wow they look amazing love them
PERFECTION.
The brunnette is super hot! It’s a shame, however, that a size 10 is considered “plus-size”.
I LOVE the brunette. I wish I had her body. The blonde, not so much.
i agree, the brunette is super gorgeous, face and body. the blonde’s face is pretty but less striking, and her body is isn’t as nicely shaped.
agree. the brunette looks gorgeous!! this is how plus size should look <3 the blonde isnt as nicely shaped though…
YEP
I totally agree with you! And also it seems strange to me that the two of them should have almost the exact same measurements! The blonde seems a bit rounder overall!
I agree with you all. And particularly with miss polyglot, that “blonde seems a bit rounder overall!” I think the same.
Also, i do not understand this “plus-size” stuff. Because size 14UK, 42EU it is a commmon size. If you go outside (in the real world), you will see the most of the women are around that size (plus, minus 2). And all their weight is in the size of bust and hips.
Plus sized is not about weight. Plus size is a fashion industry term of art to refer to models whose HIP MEASUREMENTS exceed the normal high fashion sample size. So plus sized originally meant any model, regardless of other appearance, who had hips that measured greater than 34 inches. People need to quit thinking of it out of context as a psuedonym for fat, heavy-set, average sized, normal or any other social terms for women’s appearances.
This is great, some average size models for a change!
Waist: 29”, 74cm
Hips: 41” 105cm
Hips: 41′,’ 104cm
I don’t believe it
There is no way they are UK 14! Not at model height, no way on earth. My friend is 5 2″ and a size 14 and looks the same size as these guys, I know loads of UK size 12′s and they are all much shorter and way, way way thinner. I call BS
i have slightly smaller measurements and i’m a uk 12..so yes, it IS possible!
as if those are their real measurements…
im the same height as them, i’d say they are uk 16-18.
yea at my heaviest my waist was 70cm…now it is usually around 60 to 65 max…and at 70 it really did not look that much bigger! i was still a size 4us…and i didnt look their size. not that its bad to be their size but am just saying i dont think they are realistic
i did a google search and i found their agency (12+ uk)
i don’t know how to express what i think about this agency… hey guys, look at this thin but not skinny model Paulina (dunno if links are allowed)
http://12plusuk.co.uk/index.php?fuseaction=model.model&model_id=47&page=7
http://12plusuk.co.uk/index.php?fuseaction=model.model&model_id=47&page=4
(should she be an oversize model???)
i can imagine this beauty really can have hips 40, her measurements seem to be nearly true, in addition she is tall and that’s why she is thinner as normal, thinner as the average.
And now check her measurements against Laura’s and Hayley’s…
12+ uk takes us for fools.
I think Laura and Hayley are still attractive but very corpulent, their bodies don’t look healthy to me. But these kind of people need also clothes.
me either. i believe the brunette. not the blonde. her waist is not 29 inches, and it is not more than 10 inches smaller than her hips.
neither Laura nor Hayley
my best friend is just 5’5″ and her hips are 40”, her waist is about 26” she is tiny and wears us 6
she doesn’t look like a chunk, she looks thinner than kim k and j lo
true, im 5″5 and weigh 130, my hips are 40, my waist is 25 i wear a size us 4 and i don’t look like this, either their information is wrong, or i need to clean my mirror
I always wonder how people with 40″ hips can fit a size 4 or 6? Thought it was a good size 8….
I’m 5′ 5″, weigh 125, my waist is 26, and hips 38, and I could never fit into a size 4. xD Doesn’t go past my booty. A size 5 or 6 fits. It’s all about the individual and the body shape.
Models rarely use completely accurate information though. So… who knows.
I seem to have the same measurements as lots of girls here. 40″ hips, 26″ waist. I generally fit around an 8 in jeans although its hard to find a pair that doesn’t get baggy on my legs. Dresses can get as small as a 4 if they aren’t too tight around the boobs (34-D).
I think I’m average… not “plus-size”.
Doesn’t look like it from these examples, but doing a google search there are pics where they look much slimmer and more like the measurements stated.
Whether it’s just unflattering photos or their size fluctuates I don’t know.
Holy guacamole! The second and third pictures just…blow me away! That is one curvy woman- and yes, yes, i know, that doesn’t mean ‘fat’ equals ‘curvy’- but her hip waist ratio looks amazing.
They look so healthy- soft but taut, no (visible) cellulite, no huge tummy areas, just big womanly curves.
I bet these chicas are healthier than Megan Fox.
I dont know that Megan Fox should be our model for “health”, but I know what you mean.
The brunette model is absolutely stunning, and her waist looks soooo tiny!
what I don’t understand is that it looks so tiny in the second and third pics, but then it doesn’t look so great in the first pic. Anyway, why is this woman considered plus-size? Are they now just going to call everyone plus size because it’s popular with the crowds or what?
Plus sized to the fashion industry is anything that isn’t ‘straight sized’, if its not a 0-4 then its a plus. They could have a size 8 as a plus if they wanted. It isn’t about the sizes you see in the plus sized department at macy’s, its about anything that isn’t straight sized is plus sized. That’s why they’re both plus sized for fashion.
Oh, ok, I thought plus size had to be above a certain size, not a 4, but more like a 12 or something. What do you mean with straight size?
