Jessica Biel: ‘I’m not a perfect person who doesn’t mess up’
July 15, 2010 in Celebrity Quotes, Jessica Biel by Versus

Jessica Biel is doing Glamour this month and she has a little bit of something to share about her diet. Via Huffington Post:
“I’m not a perfect person who doesn’t mess up, eat bad, not work out–I do all those things,” Biel tells the magazine.
But her normal workout regimen is two or three days a week with a personal trainer, and exercise every day–whether she goes to the gym or does hiking or ballet. And no bread, dairy, sugar, salt or much meat when she is working. (“Oh, it’s the worst!”)
Biel also subscribes to the Kelly Bensimon method of a weekly six-day fast followed by a day of feasting.
“When I’m working and I eat healthily all week, I then give myself one day–usually Sunday–when I just eat what I want. You have to, otherwise your mind goes a little nutso,” she said.
What do you guys think?

no wonder she has gotten so darn tiny! no bread, sugar, dairy, salt, or meat
i often wonder what many of these celebs would look like without their insanely strict diets, crazy workouts, and hair/makeup people
i didn’t mean that in a bad way…i think she’s absolutely gorgeous.
just wanted to clear that up
you know, the funny part is that you can look great even if you DO eat bread, sugar, salt, meat, etc…its just a question of balance and moderation. I feel really bad for celebs who feel like they need to restrict themselves so much just to keep their job. And the truth is I don’t think celebs would look much different if they worked out an hour a day and ate a balanced diet (that included carb), I bet the difference is impercetable.
I get the feeling that looking great in person and looking great on film are vastly different. Loook at this site (and others, many are worse), everyday absolutely gorgeous women are torn apart for how they look and the fact that they have dimple somewhere other than their face.
Think you’ve hit the nail on the head.
In real life, a person with a balanced and moderate diet could look great – but on camera, not so much.
When Paris Hilton came to SA for the WC, I was shocked to see how emaciated she looked in person.
I’m going to be ridiculous and say that she gained in her thighs….even though I know she is probably a size 2. She is very toned and beautiful, but the fillers in her face have made something seem very off, or very asymmetrical.
gaining in the legs is probably all muscle, those are some seriously strong thighs she has. i train my legs very hard and they are tone and slim but essentially have gotten ‘bigger’ in the years that i began exercising them intensely.
I never get her appeal. She looks so plain to me, anyways I think her workout regimen is very strict. i feel like I have a better body than her and don’t even do half as much as she does. I know many people who have amazing bodies and they have a healthy moderate diet and workout two/three times a week. Some people don’t even workout and look better than her! Well, maybe she has poor genes
poor GENES????????not working out and looking better than Jessica Biel??
wow, you must live in a perfect place only filled with malibu barbies, california chicks and cheerleaders where ‘poor genes’ like Biel are extinct
not trying to be bitchy or something im just, amazed
I often do the same “one cheat day a week” thing and eat really clean during the rest of the week. But after that I need a day to eat whatever I want, otherwise I would just start to binge.
yeah it’s supposed to shock your system, so it doesn’t know which metabolism to use (fast or slow), so it speeds up with the heavy calorie intake. kinda the same idea as changing your workout routine.
I don’t mean to be picky, but I just wanted to comment that we don’t have more than one metabolism (you said, “which metabolism…fast or slow”). There are many factors that influence metabolic function, and eating is definitely one of them (so is activity, age, etc.), but metabolism is an ongoing process that is always in flux, not a start and stop, fast or slow, either/or process.
OK, I’m from Europe and girls here everything (bread, ice-cream, pasta, pizza, hamburgers, chocolate…) and their avarage size is 2-4.
I’m overweight or above avarage (my jeans size is 6) but I do work out 4times per week.
I think celebs are lying when they tell what they’re eating!
Please: no meat, no breat, no carbs, no … what does she eats then? She’s not anorexic so she must eat something! And I don’t belive you can eat salads every day (withdout dressing or breat).
size 2 eh? dunno where in europe the average person is a size 2 nowadays.
she didn’t say anything about carbs. she can eat plenty without eating meat and bread. wake up. and yea, you can eat salads every day, add some fish/beans/peas/lentils/oil and you are good to go
yeah, americans may be much larger overall but i still don’t buy that the average european girl is size 2-4. sorry
Where in Europe? Been there in different occasions and many different countries, and I have to disagree.
