Kate Bosworth Looks Thin in a Red Dress
January 23, 2012 in Kate Bosworth by Versus

Just the other day, we noticed how thin Rosie looked in a red leather dress – and Kate is yet another celeb that shows off her skinniness in this hot color, as she attends the ‘Black Rock’ Premiere at 2012 Sundance Film Festival.
How do you like her head-to-toe red look?
See more next!

Meh.
I think she looks good body wise. Thin but not as scary thin as she was.
I like the all red look on her. She shows enough skin to break up the mono color look from being too much.
Oh Kate….
i think she has a child like body. it isnt the thinness but her frame that makes her look child like
even when jolie is super thin, she still has a womanly body
kate just looks tiny and petite in an unappealing way
I prefer small frame + thinness than big frame + thinness. The latter looks scary while the first just looks small.. I like small frames even though mine is not as small as hers.
I agree, her head also looks large in comparison to her body, which makes her seem more childlike.
She looks amazing here. This is the perfect size for her given her frame. Jolie never looked good thin, something about her has always made her unnatural looking. Kate looks perfect though.
She is perfect (IMHO) love her!
Love her figure. She looks great body wise. I’ve never found her pretty, kind of plain. She has amazing, flawless skin 24/7 it seems though.
Ravishing in red. She looks stunning and her eyes are gorgeous.
can’t tell if that’s a pooch or just her hipbones jutting out from standing weird. wonder if she’s so thin that when she does eat, her stomach protrudes that much.
no judgement, mine does too and i’m a regular weight.
she always looks pretty and amazing and well put together. preferred her stronger body in that movie she was in. but obviously she is just naturally thin.
& i was referring to the third picture.
I was wondering the same thing about the 3rd pic. She’s thin, regardless.
me, too.
she looks somehow alien-like (i’m sorry.) pregnant and skeletal at the same time.
i also don’t like the all-red thingy. not here on her at least.
Very pretty face. But, she looks like a bobble head.
Bobble head, indeed. A little muscle weight would do wonders for her.
agreed. but I don’t think she’s “naturally” thin. Remember her in that movie? Blue Crush was it? she was toned and tanned and had much more body weight. She’s managed to make her head look too huge for her body now and I don’t think that that happened naturally.
Yeah, I don’t think this weight is natural for her. Unfortunately, her head is too big for her body and her legs often look sharp and boy. Her face is gorgeous though.
I agree! I think she is way too thin nowadays… A little more fat and muscle would do wonders for her.
Take a look at how she looked before:
http://img2.timeinc.net/instyle/images/2010/gallery/061110-Kate-Bosworth-350.jpg
Wow, that´s a f***ing big difference! She looked so much better before
oh my god!!! I had no idea she used to look like that. That’s like a perfect body for me, I would give so much to have the time to go to the gym to achieve that kind of level of toned body (I do go to the gym, but only 2-3 times a week due to my long working hours, and it really is not enough, as i spend the rest of the time at my desk…i just manage not to look skinny-fat, but i’d rather look fit and strong than just skinny and lean-ish…)
http://movies.about.com/od/beyondthesea/a/beyondkb121004_3.htm
In this article she says she had to work 7 hours a day…
I can understand that she couldn’t keep that body up. She’s probably not the kind of person who can build up muscle easily (she doesn’t look like it to me at least)
*work out
The way she’s standing in the first pic gives her body a weird, almost unattractive, shape. I like the head-on pics though I’m not a huge fan of her styling here. The embroidery design on her dress is interesting to say the least.
I hate the no makeup and red lipstick look, I think you need eye liner or something to balance it out.
agree
always hated it, it’s clownish
She’s beautiful but her head looks too big for her body
I agree. She looks like a puppet.
This frail aesthetic is not to my taste.
She has a pretty face.
She is utterly fantastic… she is thin, but it looks absolutely amazing on her. Love her
Her one eye is a differnt color!!