Straight size is what they call regular runway models-the 0-4 ones. Unfortunately sometimes even 4 is pushing it bc they use whatever the sample size is for the models I think. So there’s straight sized and plus sized. Crystal renn talks about it in her book ‘Hungry.’ Its a really good book.
no visible and unvisible cellulite because of photoshop
sad but true
Same with all the skinny models! Unless they have it sucked out
well you can’t really tell…cellulite depends largely on genetics, i’ve know a super skinny girl with a lot of cellulite and ‘meatier’ girls with perfect skin…
how are they healthier than Megan Fox? Especially the blonde…very overweight. Lack of cellulite is due to Photoshop.
i’m sorry, they’re both beautiful but i just can’t get used to it …
Also, why have we come to think this is plus sized? I think people should just be called ‘healthy’ or ‘unhealthy’. Candice Swanepoel might be like a US size 4, but she looks healthy. But so do these two girls!
Maybe ‘normal’ models should be called undersized models?
maybe models should just be models
Thats more like it. Really gorgeous.
I’m sorry to say it but in my opinion they are fat, not normal. I hope i won’t be as fat as they are not even when I will be pregnant. It’s easy to look like that, let’s face it, no gym, eat more than I usual… They have beautiful faces, but the body i definitly don’t like it. Maybe because I like to work out, to eat healthy food, to have a toned body…
You are making assumptions about their bodies. On a normal day (which I would say is at least 6 out of the 7 days a week) I eat 1500 calories or less. I also go to the gym and work out two hours a day everyday.
My body looks like the brunette’s (a bit slimmer, but that’s because I’m a size 6 at 5’2″.)
Some people are born with unfortunate body types that do not lose weight or keep weight off easily because it’s genetic fat. My mother weighs under 110 and wears a size 6 in jeans because she can’t get off the weight that genetically packs around her hips and butt.
Obviously one can make assumptions about certain body types – obese people, emaciated people. However in between those, one cannot tell the lifestyle of a person simply from their size.
than usual*
you don’t like megan fox’s body.but u like this.seriously,ppl don’t be such a bunch of liers
they are obviously NOT perfect like some of you said..they just have the imperfections like we all do
all the girls have smth beautiful..but you CAN’T name these fat girls perfect
and don’t judge me because i used this word.this is reality
they are fat
well they are not perfect imo either, but I could understand them being perfect in someone’s opinion, everyone has different tastes…. And yeah the blond one is pudgy, but what is fat about the brunette?
i’m asking myself the same thing while i’m watching these pics!!!!!!!!!!!!! the brunette is not plus-sized model at all!!!! she’s just not anorexic or paper-thin…she’s curvy but not over-weight…what the effin’? she looks gorgeous, especially for a woman of that height.
I agree! Since when is a size 10 plus size!! Pretty soon, us size 4-6 are gonna have that label applied to us as well!
Though i agree that most ‘plus size’ models are fat, these aren’t… they look normal/chubby and that is exactly the point.
What pisses me off is how fake they look, skin wise.
holy cow!
kinda nasty pics tho the brunette has such a pretty face
they just have imperfections*
both girls look great though i don’t believe the blonde has a 29 inch waist.
I don’t think either of them have a 29″ waist, of course we can’t tell by looking at them & it depends where their natural waist sits (i.e. some peoples are a lot higher than others) but when the like of Doutzen and Bar have waists around the 25″ mark, i wouldn’t think that these girls have waists that are less than 10cm bigger
i agree 29 inch waist and 41 inch hips as well are not that huge
at 5’9”, a size 10 is most certainly NOT fat. something tells me that the people calling it such have only freshly gone through puberty. bad news, girls.. it’s all uphill from there.
your metabolism will slow down and you’ll get a whole lot less judgmental about who’s fat and who’s healthy. i just saw a picture of myself at 18 and i had the flattest stomach you’ve ever seen.. from eating kraft mac n cheese all day.
what irks me the most about society’s warped view of healthy is that we’ve trained young women to fear puberty.. as if curves (other than fake boobs and hip bones) are bad and that we should all look like we’re still 11.
I’m 27 and I work out not to look like this. Look at the brunet, her bottom is flat, but is so curvy on the hips, do u like it? I definetly don’t. I don’t want to be misunderstood, but those girls and the skinny ones ( for exampe V. Beckam) can’t be a role model…
they aren’t there to be role models, they’re clothes models. and imperfect people wear clothes too!
seriously violet, i think you’ve found the perfect explanation that should be used explain the fashion industry to everyone.
Nicely put
assuming this isn’t sarcastic lol then thank you very much
why do you need a body role model to tell you how to look? it seems that despite all the many images and people out there ( presuming you live in the real world surrounded by all sizes and shapes) you have made up your mind already about what you want to look like. so what difference does it make if the girls in magazines are fat or thin??
i’m well past puberty and have been for at least a decade, i eat healthy and work out, i am not anywhere near having a similar body to these women, i have a similar body to when i was 18-20. you can have curves and be skinny as well, i’m petite both in height and weight and i have a hourglass shape. what irks me is some people’s view to what is a “real women”
I agree, women come in all shapes and sizes. A “real woman” should be classified on what she does with her life, not how she looks…it might just makes some people feel bad.
Gina, I’m a black belt in taekwondo who works out 8 hours a week and eats a healthy vegetarian diet. My health is impeccable and my doctor says all my numbers are perfect. My body looks like the brunette’s body. You can deny it all you want, but that size body can be healthy, fit, flexible, strong and able to kick major ass.
hmmm… I don’t know what to say… I go to the gym 3-4 times a week, eat healthy food, but I look different… Depends also on your body tipe, but in my opinion a curvy lady who works out should look like J.L or Kim K. not like this.
i agree with you
welp…sometimes people’s bodies don’t do what they ‘should’ in your opinion. and you really shouldn’t call them ‘fat.’ i don’t call women who are too thin for my taste anorexic. it makes it seem like you aren’t considerate and don’t have a very good vocabulary, in my opinion.
