Keira Knightley’s Airbrushed Chanel Ad
August 20, 2009 in Keira Knightley, Photoshop Job by Versus

Here we go again – take stunning Keira Knightley, undress her till… almost topless, then transform her A-cup bust into a nice, yet fake B cup, then place her on the newest Chanel ad. The Daily Mail has the details:
Brushed up nicely: Keira Knightley in the new Chanel advert appears to have a digitally-enhanced bust. And she is certainly looking particularly buxom bearing in mind she has bemoaned her lack of curves in the past. Stripped to the waist her chest is covered only by a pair of braces, with her bust looking noticeably fuller that usual.
Airbrushing expert Chris Bickmore said Miss Knightley’s skin had been smoothed and her chest enlarged.
‘Her face has definitely been retouched, there are no lines or wrinkles at all,’ he said. ’The whites in her eyes have been made a cleaner white and there are no lines on her neck, body or even the back of her hand where there would definitely be some detail. ‘Her breast has had some shading added to it to give it the effect of being rounder and more pert and it has also been increased in size slightly.’
Yesterday Liberal Democrat MP Lynne Featherstone, who has been campaigning against excessive airbrushing in advertisements along with fellow MP Jo Swinson said advertisers should point out where images have been altered. She said:
‘Keira is a beautiful woman and that’s the point. ’If the image has been airbrushed then people need to know so they don’t try and achieve what is totally unrealistic. ’Young girls especially will try and aspire to things which often they can’t achieve and which will leave them feeling bad about themselves. ’Where an image has been altered and retouched, we are simply saying there needs to be a symbol showing what has been done and where.’
The actress attracted controversy in 2004 when she revealed that the publicity posters for her film King Arthur had been digitally altered. While the British posters displayed her natural boyish look, the American ones showed her with a clearly inflated chest.
‘Those things certainly weren’t mine,’ she told a U.S. magazine at the time (see picture below). ’We had an interesting discussion when they said, “We want to make them slightly larger and you’ll get approval’ and I was like, “OK, fine. I honestly don’t give a s***”. ‘She then admitted in 2006: ‘I don’t have any t***,so I can’t show cleavage.’
It’s not just Knightley’s small bust which has attracted attention.
Last year the actress’s mother Sharman Macdonald denied that her daughter had an eating disorder, saying she has simply inherited her naturally skinny physique from her father, 63-year-old actor Will Knightley. She said her daughter has never had to diet but instead followed a special eating plan – high in protein and carbohydrates – to keep weight on. Miss Macdonald, 58, claimed the actress must ‘eat like a horse’ to keep herself at a healthy weight. Last night a spokesman for Chanel refused to say whether or not the star’s figure had been digitally altered saying: ‘We have no comment.’
Real Keira VS Photoshopped Keira *check out the bust* for King Arthur in the U.S.:

This makes me pretty angry and I will never-ever understand it.