Yep, how cool is it?? In a lot of her movies she wears a blue contact in her right eye so that they match. I guess they’d be too distracting if she didn’t?
It’s called heterochromia iridum.
Scarry… and not just skinny
Yikes! I started a bit when I saw how thin she is. If she put on a little healthy weight she would look her age, she looks much older here.
she looks great, shame that she can’t keep her feets straight / aligned
wow-she looks super thin–weight guesses?she looks petite so id say if she is 5’4 maybe 110 lbs??
I would say less, but its hard to tell without knowing someones body composition (more muscle or not)
she’s 5’5. I think she is 105/115
105/115?
Carrie, I am 106 lbs. and 5’4 and I look like a cow compared to her. And they say the camera adds weight so I would guess she is actually closer to 90 pounds. She has a petite and thin frame like me. There is no way she is 110 lbs.
Everybody’s body composition is different. I’m 5’4″, 130lbs now, and US size 2 but most people guess I’m around 115-120. When I was around 115 I looked gaunt and frail and people guessed I was under 100. It really just depends on your body’s natural level of muscle/toning and bone structure.
I would say she’s around 110.
I’m pretty sure everyone guesses 10-20 pounds less than what they really think the person’s weight is though….I do anyways because I don’t want to offend ppl. And everyone guesses that me and my friends are 10 – 20 lbs lighter than the real weight.
Yeah but Kate clearly has no muscle whatsoever….so you can easily subtract 10lb right there.
Leigh – I don’t believe you are 106lbs and a cow at 5’4, but if you have body dysmorphia it makes sense how you would think that.
She meant that she looks bigger than Kate, not that she actually thinks she looks like a cow. She even said she has a thin frame.
lol Aims, I am tiny and believe me that I do not think I look like a cow. If you were to put me next to Ms. Kate however, I would suddenly look huge in comparison. I just can’t see her being my weight or weigh more than me because she has zero muscle mass, and muscle weighs more than fat and makes people look thicker. It is more likely she is 90 something pounds.
I’m 5’6 and 112 lbs and while I am slim, I don’t look anywhere near that skinny. She looks about the same I did when I was about 97lbs. So I’d guess anywhere between 90-100lbs.
It’s hard to tell for sure, though. We all carry weight differently.
I reckon 5ft5 and 100lb. She looks way underweight to me.
I’m with you guys, 5’5 and 90-100 lbs. She is teeny tiny and not muscular, so there is no way there is any other “hidden” lbs on her frame.
I don’t think she’s too thin, she looks great!
Stunning.
she doesn’t look too thin, she just looks hideous because of her giant head and her alien ears. Rosie at least doesn’t look like a freak. Big head lollipop body is so passe
LOL she does look like an alien!
love her slender and elegant frame…I love how she always looks so dainty…something a heavier/curvy woman can never really achieve..
love her eyes too.
That’s like saying, skinny women can never really achieve to look feminine and sexy… err… yes they can! I think Natalie Dormer was very delicate in Tudors and I would call her curvy. (But perhaps I don’t understand the word dainty wrong
)
i don’t get it, she doesn’t look that thin to me. she looks really good.
her body that is.. i don’t think this hairstyle does her any justice, she usually looks a lot prettier.
She is not as thin as she once was – but still looks too skinny for her frame to me. It makes her look bony, frail and older than she is. But she has a very interesting ‘elfin’ face – and those eyes…wow! I really like the dress, actually – she usually has great dress sense.
She looks way too thin and like she has back problems/bad posture. Yuck.
She does look too skinny but it looks good on her. Some people it looks weird on.
She’s like a very natural, plain beauty. I think her body looks good, she’s very skinny, but she always dresses well. However, jeans and a t-shirt is defo what suits her somewhat boy-ish figure best, she’s not particularly womanly
She is skinny fat!Has thin limbs but could see the bulging tummy through her red dress.
that’s not skinny fat. it appears to be bloat or edema
She’s anorexic and anyone who thinks she looks great is as sick in the head as she is.
