Jennifer Garner Brings Today’s Quotes
February 14, 2012 in Beauty & Body Image, Celebrity Quotes, Jennifer Garner by Versus

The great thing about growing older is that you do become more confident. If I have to dress up for something, I wear something true to myself, otherwise it feels like a costume. So my policy is to wear a dressed-up version of something I would normally wear.
I don’t dread it any more. It is a reality of the job. I always try to keep it simple. I love being the age that I am and am looking forward to being 40. I have figured so much more out about life and feel the older women get, the more beautiful they get. We become ourselves — which is something you can’t teach anyone at 18.
… says 39 year-old Jennifer in a new interview with The Sun.

Great quote. She always strikes me as really down to earth. I never found her beauty captivating but I do think her wholesome attitude and looks are great.
I agree
Good for her and I believe what she said. At 28 I feel more beautiful and confident than ever before. If you take care of yourself, life keeps getting better.
She is beautiful – especially on the inside! she seems so down-to-earth, natural and lovely.
Her quote is sooo true. I will be 36 this summer and I’ve never felt more confident with my body as I do right now. Even being 3 mths pregnant!!!
Congratulations for your baby!
Well, in that case, I can’t wait until i make it to my 30s…so far, i feel ugly worthless and cringe at myself when I look in the mirror..yeah, hopefully I’ll be as confident as ever on the big Three-Oh…I have 9 more years to go!.
It’s never to early or too late to start working on your self esteem…I’m sorry you feel that way about yourself. I bet you are beautiful.
Aww happyveg. nobody deserves to feel like that, you’re not ugly and you’re certainly not worthless, ok? Look at the mirror and just say ” I am beautiful. I am confident. I am not worthless.” Yes, it sounds silly (and you should probably do it when nobody’s around lol
) but the more you say it, the more you will eventually believe it because it is true!
Awww happyveg I hope your name rubs off on you! Never feel any less than beautiful
You guys are sweet!.I doubt my ways will change though. I really do try to force myself to like what I see in the mirror, but It fails every time.(so hopefully it’s true that my confidence will get better with age…because right now… it’s just horrible, but my mother ,who is 47 years old, has great confidence. She knows she looks good for her age. She can’t stay out of the mirror)
omg your mom sounds like my mom. and that’s all that she thinks is important. she needs to be complimented all the time *rolls eyes*
have you tried ‘when panic attacks’ by doctor david d burns? it’s a great book!I have the audio book. and honestly. it has confronted me with my insecurities. i hope it helps. anyhow,i always love your commentary, you are so positive and witty. you also have the coolest gravies. xoxo
If you’re in any position to, get yourself a really good therapist, happyveg. I used to feel that way about myself, from 12 to 32. At 34, and after an intensive 3 years of psychotherapy, I have a level of self-awareness and self-love that has bought me peace and liberation. It’s not everyone, but my own experience as a client and therapist suggests it works for many. All the best for your journey xxx
She has an eating disorder, she has mentioned this before.
You’ll make it
Although having been skinny and looking good I felt fugly until now at being 32 where I have a very clear idea of whom and what I want to be and what needs to be done to feel good
Been there, hv. And it really, truly, honestly, does get better.
But in the meantime, (and this may sound weird) if you possibly can, get yourself a pet or spend some time with an animal whenever you can. Dog/cat/horse/whatever. They will never make you feel worthless and they are truly blind to everything but your heart. They would love you exactly the same if you were 200 pounds heavier, covered in acne, bald, all three, whatever. Sounds kooky but animal therapy is very good for self-esteem/mental health issues.
If it helps I was exactly the same at your age. I even went thru a period where because I was working at home I was almost a recluse. It has changed in ways I wouldn’t have believed. Weird but age does help. There is some f&cked up rule where when you are your most beautiful you feel your most ugly. when you get older you start to realise what you had and have now lost, but the only thing you regret is not having fun. Or at least that’s how it was for me.
I agree with her. But can I add a thing? I can’t finally wait for the part when people will stop mistaking me for a teenager and asking my identity card and instead of saying “Oh, but you look like a teen!” they will say: “Oh, you look ten year younger!”
(pain of having a round face and perpetually looking 15 years old)
Ha…I would be so happy to be mistaken for a teen. I have always enjoyed being young — even when I was a teen and I was the youngest of any group of adults I was with, it made me happy. I think youth is one of the most precious things in life, and everyone wants to be young and stay young, especially nowadays. This is also why people are obsessed with being thin: they want to look the way teenage girls do. So if I were you, I would be very happy to be mistaken for a 15-year-old.
I agree, but I’m not happy right now to be mistaken for a teen. That’s why I’m waiting to grew older, so it will finally work at my advange!
She is SO BORING!
She is not boring. She is just a little more grounded than other Hollywood women, that’s all.
i should have conditioned that with *I* find her boring.
she’s right. you really get more confidence with age. i remember when i was a young teen i was worrying about such a nonsense, i.e. the mosquito bite on my leg was a tragedy to me, because all models had smooth legs in the magazines
I hope she is right, I know I’d like to be a better example of self esteem if I have kids as least. My mum is still always saying, as she has her whole life- “i’m so fat, i look terrible” or “oh Katy I’ve gained so much weight since you last saw me”. I think she’s the most gorgeous woman on earth, shame she can’t see it, even at 53.
sounds like my mom. she’s 55 and is the same way, meanwhile, I’ll be so happy if I look like her when I am in my 50s!
i love her! she seems very kind-hearted, genuine and grounded amongst so many opposites in hollywood
it’s funny that my mental confidence peaked at 17, and my physical confidence at 20… i bet i will work in the opposite way, ageing = less beautiful + less creative/smart = Noooooooooooooooooooooo llama Noooooooo!
haha i’m exactly the same!! well, i think i’ve got a couple of years left before my weird eating and sleeping habits catch up with me – but my brain is just not working as great as it used to! at this rate, hopefully i’ll be too stupid to realize i’m ugly when i’m 30
LOL i so get what you mean! graduating has decreased my genius capacities by 75%. Now my master plan for world domination routine consists basically of reading Harry Potter, sleeping 10 hours per day and eating Gummibärchen. Glory, oh glory…
ahaha thank you for making me laugh, i kinda needed that! sounds like you’ve got a plan.. can i join? although i’d rather watch the movies, i’ve got a thing for snape
I always thought she was the prettiest woman ever when she was on Alias!
She is radiant! She looks great dressed up or down, chisled or soft, makeup or none…she is so natural and her inner beauty just makes her that much prettier!
She’s right. I hope I finally reach that point where I’m actually confident & can actually honestly say that I like myself.
I wish that for you and everyone else on this site xxx
Motherhood is so scary. Having to accept a new body, if only temporarily, then having to make sure your child has a healthy self-image.
OMG she is STILL pregnant. I feel like she has been pregnant for 5 years!
gosh this girl is pregnant since i know for her
