Kate Hudson Is Counting Calories
June 13, 2010 in Celebrity Quotes, Kate Hudson by Versus

Let’s find out more details from the Daily Mail:
Kate Hudson revealed she has started dieting after gaining weight for a film role.
The 31-year-old, who put her curvier figure on show on the set of her new film Something Borrowed in New York yesterday, filled out for her part in the horror movie The Killer Inside Me.
‘I’ve been counting calories and it works,’ she told David Letterman earlier this week.
The American talk show host was tempting her with waffles smothered in butter when she visited his show Tuesday night.
‘It’s so much butter,’ marvelled Kate, who has one son with her rocker ex-husband Chris Robinson.
‘What kind of butter is it? I don’t really want to eat this,’ she added.
But eventually Kate yielded to temptation, enjoying a few bites of the decadent treat, then rattling off her estimation of their calorie content.
‘So right now this is – about three bites is like 100 calories.’
When Dave joked that she’d let herself go, she said: ‘But I do, I actually do let myself go.’
What do you guys think? Are you a fan of the calorie count method to maintain / lose weight?

I love this comment! Kate is sensible and her quote shows that she has self control. <3
Um, the part of the comment that wasn’t included is the part where she says she gained the weight bc she “wanted to look plainer, not glamorous. Small town,” That’s pretty arrogant. Really arrogant, actually. I think she IS plain…I certainly don’t think “glamour: Kate Hudson.” She’s been less than her former svelte self for awhile now, role or not.
What? So she wasn’t actually required to gain weight for the role?
And she did it to look plain? That’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard in a long time haha she probably just wanted an excuse to pig out lol
It won’t be very easy to lose that weight, she’s not 20 anymore. She shouldn’t be abusing her body like that.
i used to love kate. not because of the way she looked…i always thought she was very plain jane (but always had a nice bum). I always thought her mum, Goldie, was glamourous and gorgeous, even when she got older and filled out. Glamour has nothing to do with size. thats a ridiculous comment. when i think glamour i usually actually think fitted, tasteful dresses on a knockout hourglass figure. not sayting hourglasses are usually bigger…look at halle etc. but i mean that kate filling out didnt make her automatically curvier in a shape sense. and it didnt make her less or more glamourous. i can barely even see any weight gain. but, i do think she looks better softer (she is still skinny imo) because it softens her face and i dont like ripped abs.
Heeelllooo people are ordered to gain weight for a movie in Hollywood all the time. They just train hard right after to lose it. Like Rene Zellweger had to do it for Bridget Jones etc. In the reverse case, 50 Cent recently had to lose 60 pounds of his muscle so he could look the part of an AIDS (or was it cancer?) patient (he looks soooooo different it’s scary). The starts just bounce back to their former selves right after, through hard core training.
uhm..die she get butt implants too?! i dont remember her sporting that ass!
I’m pretty sure its mostly a combination of weight gain + how she’s standing, but she has always had a bit of booty.
Yeah, she’s always had a bubble butt
i googled her, there are pics of her in a bikini when shes just a tiny bit skinnier than here and it looks a lot different! i think its either those push up panties or maybe a brazilian lift..? i do think she got a little overall makeover, nothing wrong with that though looks great
Actually I’m counting calories myself, it’s a good way to stay the same and prevent Your body from effects that the stars are serving us all the time
I started counting calories 8 years ago and because of that my weight is always around 53 kg, so i guess it works.
But counting calories in order to losing plenty of kilos… Well, that’s kinda dangerous…
I’ve counted calories before out of interest as to how many I consumed each day but it’s really not something I think I should do.
I may not be modelesque in size but I am relative slim and though I love to gorge I really don’t eat so much that I need to be concerned so counting calories, bearing to above in mind, is pretty pointless.
Well, it certainly works for me. I have a slow metabolism and gain weight by just looking at a cake, so it’s an easy way to keep track of what you eat and how it effects your body. If you gain a little you can just look back and say: “So that’s why it happened!”
it’s exactly like that for me too. petite and slow metabolism, gotta keep counting
counting calories is the absolute best way! and the most logical way too
i find counting calories is good for me too…but i dont go crazy with it. i try to do it if i have gained weight because i slacked off…but more as a way to guage where i am going wrong…i.e. not realising i ate three slices of cake throughout the day! lol! buut usually i just try eat whatever i feel like as long as i am eating healthily and not eating fast food. i have a terrible sweet tooth though!
just wondering what height/ weight are you? and how many calories do you try have per day? its ok if you dont want to answer =o)
im 5’2ish and weigh 111 pounds at the moment. i have a super tiny bonestructure so in order for me to look slim and to look my best (no belly or fatty arms) i gotta weigh like.. 103-104 pounds.
if i want to lose some weight i eat around 1200 kcal per day, and if i wanna maintain it’s around 1400-1500
this spring i felt like i always craved snacks and sweets so i started taking transformulas waistline, i’ve dropped 7.7 pounds since then
love them! they’re available at http://www.feelunique.com, worldwide free shipping
thanks so much for your reply =o)
I am the same with the calorie intake, except i eat a bit more than that if i do lots of exercise. i think i might start to try stick around 1500 now just while i lose a bit. i am 5’3 and aiming for about 120, but i have quite a lot of muscle (all in the thighs sadly!) lol
ah okej
are you a pear? im v-shape/vase so i only gain from the hip bone and up, that sucks sometimes
im hoping to drop another 5-7 pounds so i can walk around in my bikini without being selfconscious
im going to istanbul in august so i better be ready then. haha
yeah it did work for me. Only “diet” I’ve done
Omg what happened to her?!??! Its hard to believe this is her! I remember her being petite!