I mean Southern and Eastern Europe, (maybe also Central Europe)
In my country there isn’t any Starbucks, Burger King, KFC, Wendys… (only McDonalds).
The girls I know all weight +/- 55 kg.
And about Jessica: if you want strong muscles you have to eat meat/fish (protesins) and only vegatables won’t give you that kind of body.
I tried eating salad and other vegatables (maybe I added a little bit of chicken/fish sometimes) but I got crazy after 3 days.
you’re right paulette! europeans aren’t this tiny! americans may be heavier, but europeans are going to the same way! besides all americans ARE NOT obese!
in Nina’s defense I think she has simply got her size conversions wrong, which is not that difficult since many sources tell you different things about EU – US size conversion. Also add to the mix the number of celebs who claim to be a “size 2″ it would be easy to think a size 2 is bigger than it really is. Nina’s mention of weight in kg sounds about right (50-55 kg is normal based on the girls i know), I think she just got her sizes wrong. Its not a big deal. What I got from her post was just that she is saying that it is enitrely possible to be slim and healthy without depriving yourself of any foods. Which is true. In europe, especially eastern europe, most girls are neither fat nor skinny, just a slim/average size (i would say about a us 4-6) and obese girls are not common.
I have to agree. I am from Israel, which is NOT europe, but we are essentially a European culture, and girls here are not a size 2 – 4! I would say most women my age (in their early 30s) are a 6 or 8. It’s true you don’t see a lot of obese or overweight people around, but you also don’t see a lot of super thin people around…everyone is sort of average.
Since when was there such thing as a european size 2???? Or did you mean US sizes.
i meant US sizes, since everyone else was?
Avarage size of my female friends is 36 (jeans) and 34 (skirts and jackets).
In my country I have big hips and tights (I’m a pear shaped and a little bit to many kg for my height) and I wear a size 6 in US (jeans * I was in NYC 2weeks ago), here my jeans are size 38/40.
Yes, all I wanted to say is you should deprive yourself, you just have to be moderate.
Nina, I think we are lost in translation here LOL.
I dont quite get my point and please dont think I am attacking you. You said girls “there” (Eastern Europe, I assume) eat “everything” and there size is 2-4. So I assume your point is, you can still eat and be thin.
However, you then say you don´t have Burger King, Wendy´s etc. So now I am very confused.
I agree that GENERALLY speaking, Europeans may be thinner than Americans. BUT also, it depends where in America you are talking about. Europe, even Eastern Europe is too big to generalize I think.
About Jessica, I am a vegetarian and I don´t work out more than 3 times a week precisely because I gain muscle easily and I prefer less “muscly” (is that even a word?) legs. May be she was a dancer or a gymnast as a child, and your body sort of has “memory” when it comes to muscle. At least mine does! It is true though that bodybuilders eat meat pretty often, but you can have those muscles without meat.
HAHAHA!! I dont quite get YOUR point, I DO GET MY point. (most of the times)
she also says, twice, that it’s “while she’s working.” I would assume that’s filming or whatever she actually does now.
There is much more food in the world than processed crap, salt and sugar. MANY people are vegetarian/vegan, not for vain reasons but for how it benefits their health, especially in the long run.
2-4 is the average? No. Way.
I’m from Europe too, and that’s definitely not the case in my country nor in any other European country I’ve visited.
The average is something like the US size 6-8.
i’m from Europe too..it’s true not all european girls are a size2, let’s keep it real, but in some countries it’s all about genes…i visited a couple of years ago Ukraine and i have never seen in my life so beautiful women like there!!!!!! you have to find really hard a fat woman there…they’re all thin and tall!!!! but what i don’t believe is that thingie with “i eat everything and it doesn’t go on my body…” bull**** well, and even if it were true, those persons are surely very unhealthy
sorry i meant “search* really hard for a fat woman”
I fell in love with her legs! Am I the only one? I want legs like those!!!
Mine are so thiin. I work out and tone them but gaining weight is TOOOOOOOO hard for me and my metabolism. Oh Lord I want legs like those!!!
TAKE MINE.
Or mine.
swap legs with me!! and get my metabolism as a bonus
Looking at that first pic, I dont care about jessica, look at the dog! Soooo cute, those dogs are one of my favourite breeds
jessica is not pretty compared to the cutey pie dog. lol.