Oh my, mermaid, why are you so bitter? I don’t find the word fat so offensive, it’s like calling skinny someone who’s very thin, which is what people do all the time. It’s doesn’t really compare to calling someone anorexic, that would be calling them obese.
fat is an insult where i grew up, whereas skinny is usually used in envy and admiration – oh my your so skinny, you lucky thing. but then my idea of skinny is low healthy bmi, not severely underweight,
Well Gina, my body simply doesn’t look like what you think it “should”. So I guess it’s time to realise that wishing/thinking doesn’t make it so.
(Only working out 3-4 times a week would be an off-week for me, and I haven’t had such a relaxed week in six months. I think it’s safe to say that I’m fitter than you.
And yet my body looks more like these girls’ than yours! It’s a marvellous, beautiful world with people of diverse bodies. Why would you want us all to look the same? There’s already one Kim K, lord knows we don’t need an army of clones.
I know it’s not a contest but….Rachael wins
My body is more on the “slim” side, but I honestly wish I had half your motivation/health. And if you look like the brunette – I wish I had your curves, too lol. Kudos!
agreed! we all have different bodies. i’m 2 sizes smaller than the brunette and by extension than you but you’re 10 times healthier than i am! and the brunettes body is stunning i think. soft, womanly and curvy. we can’t know if she’s healthy or not but i don’t really know why that matters anyway
agreeing with rachael by the way
They’re not clothes models, they’re never wearing clothes, if they did they’d look bad and they would make the clothes look bad.
Oh marge, be careful about how harshly you judge others, for what will happen if you should turn that judgemental gaze on yourself?
By the way, I have good and bad body image days like everyone else, but if I didn’t value my internet anonymity so much I’d send you a photo of myself in my gorgeous pink Missoni dress – my favourite of all my designer buys! Some designers are talented enough to make clothes that suit different body types! So don’t worry about those clothes looking bad, cause some are made for ladies like me.
Rachael, I’m extremely judgemental towards myself.
Missoni, which I love, is not your typical fashion forward brand, but I don’t want to get into this debate.
Thanks for the support violet!
You know the french caption describes them as ‘the new models.. the curvier ones.. the actresses and the 50s pin ups.. the “real” women’. :\ battle of the sizes.. looks are subjective why are we obsessing over this so much
To add to that… What’s sick isn’t that the generation above us has trained us to fear puberty (although that’s sick) its that every generation is trained by the media (and then the people through that) to hold ONE body type as the body ideal. Through the ages, there is always a type of girl who is left out and made to feel inferior. THAT is what’s sick. If we start having curvy models.. well the curvy girl in me is a bit smug… but it doesn’t solve anything? Then skinny girls would get left out.
Also, the debate about what guys like is totally flawed. Some guys like big, some guys like little, some guys like in between.. hec there are some guys out there who like women so fat they’re immobile!
I dunno. rant over
I agree. “De vraies femmes”… a magazine shouldn’t right that kind of BS.
I saw that too. I am getting fed up with hearing women with one body type being called ‘real women’ (as opposed to what? Fembots?). Though I have to admit I’m also getting fed up with hearing the comebacks because I already know what everyone’s going to say and know I’ll agree with it!
I agree with everything you said about each generation being brainwashed into putting only one body type up on a pedestal. The pendulum hasn’t swung completely to the other side, but even in the beginning of the plus-size ‘revolution’ slim women were feeling some of the backlash. The sad thing is, some angry bitter women feel the attack on slim women is completely justified because slimness has been held up as the ideal for a while.
i was just going to comment on that! makes me furious. only women with lots of fat on their bodies are ‘real women’? how is that even allowed to be printed in a magazine?!
Because real women are not a size zero. And these women aren’t fat. They are great sizes. This is showing that you don’t have to be a size zero to be beautiful. They are real women and beautiful
This is the kind of mentality that just generates more hurtful comments and more resentment and so on.
Yes, these women are real, and they aren’t that fat (actually I don’t find the brunette fat at all)… but “real women are not a size zero”? really? What an ***.
Depending on the store I shop in, sometimes I cease to exist.
Let’s not forget that even though these women have slightly fleshier bodies than the average fashion model, that still does not make their bodies the same as the average woman. 29 inch waist and 41 inch hips? They have been blessed with tiny waists and wide hips which will give them very curvy proportions, whether they lose weight and become thin, or gain more weight. The brunette in particular has a tiny waist. The “average” woman still cannot live up to the standard set by these models.
I am thin, and I feel bad about my body looking at these women. They have gorgeous hips and butts that I will never have unless I gain a lot of weight over my entire body, and even at my current weight, my waist will never be as proportionately tiny. Is it somehow better that women like me are made to feel boyish and unattractive?
i just wonder why a vast majority of “plus size” models are almost always only featured in nude or nearly nude photo-shoots, while its the opposite for thinner models
*shrugs*
Because they wouldn’t look good in clothes!!! I did a photo shoot last year and at first the photographer made me wear tights and a man’s shirt, I’m 5’5 a I weigh 120 pounds and I looked FAT! Then she took pictures of me only wearing a bra and leggings and I looked alright.
Girl that’s your perception of yourself because i’m also 5″5 but a couple of pounds more in weight and I know I don’t look fat in clothes.
I know I don’t look fat in clothes but I looked fat in those pics, and that’s what the photographer thought too even though she considers me far from being fat.
the brunette is really beautiful.