How do you know she’s anorexic? I’m asking seriously btw as in do you know for sure?
I guess its the proportion. Naturally skinny people don|t have huge heads and skinny body. Karlie kloss and Kate Moss are skinny but don|t have the bobblehead lollipop look. Kate body looks gorgeous but when the head looks giant, there is something wrong about it… REmember Selma Blair, Lara flynn, Hillary Duffy they had the huge head and little body… Kate Moss even at her skinniest never had this bobblehead thing…
i like her eyes..kinda like bowie
, thats cool.
her body is just like the rest of the hollywood blondies, plain skinny, no assets, pretty, but nothing special about her.
Sorry, but she looks exactly like this:
http://www.crowdedskies.com/alien%20images/large_grey.jpg
i think she looks fantastic
Hello Bobblehead. I don’t understand how this is supposed to be attractive.
She always reminds me of Natasha Poly; and coming from me that’s NOT a compliment.
i’ve always liked kate. i never noticed how much her ears stuck out hahaha.
Damn, I know everyone is allowed to have their own opinions, but I’m seriously surprised/confused about how many people find her body amazing. This woman looks way too thin to be considered attractive (IMO), but whatever floats your boat.
I kind of agree with you. I just looked at the first photo again and I now see that she looks incredibly thin and fragile – not at all what I think is normal or natural for her frame. I am starting to see that this site has changed my perception of very thin figures – and not in a good way. I used to be shocked when I saw a woman looking this thin, now it seems okay – I don’t think that’s the right response actually. I’m sure that will get some angry responses, but I’m actually a little disturbed by how I thought she looked okay earlier – just a bit too thin – when she actually looks way more than ‘just a bit’ too thin to me now. She’s still beautiful and that dress is fabulous – but her body makes me a bit uncomfortable in it’s frailty. But you’re right, whatever floats a person’s boat – but I’m just as surprised as you are that so many people are very positive about her figure.
I feel like this site has changed my perception on beautiful bodies too. So much that I want to lose 10 pounds and go from 120 to 110 at 5’6 and 22 years old.
Don’t do it! You sound very slim already
As much as we might tend to notice comments on this site loving very thin bodies, the majority of commenters still prefer women who are slim, but not bony or frail looking. I just find it a little sad that I’m not as shocked as I used to be when confronted with extremely thin women. When I first started commenting here I would have said she looks emaciated, now I don’t – partly because I think that is a bit harsh, but also partly because I’m a bit desensitised to it now.
It is sad what reading some of the comments can do – I myself should probably stay away – and actually I have to disagree with you, some of the most universally praised bodies on this site are the VS models who are all supposedly 5’9″+ 115-125 pounds? More than “slim” on most frames…
I agree with you, except I’m the opposite! I’m 108 at 5’6 and I’d like to be heavier when I read nasty comments on thin women. So 120 pounds seems good to me!
Emilie, I guess wanting to change yourself either way isn’t good..
Aww thanks Erica
Right now I’m just trying to eat smaller portions, because I eat two full plates every meal and feel so stuffed all the time. I’m also trying to get fitter, have more strength. But I guess my goal should be just that: healthier not thinner.
I’m sort of “mourning” that my teenage body is gone, and when it comes down to it the media does portray very young-looking, not very feminine bodies as ideal..
When I just came to this site I didn’t think the VS models were all that and now I’m wow-ed when I see them. It shocks me that what I think is beautiful has changed so quick. Scarlett J’s old body used to be my ideal and now I’m like, meh I prefer Miranda Kerr :/ (But I still don’t like the concept of VS very much: so male-pleasing)
You are completely right about the ‘very young bodies’ being ideal in the entertainment biz. I think it’s a terribly unrealistic ideal – not many women are going to look just post-pubescent when they are fully mature women. I never had that issue, because I went from girl to woman in what felt like overnight when I was about 12 – I never had the ‘nubile’ body I think is idolised now (small, high breasts; low body fat and a generally smooth, firm appearance). So, I’ve always known that I am just not that ideal and never can be, so it’s fine!