Anyway, her diet sounds a little crazy, I can’t imagine not eating bread, sugar salt, or diary at all for 6 days of the week. Life would be so hard, I wouldn’t be able to have lunch out with friends or family, wouldn’t be able to go to bbq’s, all socilaization around food would be ruined basicly, except for one day a week. I mean yeah you could eat just a salad, but if all I ever ate was salad people would think I was anorexic.
Food is one of the pleasures of life, as long as you remember the key rule – moderation – I dont see the need to cut out entire food groups (asides from vegetarianism/vegans, there are easy substitues for meat now anyway, and soya milk)
I totally agree with you! I love to eat and I think that once you eat everything in moderation and work out you can look fantastic. I love salads, I eat a lot of them and they can be hearty and delicious, BUT, if she is eating them without bread, sugar, dairy or much meat then they can’t be that filling. I know she did not exclude all carbs, but I don’t think someone on a diet like that will allow herself to eat a lot of carbs, even if she hasn’t blacklisted them.
Well, take my word, when you gain weight easily, like I do, you MUST censor what you eat, otherwise you will prob. expand with every mouthful of bread. It=s the same for me: no salt (because I over-retain water), no sugar (because it makes my glycemia go high then collapse), no dairy (because it makes me bloated), minus some other stuff that I=m allergic to (e.g. soya products). But I can eat very well, just being careful to have my nutrients from beans, peas, fish, fruits, veggies, lentils, nuts, etc. and, of course, to have small to very small portions. And yes, from time to time, I let myself go and eat whatever I want. But then, I know from the very beginning that I=ll feel soooo bad and bloated and sick for the next two days after the ”feast”.
Another way of not reaching this critical ”feast” point is to just taste the food that I crave: just a bite of two and the lust is gone, or at least diminished.
So, for all of you girls who can eat normally and not gain weight, just enjoy life at it=s fullest, because you are really lucky!
At least she’s being honest. Some people really do have to watch what they eat to look like she does.
I also wanted to add: she might also be doing it for her skin!! I know when I eat a lot of sugar and processed food, my skin starts to looks so bad! Staying away from sugar, dairy, meat and processed food i.e. eating as clean as possible and mostly fruit and veggies definitely and shows on your skin and makes you look fresher and younger!
So I think it’s not just about weight.
She tries to live her life healthy. She has little slip ups here and there but it shows that she is trying to be healthy and I totally expect that if everyone just tried – we would all be very healthy. A lot of people just don’t want to try – because excersize is hard and junk food tastes good. But once you condition yourself to eat well and excersize you wont want anything else!
thats funny…”Biel also subscribes to the Kelly Bensimon method of a weekly six-day fast followed by a day of feasting.
“When I’m working and I eat healthily all week, I then give myself one day–usually Sunday–when I just eat what I want. You have to, otherwise your mind goes a little nutso,” she said.”
Kelly Bensimon must have skipped the “eat whatever you want day” a couple of times…that woman is coookadoodledo!
I think problem with gaining weight from eating normal is the first diet you ever made.
If you are a teenager your are influenced easily by media and friends and most 15 year old I know think they are fat (even if they are slim)
So they start their first diet.
From this time your body knows what undernutrition is so he will take from now on all calories he can get from your food.
result -> gaining weight but eating normal….
No way leads back.
think that’s the point!
yes that true, im one of those stupid teenagers and now my metabolism is completely messed up.
even if my daily intake is 1000 calories a day I still gain :S but thats my own fault
First off, I think Jessica Beil is gorgeous and looks healthy and fit. Her diet is not excessive in my opinion, but then it sounds similar to what I eat. My mother was diagnosed with diabetes in her late thirties and it scared me badly. I read up on the disease and even cut out most fruits and some vegetables for a while. It was extreme and unhealthy so now I avoid breads and sugar, dairy when I don’t want to be bloated, and allow myself to cheat for sanity and balance. Too bad eating similarily doesn’t mean having the same waist line.
I loved her in 7th Heaven!
She’s always been gorgeous. Lucky girl.
Great body, seemingly good personality, okay face.
In the 2nd photo they ruined her outfit with that horrible booties
I don’t agree at all!! The combo is great! So cool. The boots were what made the picture stand out. Love the attitude.
wait, WHAT does kelly bensimone or whatever think??? soo, restrict and binge cycle…great. thanks for the promo their Kell
absurd
what does that leave her to eat? carrot sticks? sheesh…no wonder she’s so skinny
You wondered what the gold was, in the movie Ulee’s
gold ? Wonder no further. If you read a little bit further
between the lines, that gold would be Jessica Biel.