When i saw a headline i wanted to comment “am i the only one who’s fed up with plus-size models?”, but the i saw the pictures… These girls are gorgeous, very beautiful! What i love the most about this post is that girls are not overweight and fat, they’re normal, curvy, and have some meat on their bones!
P.S. 2nd picture is wonderful!
the waist measurements are probably bullshit. but they are stunning, regardless, so the measurements have no purpose being there anyway. the brunette is gorgeous. they look amazing. you would think this would be ideal. you would think guys would be attracted to women who look like women, who are curvy and are not boy-like.
stunning?! make them wear a pair of jeans and then let’s talk about it! No good looking/in shape guy would be attracted to women like them!
oh really, marge, because with a name like that, i have to assume you are female. so you aren’t a guy…and you therefore can’t speak for them. these women are beautiful, the brunette has one of the most beautiful faces i have seen in a long while…and guess what? guys would take that over the average too thin women, in my opinion. i have seen MANY women ‘like this’ (slightly thinner, slightly heavier), most often with LESS beautiful faces, get super hot, fit guys. guys who are very attractive.
Of course I’m a girl but I have to disagree with you… About 80-90% of my friends are guys so I feel like I kind of can speak for them, and every time my male friends see girls with pretty ugly faces but with hot fit bodies they say things like “OMG she’s so hot” and I ALWAYS say “But her face is not that pretty”… you know what they answere is?! “WHO CARES ABOUT THE FACE!!!”. I, as a woman like better a girl with a pretty face than one with a hot body, but guys don’t…
I agree with Mermaid, these women are SOOO beautiful! If you look at ancient art, greek sculptures, old paintings, fertility statues, etc. the majority of women have bodies like this.
So, there are men that have found women who look like this beautiful for thousands of years. To say that no guy would be attracted to these women is a bunch of BS.
Marge, it’s absurd to generalize like this! people are different, they like different things, ergo yes, there’s a great chance a lot of fit guys would absolutely adore a woman looking like the brunette. There are plenty of men who do care about the face. ok, maybe the blonde, Hayley, is a bit chubby, but stamping the brunette as “plus-size” seems so ludicrous. She has a stunning body!
As for, the “plus-size models only look good with no clothes on” comment, let me tell you that the whole point of fashion is to be able to dress women with various sizes so that they would look good. Are you trying to say a woman size 10-12 can’t look good in jeans? is that even serious?!
It depends on what numbers that 80-90% is based on. 80-90% of 5 male friends? 100 male friends? If it were 5 it would hardly be a big enough sample to say ‘most of my male friends think X, so most men in the world think X too’. 100 is a bit more reliable, but still isn’t quite a big enough number to extrapolate to all men.
Well I think marge is telling it like it is, and quite frankly being 5ft 10 and size 2 I think mermaids comments about this body being what guys find “ideal” is rude. What about all the naturally slender women on this planet? There are plenty of us, so is it right to send us the message that we are not “real women” and that we are not desirable? I’m not offended by the comment because I dont need to be, my experience in life has taught me better, I know that lots of guys like thin women. Lots of guys like bigger women, lots of guys like something in between, and LOADS of guys just like any kinda size woman as long as she is attractive. There is no need to be catty or competitive about it, there is room for every type of woman.
I agree with Snoops.
It was Kelli who started with a hurtful comment. Marge shouldn’t of generalized, but she was just answering back.
I think by now we should of all realized that a lot of men like Miranda Kerr, and a lot men like Beyonce, and a lot of others like both or don’t even care that much, so all this generalizing, all the “men don’t want girls that look like boys” or whatever seems more aimed at hurting people out of resentment than establishing an actual fact.
Awau: I don’t see the similarity. There are different kinds of fertility statues and none remind me of these girls. The greek statutes don’t either, they weren’t skinny, but they didn’t have big boobs either… You take Leonardo Da Vinci’s Venus and you’ll see she has small boobs, big belly, and no waist, nothing to do with this curvy brunette.
snoops – i never said that guys find this body ideal, in my last post, it was someone before me. double check when in doubt.
i will say now, there are plenty of guys who find this body ideal. not all, but plenty. i MY experience, men like all different body types – there is a guy out there, who could be hot, for every body. and some guys even like multiple body types. imagine that!
and i will reiterate my point that they, particularly the brunette, is so beautiful in the face, that it would override preferred body for most guys. maybe not the type of guys you hang out with, but the ones i know would probably be inclined to go after them based on their faces alone (just like i personally believe that megan fox has a lack-luster body, and most guys would actually agree, i think, but they would still walk to the end of the earth for her, based on her face and ‘sexy’ persona).
BUT these models, especially the brunette again, DO also have gorgeous bodies. they are curvy, have large breasts, one of them has a wonderful bum, and appear to be in a healthy weight range. most guys like women somewhere on the healthy weight spectrum, maybe with a preference for one end of it…but to be attractive one does not have to be at the low end of the healthy weight spectrum and as fit and muscular as the ‘fit’ man who could be interested. historically and biologically, there have been studies to show some preference in men towards curvy women of healthy weight (it makes sense from a reproductive standpoint), which means the majority of men should probably find the brunette’s body attractive – but there are many other factors, and while many men might find it attractive, they may find other people from kim k to maurissia miller attractive…and even then, there are others who don’t, for one reason or another like, curves. they might not like this body, but plenty of men would. so, your point about not caring about the face, is not only ridiculous, but also irrelevant, because there are plenty of men who would love this body type.
you asked why i was so bitter…and i am not. i am just curious about why you are so bent on proving that this body type is ‘fat,’ ugly, and ‘unattractive?’ what does it mean to you? after all, you could have just said YOU didn’t like it, but you insisted you know what all men want (which i *really* doubt) and called them fat, as if you are the determining authority (not just ‘heavy for my taste’ or ‘i think they are a bit chubby,’ but fat).