Anyway, I think you are right to just try to be healthier – I’m doing the same thing – and let the weight/dress size be what it will. Health and fitness is what matters!
I agree with everything you wrote, Erica. I hope I won’t offend anyone when I say that at times this site reminds me of a pro-ana site. This site is about bodies. Weight, size, shape and type. There is no doubt that there are a lot of people with eating disorders or body issues coming to this site.
When I discovered this site, I kept it a secret in the sense that I didn’t want anyone to know that I actually visited a site like this. I felt immense shame because I knew it revealed something about me that I didn’t like. A friend of mine caught me by accident, she looked shocked and worried, and she said, “Why are you on this site?” – I felt so busted. I felt embarrassed, ashamed and exposed.
Back then I was obsessed, and visiting this site fueled that obsession. Out of compulsion I would visit this site everyday, sometimes several times a day. Today I’m at a much healthier place, and back to just being aware, and now I only visit out of habit. Once in a while, sometimes it’ll go a month or more. Soon it will most likely just stop.
When it comes to our bodies, there is a fine line between awareness and obsession – it’s a slippery slope. When one gets overly occupied with weight and size, then something is not right.
Hi Jamie. I can relate to your comment. As I said above, I just realised looking at these pictures of Kate that my first response was not shock like it used to be – it was more ‘okay, she’s skinny, but not that skinny’! That worried me – because, objectively, she really is shockingly skinny! When I first visited this site I would often get shocked by the really thin models/celebs and make comments to that effect – but then I started to get bashed for it by a few people and told I was being offensive to naturally thin women and I guess that kind of made me more moderate. I got annoyed when people were nasty about plus size models, so I thought maybe I needed to be nice/neutral about very skinny women – lest I offend someone. Now that seems to have turned from a perfectly reasonable desire not to offend people, into an actual acceptance of figures that I find to be uncomfortably frail – and really any healthy-minded individual should also find frail, not ideal.
I took a break from the site for a while last month, and I think I will again. Too many people here do seem to be quite pro-ana now – and that’s a very unhealthy viewpoint. And when I see that quite a few people here don’t think she’s too thin and I think that’s a perfectly normal aesthetic ideal – then it’s time to take a step back, I think! I do like to weigh in on the discussions that are not purely about looks though – like nutrition, exercise, etc. I guess there is no harm in that – so I will still check in to see the topics, but I’ll avoid the purely body-driven ones for a while.
Thanks for your comment – glad you have a healthier relationship with this site and yourself now.
Erica, thanks for this honest post. I have always thought you were polite but you did get knocked down a lot when you spoke your mind about models etc. I mean, lets me objective for a minute. VS models usually have bmi’s of 16 or under. That is considered underweight. It is considered as a criteria for anorexia. Now, they may be ‘natural’. The point is many women are not naturally like this. Not only that, there is no reason for this to be touted as the ‘ideal’ when it is not FACT that a woman like this is ideal. It’s subjective. If you look at ideal women throughout the years, they have now become skinnier and taller than in the past. I noticed how you started to ‘moderate’ your comments and I think it’s ridiculous and it’s sad. The worst you would say is “she is too thin.” or something along those lines. Which was your opinion. However you started to moderate to “she is a bit too thin for my liking but she sure is gorgeous” just to appease the pro-skinnies. However, they can go “oh she looks like a cow. Not attractive at all” about Christina Hendricks for example.
