A small WHR is absolutely fine but for crying out loud it’s the swimsuit edition of SI! They should have curvy chicks. How this girl became a model is beyond me. If she were cute it’d be okay, but her face removed*. And she acts like the most popular girl in highschool–annoying, trashy, holier than thou. I dunno I guess I am just not at all pleased with the trashy, big boobed, blonde hair, blue eyed American slore look. And please don’t take that the wrong way, blonde hair is fabulous as are pretty blue eyes, but Kate just looks like she belongs in a trailer truck bikini calendar.
I also think the fact she’s 19 shows through in all of her photos.

I don’t see the problem with her lack of whr, they always have several models on the swimsuit edition and they all have their on shape, and are attractive in their own way, which I think is great, I don’t see why they would all have to be hourglasses or whatever, people have different tastes.

To me, compared to other models that have graced the cover of SI, Kate is a butterface to the max. Personal opinion of course. And in america a LOT can be forgiven about a women if she has big knockers. It’s ridiculous. Why can’t one of the veterans been on the cover? Like Jessica frigging Gomes? Why did this young n00b get it? Why? Because of stupid American men. Not all American men but definitely the ones who run this magazine. And why is the cover shot the one where she has the least amount of coverage?
Chi- the more of your comments I read, the more you come across as unduly angry and bitter. Yes, I get that everyone has different preferences, but calling someone “butterface slore”, and saying things like “ALL this chick has are her jail bait age and her boobies,” not to mention whatever the other statement was you made that got removed, has crossed the line from simply stating your opinion to being downright bitchy in my opinion.
Also, I’m not an expert on such terms, but considering Kate is 19, isn’t she slightly too old to be classified as ‘jailbait age’? Regarding her boobs, yes they are undeniably her ‘asset’ but everyone has those; there is no one you can say has a ‘perfect’ body. For example, you could say “All Candice has is her WHR” or “All Gisele has are her legs” or “All J-Lo has is her bum.”- it’s not rocket sciene that whole package – assets= flaws, so I find your point kind of invalid and unnecessary; we can all see Kate ‘lacks’ a waist and gisele ‘lacks’ boobs, as does Candice, but that’s what makes everyone different and interesting, so I don’t get why Kate’s lack of other ‘assets’ seems to anger you so much!
Besides the fact that Kate is a little too young I don’t see any other reason why she wouldn’t have to be on cover. You have your favorite, I have too, but the variety is needed. In the last few years, it was not sweet, girlish blondes on the cover (it was Brooklyn, but she does not look like that). Although Jessica also could be, is shapely, exotic. Maybe next year.
Without exaggeration – Kate doesn’t have a narrow waist, but what else can accuse her so? She’s thin, but not so much, sweet – some like it. Really I don’t know where she is ugly. Oh … let it be, for you she isn’t pretty, but do not use the term “butterface” because it sounds very insulting.

I know her body gets a lot of hate on this site but I think she’s just gorgeous! There’s always people asking for more diversity in modelling, I think Kate fits into that perfectly with her goblet/apple body shape: soft and busty with narrow hips.

I agree. Can she please wear a bikini that actually fits? It makes her look so vulgar, and it really isn’t sexier at all. The pink bikini (I think in pic 11) is particularly repulsive. I’d been tempted to buy that bikini myself earlier this year and I never thought I’d say I’d look better in a bikini than an SI model but it’s absolutely atrocious on Kate. I think they just really need to go up two sizes with everything.

I think that Kate has the potencial – not right away the second Kate Moss, but it is ok. See a photo shoot for Guess and photos Rebillard Remi – there differently than in SI.

I have seen her many times before. I know her work.
She can’t model well IMO. I have seen her Guess ads, and I do not think she was the right choice for the campaign at all. My eye was on Silviu Tolu, the guy in the ads, the entire time lol. I think she is generic, not striking and model-esque at all, and better suited to these kinds of shoots where she just stands in a bikini and “looks pretty”. Just my opinion, of course.

I must say, I don’t find Amber Heard stunning, but even her Guess shots were better. My eye was pretty much on both her and Silviu equally. Kate doesn’t stand out to me much.

Ugh I can’t deal with this photoshop. The effects they used makes her look like a glow worm in half of the pics. Aside from that her pics are decent. A few look a little raunchy but that’s to be expected i guess. I wonder what she’s going to look like as she gets older, her face can really go either way…

For whatever reason, I’ve never really been a fan of her or her body. I thought the cover shot was terrible. Just my opinion though, I prefer a more distinct WHR and a nice bum. Don’t think any of the pics are anything to rave about, either. Just boring.
I love how in the video, when they switch from a video to the finished photo you can see them photoshop her waist. In the video she says “they are complete different worlds” Really? It should be “completeLY different worlds”. Come on. Her boobs are AWESOME and I love that she has skinny arms and legs but her midsection and perhaps bum (I’ve never seen it) are not supermodel worthy. Her face is fine. I can see why lots of guys like her.