@ mermaid? who are you talking to? You started the post addressing me but then went on to talk about a bunch of things I never said, nor would I ever say.
On another note, It seems to me you are going a bit far to “prove” men prefer women like these over other more slender types. Lose the agenda, you need to realise you are not going to change anyone’s mind who doesnt already believe these women are somehow the most attractive to the opposite sex.(I dont believe there even is a “most attractive size” – its a myth and women are the only ones debating it!) The opposite sex speak for themselves in their actions.
Also, the history stuff is a moot point, there are many reasons why historicly large women were used to represent beauty, some would argue the biggest factor in this was that only wealthy women were able to achieve large figures in those days and as such it was these women in higher society who were posing for the sculptures etc. In the past and present HEALTH is what attracts us, in the past a plumper, well-off woman was going to live longer and with less ailmens than some poor skinny woman working her fingers to the bone. These days people live much better quaility of life and starving is not a problem for many in the developed world. Being lean actually comes with a longer life expectancy and unless someone has an eating disorder and is starving themselves to the point they dont even get their periods, fertility is not an issue. There are more women struggling with their fertility due to carrying extra weight and a diet high in sugar than women who cant concieve due to malnourishment.
And FINALLY – studies show it is waist-hip ratio that attract men in terms of fertility, one can be tiny and have an ideal ratio or one can be large and have a very unhealthy ratio, more than anything it is to do with genetics and not size.
I dont usually indulge in these long posts but since I am actually studying sociology and have a firm grasp on the subject matter i felt I should say something about your extreme simplifications.
@ Ella: yes dear, I only have 7 friends!!!! ahah
@Mermaid: since it seems like you didn’t really read my comments accurately I’m going to quote them all here:
When you attacked Gina for saying they looked fat I replied to you saying “oh my, mermaid, why are you so bitter? I don’t find the word fat so offensive, it’s like calling skinny someone who’s very thin, which is what people do all the time. It’s doesn’t really compare to calling someone anorexic, that would be calling them obese.”.
Then I said “They’re not clothes models, they’re never wearing clothes, if they did they’d look bad and they would make the clothes look bad.”
And “Because they wouldn’t look good in clothes!!! I did a photo shoot last year and at first the photographer made me wear tights and a man’s shirt, I’m 5′5 a I weigh 120 pounds and I looked FAT! Then she took pictures of me only wearing a bra and leggings and I looked alright.’ specifying that “I know I don’t look fat in clothes but I looked fat in those pics, and that’s what the photographer thought too even though she considers me far from being fat.”
And then “stunning?! make them wear a pair of jeans and then let’s talk about it! No good looking/in shape guy would be attracted to women like them!”
As you can see I NEVER said that I find them fat, ugly or unattractive! I only said that the reason why they’re not featured in clothes is because they would look fat in modeling pics, just like I do, even though I’m smaller. Honestly it means NOTHING to me, and I didn’t even say I don’t like them, because it’s not true that I don’t like them… I mean, I don’t like the blonde one, but the brunette has a beautiful face and a body that, even though I’d have lots of issues with it if I looked like that, I have to admit that it has amazing proportions.
The thing that really bothers me is reading comments like STUNNING, GORGEOUS, PERFECT, because these words in my opinion are for defining people who have almost no faults, and these two girls are not part of that group and the only reason why lots of people here went all “OMG so perfect” is that they’re not your usual fit/slender magazine girl and this is the thing that bothers me.
You may be right about the attractive boys who like women like these, but I’ve not been staying my entire life in the same town and not even in the same country… I have lots friends in Italy (where I am from), France, Germany, UK, US, South America… and I’ve always met and been friends with guys who like slender women the best, it must be a coincidence!
@Jenna: so happy for you, but love at first sight works in a way that’s totally different from simple attraction… I was by no mean talking about love.
@snoops and sharen: finally someone with common sense!
@snoops – i think it was pretty clear that i was addressing marge after the one comment to you, but i took a shot at how you misquoted me, so fair enough for you to point out my mistake. both were petty, but fair is fair. look, i understand all the historical and social reasons for the preference for ‘heavier’ women…i have taken several sociology courses, and believe me, pretty everything i learned, including the reasons for historical preference for heavier weight in women, was common sense – so i can assure you, i understand. but i wasn’t referring to their weight when i was talking about historical preference, i was talking about their shape – curvy. i went on to include even thin curvy women in this ‘type.’ and there have been studies that show men have a biological preference for dramatic hip-to-waist ratio, for fertility reasons. this can happen at all different types of weights. and i did acknowledge that men like all different types of women; in fact that was my whole point. i said they like all types of women, and if anything are slightly more likely to like this. i never said its all they like or even what they like best. the general idea in my post is the same thing as you are saying.
if i were going a bit far to prove that this is what men find ideal, i could site all sorts of studies and surveys and so forth – but all i am trying to prove is that attractive men could, and often do find women like ‘this’ attractive, contrary to what marge believes. no more or less, really, than most other things. that is my only agenda. i am posting to express my opinion, not to change anyone’s mind – you need to realize that. and i am entitled to do so, just as marge was. and if i shouldn’t than what is even the point of a message board? maybe there is some aggression, and perhaps pretense, that you could lose.
maybe since the college semester is over and you should be freed from all that study required for sociology, you can afford the little indulgence. i wouldn’t worry about it. a post here or there won’t really interfere.