Kate is great. Stupid saying, I know, but she’s so loveable and likeable that you can’t help but like her! And remember people, posture posture posture!
I lost 35 lbs in a year counting my calories. It’s worked better for me than exercise.
i think it works if you want to devote a lot of time to it. wow i miss petite kate.
Counting is really the only thing that works almost all of the time. It’s tough, but logging everything I ate for a few months helped me lose 30 lbs. I definitely eat less when I’m logging everything I eat, but it’s tough to keep up.
It’s so true. I’ve lost over 80 lbs from counting my calorie intake, and it worked better than any fad diet (jenny craig, nutrisystem etc.) I’d ever tried.
Counting calories work, but her quote makes her sound like she’s over-obsessing.
Yep for me I count calories so I would not undereat anymore, I was at the time dieting and had no knowledge of good nutrition. So in that respect learning more about food and what is in it, the minerals, vitamins correct serving/potion size has been great.
Althoug some have ridiculed me for it, I like to know how many calories I am comsuming.
BTW did she start counting to gain or to lose WHAT she gained?
I’ve been counting calories since I was 13 and I’m 19 now. It certainly “worked” for me (I lost weight, thats for sure), but it isn’t something that I would recommend, especially for perfectionist/control freak/type A personalities like mine. I became incredibly obsessive about it and got down to 83 pounds. I’m better about it now, and I make sure to have at least 1500 a day, but I don’t feel like I could ever stop counting now.
Man I still can’t tell from this picture whether she got implants or not…. I’m starting to think it was just weight gain. By the way I love Kate Hudson! Bubbly personality, smiley face, golden mane, beautiful shape. Bi*tch lol
I’m supportive of counting. I lost 70lbs by it, kept it off nearly 9mo now, easily.
it pisses me off that this chick thinks shes such a free spirited person and she so carefree. shes so fu*king gay!
LOL!!!!
I think counting is a good way to encourage yourself to eat better, because to eat reasonable portions you have to make it healthy, and prefer 200g of strawberries to half a chocolate bar. BUT many people gain back the weight when they cut down their daily intakes too fast, you have to do it progressively ! In a word i think it is important to be aware of the calories in what you eat but you don’t want to get obssessive about it, so you’d better count approximately.
There’s no other way. Of course. I’m a calorie-counting freak, I have been since I twelve (ED)
I just have to throw this out there – There is NO OTHER WAY TO LOSE WEIGHT other than counting calories.
Whether you’re doing Atkins, South Beach Diet, cabbage soup diet, Weight Watchers, diet pills or any other method – The bottom line is that, to lose weight, you need to burn more calories than you eat, regardless of what type of diet you’re doing.
Anyone who has lost weight has done it by decreasing their calorie intake or increasing their energy expenditure; or both.
So, to answer Versus’ question about whether I am a fan of counting calories to lose weight – You can’t be a “fan” of it, if you eat less calories you lose, if you eat more you gain and that’s that, regardless of what kind of diet people are trying to promote.
Not necessarily true. It isn’t just about the number of calories you consume. It is about the type of calories you consume.
Not all foods are created equal even if they appear to be based on calorie content. Many people who have weight issues do much better on a higher protein, lower carb diet when trying to lose weight.
This fact cannot be disputed.
Yes it can be disputed. Calories in must be less than calories out in order to lose weight. If you want to do a low fat or low carb or grapefruit only or M&Ms only diet, the only way any of them work is if you are eating fewer calories than you’re burning (and any kind of diet will work this way if you are mindful of the calories). Obviously eating 1200 calories of M&Ms isn’t healthy, but you will lose weight.
She has a cute figure but this is not a flattering shot.
She didn’t look bigger in terms of weight during her interview with Letterman. So, I don’t know what she is talking about.
What happened to her breast implant rumours?
I used to count calories until I figured out the days I ate the most fruits and veggies and got some exercise were the days I stayed well within my calorie range – no problem. Now I exercise most days and center all my meals around fresh fruits and veggies, and don’t have to worry about it. And I haven’t gotten any colds or anything in a long time.
wtf when did she get this fat?
I think that calorie-counting does work, to a certain extent. I don’t think it’s necessary to count every little thing, but it’s good to take an estimate so you know that you should stop eating once you’ve reached a certain amount or gone over by too much. Also good so you know how much you need to exercise and stuff.