Why pay money to have someone in your campaign or magazine, pay for lighting, makeup and photography, if you’re just going to totally alter the end result?
Why not just find a pic of the celebrity online and play around with it in photoshop? Seems cheaper and you will still end up with photo shopped pics
I still think Keira is gorgeous
Everyone always says ‘stick thin is in in Hollywood’, but if it really were 100% in, wouldn’t small breasts or flat chests be more acceptable? I am glad that curvier women are becoming accepted (such as Christina Hendricks. I enjoy the variety), but when are small breasts (a natural and common association with slimness) going to be accepted?
On Keira’s small frame, those photoshopped boobs could easily be a C cup. (Cup sizes shrink with band sizes.)
I think it’s rude that people think if a girl is flat-chested she might have an ED. I also have very tiny breasts (AA cup or even less) and even at a healthy weight they won’t become an A or even B cup.
keira is brave to not get plastic surgery! It’s all in your genes. weight can’t change your proportions.
What do you mean “even at a healthy weight?” Are you contradicting your own point here? You say that people assume that women with tiny breasts have ED’s, when you yourself purport to be below a healthy weight.
I can speak to this point though. I’ve always had tiny breasts, and for my height, I’m exactly where I should be weight-wise. I was actually the most confident with my body when I was completely flat, as I could wear low-cut revealing numbers without worry. There are celebrities who flaunt their small chests. Look at Amanda Peet in Saving Silverman, or Kelly Ripa, or Kristen Belle in Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
Unfortunately, now I’m on the pill and have morphed into a B-cup. No one ever told me boobs are a pain in the ass.
Trying being a DD, it’s murder! lol But on the point of bodies, everyone is different. At a size 2, I was a D, so even if I lost weight, I can’t say how much my boobs would have shrunk. On the other hand, my Mom used to be severely underweight (AA cup.) She’s now at a healthy weight and her boobs haven’t grown even to an A.
It’s so hard to judge someone out of their weight in proportion to boob size.
It’s sick, take an extremely beautiful girl and turn her into a poreless dummy which is only acceptable once made only vaguely humanoid…
she’s the person with less boobs that i’ve ever seen
this is the person with worse grammar that i’ve ever seen
These are the people who do not capitalise.
This is the person who didn’t get I was trying to parody.
Thanks for the laugh, guys.
Ha ha to all of it

Touche!
Re: King Arthur airbriushing.
Not only did they smooth out her face and give her bigger breasts, they actually made her *skinnier*! Look at the arms and waist.
It’s *Keira Knightley* for chrissake – when will women be skinny enough????
I thought that! How they hell have they made her thinner?!
But.. I don’t really care either way, I never quite understand the moral outrage over airbrushing or airplumping or whatever..
Just *beep* ridiculous. Yea, I don’t like Keira’s body, and I do think she’s too thin, but dammit, photoshop is a lousy, over-used tool that needs to go away.
I really love Keira Knightly as an actress. People are always saying she’s too skinny, but if you really look at her body, she’s clearly a pear shape… granted, she’s the tiniest pear shape I’ve ever seen.
At this point, why even bother starting with a real photo if you’re going to alter to within an inch of being completely computer generated?
She doesn’t have a perfect body but her face is gorgeous. Almost perfect, I’d say.
I still think she looks great, but she definitely doesn’t need that inflated bust. Her smaller boobs really suit her. I’m still pretty sure she’s naturally skinny, she has been too skinny in the past, but now, I think she’s at a healthy level of skinniness, for her. Those boobs look ridiculous though, she looks GOOD without them, those ones they’ve shoved on her there look like mine and mine are a good DD-E cup – mind you, my back size is only 28-30. I think she is just naturally tiny though – her frame and everything, and you can see that she carries her weight on her lower body on most photos.
Too bad she let them do that. She looks much better natural with her natural bust. She has a very nice natural body, I’d rather not see her ruined..
Just let her be skinny and less clevage-y. She looks good, natural, not scary skinny. She`s not ED material.
I love to see an actress with a small chest, because I have an A-B cup size and sometimes, when I see photoshoped pictures, I start wandering if there`s anyting wrong with me. So, thanks Versus!
LOL I just saw this ad in Sep. ’09 Glamour Mag.(Jessica Simpson on the cover, she looks photoshopped too, digital weight loss
). In the mag., the shirt is actually covering most of her chest(her left shoulder is bare), with the suspenders and necklace on the outside of it.
She slim, and she doesn’t have many curves. But that’s the way she is! If they want ‘Keira’ for the ad, they should should keep Keira they way she is. It’s wrong to promote impossible bodies to anyone who sees these ads. She is fine the way she looks!
wow check out her upper arm in the ad…it’s even smaller than the average woman’s fore arm…how can that be healthy.
I don’t remember her being this skinny when she first appeared in the Hollywood scene.
I’m a big advocate of loving what nature has given you — whether that’s a small-bust or hourglass curves. When you’re as beautiful as Keira, no pretence is necessary. Why some advertising exec wants to impose his/her idea of what is attractive & marketable is beyond me. Put that airbrush away & stop trying to fix what isn’t broken, I say.
fit but needs her bangers doing