@marge – when you say “No good looking/in shape guy would be attracted to women like them!,” you imply, by definition, that they are unattractive. i have also traveled quite a bit, and lived in both the us as well as several european countries, and in my experience, universally, men all have a preference for different things. and i know a lot of attractive men whose preference would happen to be for women like ‘this.’ keep in mind you didn’t even just say ‘these girls’ you said women ‘like this.’ how do you think that reads to someone who does look like that? i wouldn’t, but would it be very nice if i wrote that hot guys couldn’t be attracted to your body type, whatever it is? i would hope you have enough self esteem not to be hurt by it, but if you didn’t have much self esteem, the comment would be even worse. i am thinner than this, but i wonder when i read that ‘what if i gained some weight…would i be unattractive?’ its passing, but its unpleasant, and i assure you it actually is unpleasant for people of all body types to read that it is impossible for good looking men to be attracted to one type.
you are entitled to not like this body type, and men are as well. but to say that it is impossible to call them ‘stunning’ or ‘gorgeous’ or that they don’t deserve those words is wrong. for some people, they are flawless. i don’t believe anyone is flawless, but to me the brunette in particular is truly stunning and gorgeous. but so is annalynne mccord. i prefer this body type, i prefer large breasts, but i do believe annalynne is as deserving of such praise – i don’t view her flat chest as a ‘flaw’ though it doesn’t fit my own preference or ideal.
and just a word on the love at first sight comment – love at first sight, like almost any form of romantic love, but *especially* love at first sight, is in part based in large part on lust (not to cheapen it, jenna! but i hope you know where i am coming from!). love at first sight is probably the most passionate form of love – it wasn’t cultivated based on personality or quirks, it was instant. and i acknowledge that there is a sort of supernatural, deep connection involved, and it is a real type of love, but looks *do* play into it more than with other types of love (for example, friends of many years, who began to develop feelings, and then came to view each other as attractive). i pity anyone who experiences romantic love without any lust at all, lol – but then again, i am not sure i believe that would even be possible.
marge – Please show me where I said, ‘I bet you only have 7 friends.’
I was only giving an example of how percentages don’t really tell us anything, but the NUMBERS do.
pff! You have no idea how much you still have to learn about men. I bet your friends say that when you’re out drinking!
You can’t speak for them, trust me!
“No good looking/in shape guy would be attracted to women like them!”
you are extremely wrong, you only met a few guys (probably in their early 20′s), you can’t speak for all the men in the world.
I think you’re just extremely jealous judging by all your comments and you should take care of that before you start speaking for all the men out there.
Mermaid, I promise that this is my last comment.
I didn’t want to imply that they’re ugly by saying that a hot and fit guy wouldn’t like them, I just wantent to bring my own experience after having seen a very pretty friend of mine being rejected by LOTS of guys only because her butt is TOO big even though she’s at a healthy weight, one of my bestfriends not even being looked by guys for years because they thought she was too big and oly after she had lost about 20 punds she had a boyfriend for the first time, my other best friend who’s teeny tiny and all pretty and has a byfriend who, even though he’s a fatty, keeps her weigh under check, my ex boyfirend who, when my frirst year of college I gained 15 punds and weighed about 135 punds wouldn’t stop telling me to stop eating, go working out, lose weigh etc., one of my closest friends who met a girl in a club and when they went on a date ditched her in half an hour because her butt was too big (I guess they don’t really like pear-shapes around here)… and I could go on and on with other stories.
Would I get upset if I read on here that no hot guy would like my body tipe? No, and not because I’m that self-confident but because I know that life is out there and not on a blog, so I’d probably just think that my life experience is different and I wouldn’t care about the comments.
Should you feel ugly/fat if you gained weigh? I don’t know, it all depends on your perception of youself, the one year of my life that I weighed 135 pounds I felt fat, probably because I was made feel so by friends and boyfriend, and even by my mother.
I know very well what love at first sight is, I’ve experienced it myself for someone I never thought I’d be attracted to, that’s why I’m saying that it has nothing to do with “normal” attraction.
And again I want to make clear that what I said was not said because I find these girls unattractive, since I really like the brunette!
To give you an idea of what my perception of perfect is, I’m telling you that I don’t consider them perfect just like I don’t consider Annalynne MCcord perfect.
I consider perfect women like Bar Refaeli, Kelly Brooks, Shakira, Adriana Lima, Brooklyn Decker, Doutzen Kroes, Yolanthe Cabau van Kasbergen(please check her out because she’s GORGEOUS) Rihanna in her last bikini pics, even Katy Perry etc. The reason why I consider them perfect is that I feel that if I looked like one of them, I would NEVER be paranoid about my body.
Irina, stop saying that I’ve only met few guys because you don’t know me and you know nothing about my life! About the age, yes I’m 23 so people I hang out with go from they early 20ies to their 30ies.
I hate the “you’re jealous” jealous of what really?!?!? I said before that if my body looked like theirs do I’d have issues with it. And I guess I’m allowed to express my feelings about it.
My bra size is 34c my waist is 27′, my hips 37′… you know what I’m really jealous of??? Doutzen Kroes’ abs, girls with no cellulite (in real life, not magazine pics) because I have a lot of it, girls with small calves, because I find mine too big.
Hahahahaha that was so funny!
