yeah I agree, I think if she lost 52 she would look good. Haha kidding. No but really 50 pounds seems like she would be more comfortable.
Exactly, Casey. She’s 5’4″, med to large build, so I’d say her ideal weight range is somewhere between 135 and 145 lbs(going by a guess based on my own build, which is med to large, I’m 5’2″ and my best weight at her age was between 130 and 140 lbs.), and I wouldn’t put her current weight over 175 lbs., that’s why I don’t think she needs to lose any more than 30 to 35 lbs. Definitely not 50 lbs or more. I think the best picture of her I’ve seen is one where she’s in a bikini:

I think that shows she’s not a slim built girl(I guess “thick” would be a good description?), so I don’t think it would work for her to lose enough to get to “slim”, which would be thin/skinny for her.
Good lord….68 pounds? Are you a dietician or something? You obviously have no clue what you’re talking abotu, because if she lost 68 pounds she would be deathly thin. If she’s happy then that’s all that matters, she is in this career for her singing and she does that part well. And she isn’t huge, sure she’s a little chunky but she’s not obese as people here seem to think. its sad to see people like you be brainwashed by hollywood and thinking that a normal body is stick thin….everyone is different sizes and shapes.
This colour looks terrible, IMO. It’s not red, not even ginger! She definitely can’t pull this hair colour off.

It’s sad to see her like this. She’s obviously not taking care, and that is very sad, because she was so cute before, and she is so talented. I hope she will find her way again <3

She’s happy, is there anything wrong with that? She does exercise and stays happy. I don’t know if you know but she had to bust her butt and work ridiculously hard to get to be the weight she was at during the Breakaway era, and I dont think she was happy.
omg HORRIBLE HOT MESS! I could go on and on but I won’t because I actually like her but I don’t know. God forgive me but she’s always been the luther vandross of her pop/rock cohorts her weight goes up and down like a yo yo. Also she has never really had great style/makeup except around the time when she made that cd that has “since you’ve been gone” and “behind those hazel eyes”. Paging Rachel Zoe or Monica Rose line one!
I had the same color when I used ColorOops to get black dye out of my hair (I’m naturally blonde). Brings back unpleasant memories.
It’s a horrible color. Looks very faded out and does nothing for her complexion.

Agreed bottle redhead as in light red not like the purple/plum colours just don’t look right out of a bottle. They just end up looking like bleachin gone wrong.
Yea, I was going to say a purply-red would work for her. I died my hair “Hibiscus” once(I don’t remember the brand), and when I first saw it I thought it was a bit too dark and purply, but after a few days, I really liked the color. Unfortunately, my skin is too sensitive for chemicals like that anymore
I feel like women can dye their hair a very artificial red color (like Christina Hendricks) but no one can hope to emulate a natural red color. It is too complex, rare, and beautiful.
She looks horrible in my opinion, and I’m not even referring to her body shape/size. She looks looks lazy and sloppy, like she is in terrible need of a shower.

Amazing how she would just ruin her career like this. The fact of the matter is that being in the entertainment field is a package deal. You need to be able to both perform and be appealing to your audience. Not to say that obese people aren’t successful, but if she were to take care of herself and look attractive, she would get so much more press. More press and attention mean more sales.
She did the unthinkable, she won American Idle. But this is actually more unthinkable than winning American Idle..
Firstly, it’s “Idol” not “Idle” ,although it’s really ironic you spelled it that way.
Secondly, and most importantly-You don’t know much about her business do you? Kelly Clarkson was never cute. Never. She’s always been average and bordering on “dumpy” most of her career. She’s already got a solid fanbase. People don’t just pack up and leave the fan club because you got fat. Elvis got fat and people still worship him. She doesn’t need press considering the level she’s already at. She’ll get press regardless because of music videos, morning shows, etc. etc. You don’t get banned from those simply cause you are fat. If she had been known for being some sexy, cute, little poptart ala Britney Spears you might be right, but Clarkson has never been Spears.