It’s like, there are many on here who think skinny=attractive. If you don’t agree then you are just jealous. It’s a load of garbage. The only ttime I started to get obsessed with being smaller and thinner was from visiting sites like this. (Sure, I had an ED in the past but it wasn’t related to wanting to be thin). I had a rest from visiting these sites and my perception is a bit more normal. My boyfriend always said he thought VS models were too skinny and sick looking, and I thought they were ‘normal.’ Trust me, my bf is a complete @rsehole and has no problem making me feel like crap so I know when he says that he isn’t lying…but that’s another story…
Anyway, I was sad that you had to start ‘moderating’ your comments for catty girls. If you don’t agree with their opinion then you are wrong. Then they shout out ‘oh why is it ok fo you to say thin is unattractive but i cant say Christina Hendricks is a fat cow.’ and that would make you feel guilty. That’s the point. It’s the whole ‘bully’ type personality turning things around to appear as the ‘victim’ to gain more control again. I know that is an extreme way to put it regarding a website but just giving an example. I’ve been sad to not see your comments, so I hope that you can come back again and not moderate so much! I know you won’t be a b!tch and call people ugly but I would like to see some truth again rather than everyone playing games to appease the bullies.
Also, I agree sites like this (no offense to anyone) can definately change your perception on body image. I’m not saying that’s the site owners fault. It’s obviously individual persons responsibility to see changes in themselves and look after themselves.
There are some thin/skinny bodies i really love, olivia palermo and ale ambrosio being two of them, but this woman just looks sick to me, i think it’s because her head looks too big for her body, and she used to be on some show before blue crush and she was pretty average sized then…She also comes off as a try hard jessica biel type to me, trying to stay relevant without any talent
She looks like a frail little bird.
She doesn’t look too thin IMO too. She has gorgeous eyes but that hairstyle doesn’t suit her because her forehead is large. Bangs would look great! I also like her dress a lot, it’s fantastic.
i am 5’4 and when i was about 107-110 lbs looked like this- maybe a little bigger. so if she is 5’5 she could be about 110 lbs imo
wow she lookd OLD! She was so hot when she played that muscly surfer chick, this is just sad. Her head looks huge.
Yes, she always reminds me of one of those old frail society women, like Brooke Astor.
she’s gorgeous. She looks like a typical perfectionist though, a bit Bree van de kamp-ish.
I’m confused about all these comments calling her “frail.” I’m pretty petite and delicate-looking myself, and there’s not much I can do to help that unless I go into professional body building. I know most people don’t mean to hurt others with their comments, but it makes me feel a bit weird to hear people commenting on a trait in someone that may be uncontrollable. For me, I eat healthily and do not starve myself, yet I still appear very petite and small. That’s just how my frame is, and although I don’t like looking weak or “fragile,” that’s how I’m built. Just saying, not everyone who looks like this can help it.
The reason I feel she looks frail is that she is very bony and stands in such a way that makes me feel she doesn’t have much strength. Plenty of women look delicate or petite – but frail is something else. I would call Audrey Hepburn delicate and petite – or Natalie Portman or Rachel Bilson. They give the impression of being naturally petite and fine-boned – but they don’t look frail. Angelina Jolie looks frail too. I’m sorry if it offends you – I’m sure no one means to be offensive – it’s just an observation and it’s the first word that comes to mind when I see someone who looks so unusually bony. I’m sure if you are naturally petite and delicate, then no one would think of you as frail – the only people I would describe as frail are those who look very underweight for their body type. But again, sorry if I’ve offended you.
No no Erica, it’s okay. I know people aren’t writing their comments maliciously, they’re only expressing their opinions. I just wanted to put my two cents in and let everyone know that some girls can’t choose how petite they look. Now that you’ve made the distinction between frail and delicate or petite, I think it makes much more sense and it’s a reasonable explanation. Thanks!