When I met my husband, I looked pretty much identical with the blonde girl here… I had very similar measurements, though i’m shorter. My tall, fit, dark and handsome husband (he was a model) fell in love on the spot and asked me to marry him 2 weeks later. 8 years passed since then and I assure you, he is still attracted to me. He is not a chubby chaser, just a guy who likes meat combined with curves.
What ypu said was hilarious, yet very sad at the same time. Girls, don’t believe such bullshit! The right man will be attracted to you no matter ho you look.
EXACTLY! Its not about one size for all, your attitude is grounded in common sense, some people are just getting too emotional over the subject. They need to realise there is not a war between bigger and smaller women.
I wonder about the type of guys you are hanging out with marge?…a lot of males I believe would find these women very very sexy!
They def look bigger than a UK size 14 though, especially for 5″9 or however tall they are. They are still attractive though, I just wish the measurements were more realistic.
the brunette has a pretty face, but body wise i don’t like either. and i’m not a teenager. i’m in my mid twenties, i eat healthy, go to the gym and usually walk instead of using the car, so i’m healthy skinny. i don’t think extremely skinny is a ideal, but i don’t believe this is either. everyone is entailed to their opinion since beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and i don’t find these bodies beautiful.
these chicks look pretty hot to me.
this is what I consider “plus size” models. they are beautiful, amazing faces (especially the brunette, she is amazing!), their measurements are bigger, but not extreme – in other words- they are not thin, but not fat either. I am absolutely ok with seeing models like these in magazines..
and of course they arent 29 inches in waist, but lets be honest- I doubt that for example Doutzen is 24 inches in waist… those official measurements are usually bunch of cr…
laura is really stunning
no matter how many magazines will do this “plus-size models” thing this trend won’t stay for long…it’s just popular now so the magazines try to earn more money…but i think this trend doesn’t affect the fashion industry…and tha fact that most of us women want to look like models is not really only media’s fault, its also our own fault, i think women theselves establish weird standarts they can’t refer to and media and men etc just pick it up and start the mass “injection” of this “standarts”
Its unfortunate but the skinny perfection problem is here to stay for looong time…parents can only try to teach the kids the importance of being healthy and active and see the difference btw “real” and “imaginative” (magazines, ads, movies etc with doll-looking girls).
and also i think a big part of skinny vs. fat problem could be solved if more brands would’ve introduced bigger sizes of all their clothes in shops, cause it seems to me that more people are concerned with this rather than the issue of weight and health
From these two models i like only the face of the girl with the dark hair and her waist…though their bodies in general and body types in particular are not to my taste,i like diversity and think everyone must be whatever he/she wants to be
People are catty and mean on here :\
I agree! We’re all women, with all different types of sizes. Why bother attacking each other in regards to size, etc – isn’t this a forum for discussing different ideas and understanding each others viewpoints, not trying to prove who’s better/skinnier/curvier and in general, “right”.
Dear Versus.
Well, I’m not sure do I have Hourglass or Inverted triangle body shape. From the front I look like a Hourglass, but from the back side I don’t because my booty isn’t big enough. My measurements are 36C-28-39. Shoulders and hips are the same size, but my shoulders aren’t round and soft like hourglass shapes have, they’re skinny and straight. I have high waist and my widest area are lower hips, but I also tend to gain weight in my high hips. My legs look heavy and I know that isn’t characterisitc of inverted triangle shape, so I’m a little bit confused.:))
Hourglasses have waists which are at most 70% of the bust and hips measurements. Yours are 78% and 72% respectively – you might be a stretched hourglass though, like Kelly Brook for example, who is a vase. I don’t think you sound like a V-shape at all, but only you can know how broad your shoulders are… are they your broadest part or are they nicely aligned with the hips? The high waist and curvy hips also indicate a vase shape.
I have exactly the same measurements as the blonde girl but no way i’m as big as her..
I am so over the plus size model shock value.
To me they look unhealthy. Nothing perfect or gorgeous about that.
Just a coronary waiting to happen.
Hey chester, I’m a healthy girl who does 8 hours of intense martial arts a week (I’m a black belt) and eats a vegetarian diet. I look like these girls.
I imagine this will be a weight off your mind (ha ha, get it?) so you can now rest easy knowing girls like us are perfectly able to be healthy and fit! Not all are, but not all skinny girls are either. Nevertheless, if you can’t change your mind, just don’t say it too loudly in public or you might find out the girl you think is unhealthy is a competitive martial artist.
awesome rachael xD
There is absolutely NO chance that those are their measurements my waist is only an inch or two smaller and although i’m certainly by no means skinny, i’m still smaller than them.
i love the brunette. sexy!!! awesome eyes and facial structure. i love the first photo of her…so curvy, sexy, natural and just hot! she just looks so…sexy! i cant think of anything else to say? just wow! usually i like slimmer and more toned…but her softness is just really appealling
Im sick of this plus sized “models”.There isnt anything perfect or beautiful about them…I dont say that size 0 models are beautifull, but i cant understand why there arent normal models like size 6 or somethin…Anyways i dont think this girls should be called models.
@ Mermaid I completely agree with you! the way you put it is so sensible and mature.
@ Aj,I am actually writing a research paper on that exact subject and could not help but be surprised how everything always comes around in a circle.
As far as the models go, the brunette is absolutly stunning in face and figure. Somehow the blond does not look as fit to me personally. Pretty, but maybe it is the slicked back hair in the bikini photo that is a bit off putting.
I don’t have a curvy figure but viewing these photos don’t make me feel bad or unwomanly, somehow it is nice to see more than bones.
thanks, zenjen! glad you appreciate my comments!
