Professional dancer Karina Smirnoff did had a “candid photoshoot” on the beach and we’re admiring the outtakes:
She’s looking gooood, slim and curvy, soft, yet toned at the same time!
For the curious ones, Karina is 5’5” and 32 years old.

No, she’s definitely not an hourglass. Her waist-to-hip ratio is too small. She looks like a column.

Catherine Zeta Jones is sooo not a hourglass… she’s not even near an hourglass
Let it be said, though, that most of those hourglasses were very exaggerated, be it by uncommon genetics or corset training. (Most, not all.)
I totally agree with kara e beetle. Catherine Zeta-Jones is so NOT a hourglass…
that list made me laugh a little ‘cuz a lot of those women were wearing corsets, and who knows maybe some of the others were wearing spanx or whatever under their dresses… but there a couple of bona-fide hourglasses in there.

I’m 5′ 6″ and about 118 so yeah I would say she’s probably 125-135. Her legs look a little heavier.
BTW, when I said that her legs look a little heavier I didn’t in any way mean she looked overweight…In fact I think she looks really HOT!

Versus, whats her body shape?
Out of the 5 basic body shapes (hourglass, ruler, pear, apple, V), she is closest to a ruler.

i want a bikini body like this. she’s toned everywhere but still looks soft and feminine.
and i like her legs? they’re shapely! seems like she gains fat in all of the right areas. if i were to gain, i’d just start looking disproportionate, but she looks so good!

Very nice, just the right amount of tone and soft, IMO
She has a very interesting body – this is what it looks like when fat (not that much, of course, she’s slim) layers over muscle. (Which I know because it’s happened to me.) It’s interesting to see this on another person – it really creates the effect of looking bigger boned.

How can a ruler be curvy? seriously. She looks fine to me, otherwise, just not seeing the curvyness. Nothing wrong with that, of course.
Rulers can be slightly curvy, too, just not as curvy as vases or hourglasses. Karina doesn’t have very curvy hips, but her body curves more in the back, since she has a booty (not very clear in these pictures, but take a look at these: http://www.skinnyvscurvy.com/celebrity-weight-measurements/dancer-karina-smirnoff-bikini.html).
I agree that the “curviness” is is mostly determined by the bust-waist-hip ratio, but a plump & curvy backside, thicker thighs (like skittles), a healthy amount of softness an ample bust can create a moderately curvy image as well.
Yes, you do have a point, i agree. It’s just hard for me, personally, to label someone without a striking whr as curvy.