Good, glad you see the distinction! I just know how it’s easy to take offence with people’s descriptions here – goodness knows I have many times!
there is a difference between looking skinny but healthy, ex: look at Olivia Palermo she is tiny and doesn’t look bad, but Kate bosworth got a big head thing going on that has nothing to do with a bad angle, she is just too thin for her frame. In that surf movie she looked pretty normal and proportioned. I’m skinnier than her current weight and my head is normal sized, my stomach doesn’t bulge etc. Twiggy was super skinny and still looked everything healthy not scary unproportioned. Delicate, petite but nice. Frail has a bad connotation, frail is more like someone who would snap if handled without care, someone helpless,it is bad to be frail in my opinion
*sigh* another “thinspiration” post that the pro-ana girls go gaga for. Clearly this woman is underweight – hello stick legs and bobble-head. And NO she is not naturally this way, take a look at her in the movie Blue Crush.
I agree with everything you said. Right on the mark, Sharon.
http://www.hpvf.com/servlet/Detail?no=414
I think she’s too thin.
I love Kate Bosworth! I’m a bit torn about her weight. On one hand she does seem VERY thin and her head appears very large in comparison to her body… Yet, I won’t say she doesn’t look good. She looks very elegant. I wouldn’t mind seeing her slightly heavier, but if she’s maintaining this weight healthily, I don’t see a problem. Lovely girl! I thought she looked fab in Blue Crush.
She looked so good in Blue Crush…….I wonder if she worked out to get that body. I think she is eating healthy right now but also maintaining her figure by not over eating. She can gain weight is she really tries but that’s just her choice. A lot of red dresses I’ve seen lately….I don’t like this fierce red on her.
I remember reading about her at the time of that movie and she worked out hard to gain the muscle. I do believe she is a naturally skinny person – I just think she has proven in the past that *this* skinny is not right for her. She said that she had lost too much weight after her break up with Orlando Bloom and that her family just tends to do that in times of stress – and she looks about that weight again now. She said she lost 12 pounds then – a lot for a naturally thin person. She didn’t look so thin last year, so something is going on.
Yeah I do believe she is naturally thin but can do with a bit of weight gain for health. She gained all that muscle for the movie? How? Maybe with expert’s help?
This site tells you something about it: http://www.howcelebritiesloseweight.com/kate-bosworth-celebrity-diet-workout-and-weight-loss-tips/
Wow, thanks, I totally envy that. I know if I have lots of money, I can hire someone to help me pack on 20 pounds of muscles and bulk. Surfing huh, and weight training.
well, her and alexander skarsgard broke up. never got why he was with her in the first place. he is a 9, she’s a 3
All I can say is “too bad about the lighting”. The last pic loks nice I guess.
I don’t know why….but I remember Bosworth complaining about having to gain muscle for Blue Crush. Maybe she didn’t/doesn’t like bulking up.
I wouldn’t want the Blue Crush bod someone posted above. Too square-ish and bulky for me anyway.
In what world, what country and what culture is this attractive? This is a sick person, which is apparent – and visible to the naked eye. Reading about her bulimia was no shock to me. It’s sad to see, her body was so healthy and fit pre-ED. I hope she gets the help she needs to get back to a healthy state of mind, and as a result, a healthy body.
Im quite surprised by all the positive comments. KB is a beautiful girl but very underweight, not looking healthy to my eyes.
I don’t think I like her hair slicked back like that… It just doesn’t look right on her imo
ahhh she looks like a lollipop giant head on a stick
she has nice cheekbones and a pretty, unique look. i’m torn when it comes to her body.
She looks great! Gorgeous body and face!
She looks a little skinny but her face looks very pretty. I lover her eyes
she looks sickly thin.
i always hate when a woman is thin people say she looks ‘child-like’ or the trademark ‘she looks like a 12 year-old boy’. she’s just skinny, she probably likes looking that way
Pretty girl but too thin and if you believe the gossip in Hollywood is one of the worst c*caine abusers out there. She looks like death on a stick.
Wow she definitely needs to gain some weight, she does not look healthy, not just her body her face as well. She used to look so young and fresh.
She has a beautiful face, but she needs to gain weight. She looks way too thin.