She has two qualities, lack of waist and lack of hips/butt, which might distract from the overall package, but I can definitely see why she is popular. You can’t have it all

. Nina Agdal is also only 19 years old, are a little too young for such photo session. The fashion shows should not has models less than the minimum 18 years, although there are, unfortunately.
I agree! Maybe she should go in the rookie section but I think they should showcase more mature (and I’m not saying in terms of physical aspects, because Kate is obviously fully developed) women on the cover, not girls.
Ok, so I think I’ve finally figured out how I feel about Kate. Her body is very nice (much better than mine), but there is room for improvement…which is always good. Her boobies are too big and the bikinis she is wearing are too small. I’m not a fan of just covering the nipple. I always had this thought that models are trying to sell me what they are wearing, but she fails horribly at that. So I guess if her goal is to be sexy for men then she is a good model, but if she is directing her modeling towards women then she fails. This is an overall statement, not just an SI observation.

They seriously need to buy her some bigger bikini tops. At this point it’s just getting ridiculous. They aren’t even a little smaller than they should be, they are clearly meant for an A/B cup girl. Pic 11 looks like some sort of Vegas stripper. The only one I like is pic 10. All of them are horribly photoshopped though, you can tell that her stomach looks kind of blurred and she just looks out of place in the environment (like in the pic with the red bandeau, the PS there is horrible). The shots themselves are better than last year in terms of being more flattering but I don’t see Kate as being worthy of cover model. Her bod looks better than usual here but in real life I don’t think it’s spectacular.
I love her face. She has a very classic American preppy type beauty with her freckles and mole. She actually looks better with less makeup. And I’m not usually a fan of big boobs, but hers are hot. Her WHR isn’t the best, but the rest of her makes up for it, and I kind of like that she’s got some extra chub.

I totally agree with this. Cintia Dicker appeals to women and men and I honestly can’t find an unattractive photo of her. On the contrary, I think most photos of Kate Upton need photoshop. There is just something messy about her.

Agree 100%. Cintia has really grown on me and I definitely agree about the appealing to both men and women! Kate seems to appeal only to men, and a certain type of men too (she fits one stereotypical image and isn’t really diverse or unique, hence I think she appeals to less people). And yes, I think there’s something sloppy about Kate, which is what makes me not like her! Like she’d be the kind of girl who’d come into your hotel room, drink all your beer, leave pizza plates everywhere, and then pass out on your bed. Maybe I’m exaggerating things a bit, but still …
Her face is really cute, I’m surprised so many of you think it isn’t. Her body is obviously average minus the really nice boobs but they are really nice! She has no waist, and shapeless legs (you can’t really see in these pics) but her face is very pretty and cute and I think that cuteness factor is what makes her unique looking and not like any other hot blonde girl you’d see every day. She has a rounder face and is very young and I think this is what makes her stand out.

Kate Upton seems to make a lot of women on this site angry :-/ I guess its because more of them are pear shaped and don’t like seeing someone with an ‘inferior’ shape gettign praised so much….I personally love Kate’s body, I’ve alwyas said it makes me feel happier about mine, and in terms of the whole package, I doubt theres anyone on this site commenting on how terrible she looks who looks as good as her, pear shaped or otherwise, she undeniably has sex appeal and beauty in spades, otherwise she wouldn’t be where she is, so quit it.

But there’s something about her personality or image that really irks me, and I think that’s what people are getting at. It’s not even her body, but she just comes off as kind of annoying and sloppy. There was a post on another celebrity site like this (I think MoeJackson?) with all of the SI girls, and honestly, all of them would have made a better cover girl than Kate Upton, imo. I am not saying she’s unattractive, she is definitely above average, but she is extremely overrated.

I’m going to disagree with most people- I love her body and face! I like that she has a soft look to her but still has a flat tummy. With that body type it is impossible to have a small waist and curvy hips. I like that she has a different body type than most models- similar to Brooklyn Decker’s and while it isn’t my ideal, I think she looks hot. We should celebrate different, HEALTHY body types. And I much prefer her body to any of the VS models.
I’m not a fan. I think for a model she is very average. Her body is skinny, but she has no definition…she looks so soft. With that being said, I think it’s a good thing to have different body types in magazines, but to me she’s just so average I could find better than her everytime I go to the beach probably.
This girl went downhill after the GUESS ads, my guess is she was photoshopped beyond oblivion to look the way she did in those ads. In person, she’s cute at the most. I get that she’s blonde with big boobs, but there are other blondes with big boobs who blow this one out of the water. Being blonde and having big boobs is not enough to classify one as attractive. Anyways, these ads have also been way too photoshopped, they got rid of the belly she has and gave her some tiny semblance of a waist. FALSE ADVERTISTING!! I agree, we are not saying men are not attracted to Kate. Yes, she is attractive to a good portion of the male sex. But that does not mean she is attractive to every man and I really hate when people try to shove one ideal of attractiveness down everyone’s throats. And yes, I do believe you can find negative comments about Kate just as you can find positive comments. You don’t have to look very far (I recall one youtube video where people were calling her fat, as well as others where people really loved her). Also, Kate is a little extreme in terms of the chest department, and yes, although many men like bigger than average boobs, some might prefer say a C cup over Kate’s triple Hs, or whatever they are (unless you are part of the bigger is always better club). Not saying this is necessarily the case but you have to be pretty blind to promote only one type of beauty and say everyone of the opposite gender thinks she’s attractive, and anyone who disputes that is wrong. Heck, there are probably men who don’t like Adriana Lima or Megan Fox!