I read your comment but I was surprised to see it was written by you ann, since you go on and on about how the only way to be successful in the media is if you’re attractive, and how unattractive people don’t have much success. We don’t consider fat attractive. I think jjj has a point. But then again, maybe Kelly didn’t want fame and success? She did earn enough money to live a comfortable lifestyle.
Kelly was always unattractive by most standards and got where she was in spite of that. So what would it matter if she was still unattractive?

i think alot of people agree with me when i say britney has def “lost” her looks, and she is much heavier than when she was when she started out. she went mental, was all over the tabloids, and doesnt dance like she used too. yet she still sells out tours, and had to add more dates for the demand. i guess looks arent everything then.
I have to say this because it seems to be flying over people’s heads. Clarkson was never Spears. She was never trading off her “cute ass”. So what is she losing? Different rules for a different game. If she makes a terrible record she’ll suffer. I’m pretty sure she’ll drop some weight in the near future though. I really don’t give two craps if you think she’s ugly. It doesn’t affect her singing career because that was never a selling point of hers.

I disagree with your comments. The point of American “Idle” is to be an Idol for America. Part of it is a package deal, being able to be a great singer, good personality, and good looks. Kelly had all of that when she was in contest and won it. Towards the end of the show, she wasn’t much different in body size than Britney Spears is now (maybe a few pounds heavier).
She had the innocent girl next door look, if she kept herself healthy, followed through, she certainly would be far ahead of what she is now. I certainly don’t see the same attraction of people to Kelly that I see for someone like Carrie Underwood.

You do realize ugly people are voting too right? She’s not Spears. She never made her image a central selling point. That’s what you are not getting. If you make your image a central selling point then yes you will suffer. If you think Clarkson was ever a standard hollywood sexpot I’d have to question if you have some kind of vision problem. As for Carrie Underwood, the comparison is kinda moot. If she got fat she’d still sell too. She does country. There’s alot fat females in country music. That section of American doesn’t tend to care.
I guess those images just help prove my point.. She was really not much different in size than Britney is now. Although debatable, she might have been prettier than Britney. I certainly don’t think Kelly was ever a “standard hollywood sexpot”, nor would I say Britney was by my standards. However she certainly was a cute girl who could have made herself cuter with a little work. Being that she was in the spotlight, she had all of the opportunity right in front of her to probably double her record sales.
How many teenagers and 20ish people go out and buy the latest CD based on who has the look and popularity? That is one of the major factors in selling music. Heck, radio has play lists that are based on who is ‘in’. It really isn’t even an argument that keeping your self attractive, more presentable, will get you the most attention. Radio play lists are almost entirely based off of opinion, popularity, and connections, not talent. That is the stuff that sells in stores.

She IS huge, and looks unconfortable, sad, and unhealthy. She should stop overeating, eat the right foods and start exercising. Not even for her career, just for her well-being.

The hair is a mess but i don’t mind her weight. I definitely don’t agree that you’d have to have looks to make it in the music industry (i agree they still play a big role). Sure it’s a huge factor when you’re a pop singer, but there are musicians out there, that just focus on the music, not the showbizzz, of course they might not be the ones that make millions and billions (unless you’re a badass rocker or such things), and are on the cover of every magazine. Kelly is a pop singer though, but i think she has managed to create a career where her style and looks matter to a certain point, but she’s more about the voice than about the looks, also she doesn’t have these huge stage shows with all the tricks in the world, which enables the focus on her voice rather than the superficial things. I think she’ll be just fine. But i prefer her as a blonde.
i love kelly and always have so im not trying to be mean but she did gain tons of weight at least 30+ pounds but that’s ok because bigger girls can be beautiful too. but every single picture of her since this weight gain she is wearing little to no makeup. come on kelly you’re still a celeb and you still get your pictures taken daily at least leave the house looking presentable.

It’s all subjective but Kelly was definitely above-average cute. Maybe not naturally but the Hollywood machine did its job. I think it’s naive to think image doesn’t play a part in any stars career. She needs to have the whole package, can’t be one-dimensional and rely solely on her voice. Her record company wont want to make videos as it’s too hard to edit out the unflattering bits, she’d be too unfit to withstand a rigorous tour, all spells disaster for her career.

I’m so disappointed in how Kelly Clarkson’s career has gone. She’s definitely taken risks that haven’t seemed to be logically calculated. She should have kept producing for the studios with their backing, staging and handling but hardly gave that a chance before giving them the finger and going out on her own… except she didn’t end up on her own after all did she? NO, she jumped on REBA McEntires train and then really was micro managed into the ground by them but pretended to be loving every minute of it. Reba got more mileage out of Kelly than vice versa, and Reba didn’t even need it. When Kelly let Reba duet and do that “Sidewalk” song and video with her I couldn’t believe how bad it sounded. That was Kelly’s baby…and she did it beautifully on her own! Reba should have never touched it! Wonder why this girl has gained weight and decided on RED hair…take one guess. Sad.