I dont find this girl attractive at all. I dont know why everyone is so crazy for her. I saw her on Ellen the other day and her personality is so blah, she is not the brightest star in the sky thats for sure. She annoys me in all her photos but i cant work out why. Sure she has the legs and boobs so men are gonna find her attractive but I think there are many other women who could have looked way better in a shoot like this.

I love when people say a woman is “plain” by which they mean “pretty in a conventional sense” as though that is a terrible thing. The term “Plain” or “Plain Jane” is supposed to mean unattractive/dowdy, or at the very best average, not conventionally pretty. Do the majority on this site really think that women are on average more beautiful than Kate Upton, Bar Rafaeli etc.??? Several here apparently think they are more attractive than SI bikini models…perhaps it is true, but in that case, you should follow you’re model calling and make tons of money!
Kate has a healthy body that some men (perhaps most) would find very attractive. Incidentally, I am a petite brunette who looks nothing like Kate, but I can appreciate other types of beauty without becoming insecure about my own. While I receive my fair share of compliments and think I am an attractive woman, I do not think I am more attractive than the standard swimsuit model (unfortunately)! I imagine many (not all) of the negative comments are coming from insecure women.
I think they mean “plain” as in “not striking, wouldn’t make you look twice” if you saw her on the street. Adriana Lima, Emily DiDonato, Daria Werbowy, Constance Jablonski, Georgina Stojilikovic, Aymeline Valade, or anyone like those women would make me look, for sure. Her face is conventional and boring, and a dime a dozen IMO. Her body is also not exactly stunning to me. She looks like the girls I went to high school with. So does Bar R., actually. I’m not insecure at all; I think I’m very attractive (not to sound stuck up) and people tell me that I am the time (again, not to sound bitchy). I think I look better than some celebrities, but then I think a lot of “regular” women do as well. Being attractive isn’t something reserved only for them.

When it comes to the models who are unattractive to me … Kate Upton, Crystal Renn to name 2 off the top of my head, it has nothing to do with jealous or insecurity. I simply and honestly do not find their looks to be very impressive.

Yes! I so agree! I see girls at my high school and wonder why they aren’t famous, if Hollywood/the swimsuit modeling world is really supposed to represent the best. Ok tequilla, but I know I wouldn’t want to be objectified by my boobs only .. I’d want people to look at my face! And seriously, do you think we’re going to put our faces out here? There are creepy people on the internet! I had my face up for a while here but this is a really popular site and I’m a very private person in terms of internet usage, so it’s hardly fair to blame someone for not wanting to put a picture of themselves up, no matter how attractive they are.

I can see why men love her. I prefer a more refined beauty but her look is what men want.
She isn’t my cup of tea at all, she looks like an 80′s page 3 girl like Samantha Fox. That said I can still see why some people would be in to her. There is a market for her, it’s just there are so many women who have this look. I don’t think she belongs on SI, though, I think she is more page 3 and Nuts Magazine material. She is a hot chick but not a striking one.

her neck seems so short for being a tall woman, I am not a modeling expert but I remember Tyra on ANTM always preaching about lengthening the neck and I always thought yeah yeah yeah whatever, but for someone who is so long everywhere eyes (her extremities) she reminds me of when your brother would pop your Barbie’s head off and you’d put it back on but the neck was never quite right again, the head would go on weird and make it look so short…. In the picture with her head extended up she looks a lot more model-esque.
Either way I am on the h8r bandwagon I guess, she doesn’t do a thing for me and I can appreciate a well endowed gal ( . ) ( . ) but whoever styles her or maybe it is her own thing, her tits look ruined in every bikini because they are squished and weird and I really don’t like the fabric-over-the-nips look. I am not sure if it is because it gives her boobs more support while still being like minimal coverage or what. I just want some artfully, sexily displayed tatas to admire, is that so much to ask?? Also, the photoshop takes away whatever could be left. the photoshop in these photos in RIDICULOUS! OMG. they completely liquidified her skin and her thighs and belly in most pictures. compared to the last photos we saw of her photoshop has helped her lose some pounds!

I think what she really needs is a supportive, bra-sized bikini top, with a supportive band. That will do her figure much more justice. And of course to balance out the top, a bottom with more coverage. Stringy tops that only work as nipple covers are not flattering.
That is some of the worst photoshopping I’ve ever seen. I wonder if men can even fantasize about something that looks so cartoonish. She has no creases or bumps or anything, not even on her knees and elbows, The only parts that you can see any texture is when there is water drops on her skin. Terrible.
How photo-shopped is picture #1? The falseness ruined my appetite. I’m not interested in the rest. Call me back when you have more realistic photos.