I think these girls are SOOO beautiful! The brunette is absolutely stunning, I think that she is just absolutely gorgeous!
And this spread is fantastic- finally someone got it right, IMO!
These girls are beautiful (especially the brunette)! And nothing about either of their bodies says “coronary waiting to happen” (chester). That being said, they don’t have perfect bodies, but that’s kind of the point isn’t it?. The whole plus-sized-model revolution (although it should not be called that) is trying to show that beautiful women come in many shapes and sizes, including super skinny. To me, this spread is one of the most real I’ve seen in a while, because these girls are “plus-sized” without being too big. (Tara Lynn, for example, has possibly the most beautiful face out there, but does not promote a healthy lifestyle by the way her body looks) These girls are big, but look like many women who eat healthy and exercise (a normal amount, not several hours 7 days a week), but who are naturally softer or curvier. Many women look like this, and should feel great about themselves! And Marge, If at least some guys didn’t like this body type, there would be MANY more single women out there then there actually are! But thats besides the point, because women should live a healthy lifestyle for themselves, not for the 80-90% of your friends that are guys…
You’re right. The point of the whole plus-sized revolution is to show that beautiful women come in all shapes and sizes, and I believe that this post rounds it out. We’ve seen very small, fairly big and this is right in the middle.
But if the point of this revolution is to make everyone feel comfortable in their body, it is NOT working. Society’s standard for far too long has been (for some) unattainable skinny.
I tend to fall in between a size 4, 6, and 8 depending on the article of clothing and I still feel inferior to the skinnier girls. It doesn’t matter to many people that there are beautiful girls their size in a magazine when their best friend wears a size 00 and their mom wears their hand-me-down jeans.
This “plus-size revolution” only further ostracizes bigger and medium-sized girls. They’re more-or-less being told “Yes, you’re beautiful, but you’re still not on par with those other, thinner models that we put on the runway.” In all honesty, I would rather this revolution fade from the face of the earth unless it takes on a different tone.
And then once that happens it’s time for the short model revolution . . . (lol)
Nice to see women who represent other shapes and sizes.
Still.. these plus size models do not represent the majority of women. these women are stunningly gorgeous, with “perfect hourglasses” and no cellulite. I dont see how this is more representative of “real women”…
plus, skinny does not equal healthy/unhealthy nor does curvy. we have to stop equating size with health. health is emotional, mental and physical wellness.
Emaciated women look the best in clothes and “plus-sized” women look the best naked.
sad but true…
THANK YOU FOR SAYING IT!
Wow, very nice!
I love the pic with the chair, but those sizes are bullshit, my waist and hip are only a little smaller, and it doesn’t look anything like that!
wow they look gorgeous!
i think its great that “bigger” women are in fashion magazines these days too.
but there’s one thing that bothers me, why does it either have to be plus size or super skinny? and they are all pretty much 5’10. Im 5’4 and i would really like to see someone who i can relate to in a magazine. im a size 6 which is neither skinny nor plus size and i feel like more women would feel confident if someone average like me was in a magazine.
thats just my opinion
The brunnete is pretty, I think she’s quite curvy. The blonde, :s
Who is the brown haired beauty? I want a name to call her instead of “the burnette”! The blonde girl, eh, not too fond of her look. The other one looks slim and curvy not plus size at all.
But I did mention her name in the post – twice
.
love how people are absolutely convinced that they KNOW the measurements of these girls, never met them, just saw some pictures, but KNOW without any doubt. i think the most interesting thing about this whole commercial enterprise is how people, ordinary people, who are all apparantly calling for normal sized woman in mags and on the catwalks, react when they see them, you have to wonder, is it denial, shock? i mean if you have those measurements you must look like this right? but in your head you look like a Vs model? if anything it tells us that the populace is not suffering from a body confidence crisis!!
LOL i so agree with you! measurements, just like sizes, are very personal, it depends on your body type/bone structure, i personally have almost the same measurements as the brunette girl (slightly less bust, more waist) and i look smaller, but not much, nothing strange! all these people saying ‘there’s no way they are this thin’ make me laugh…are you serious??just because you have a 26 inch waist and you think you’re thin (or you are) doesn’t mean there is no way this girl is 29..you haven’t seen her in reality, probably she is a lot smaller then you expect, just like super skinny models can look super curvy on pictures but flat in reality
Brunette chick is stunning… ummmm… how much do you think they shave off those measurements tho? I mean, I seeeeeeriously doubt the blond chick has a 29 inch waist…. nor a 41 inch hips measurement….
The brunette is beautiful!!!
Of course, there will be “fat” comments even on average sized women! Those people that called these beautiful, awesome ladies fat must have serious insecurities. I am sorry if I am offending anyone, but I, myself, feel terribly offended by those comments.
I am glad they are only a few and the rest of the comments are positive and supportive.
I just wanted to add that I went online to 12+UK Model Management, where both of these girls and also Tara Lynn are from, and they have some GORGEOUS models! I hope we see more of them on this site.
sexy gals!
Sexy as hell!
I think that’s a lie. They cannot possibly have that waist measure, IT’S JUST NOT POSSIBLE. My bust and hips are smaller than theirs but my waist is the same as hers, and also they’re very tall, so i don’t believe those measurements, where did u got them from?
The blonde one is definitely lying about her stats. NO freaking way. As a matter of fact, I have a 29 inch waist and 40 inch hips myself, and I look QUITE different from her — I look more like Kim Kardashian.
Also, yes, I second the comments above that their wonderful, toned, cellulite-free body is a product of photoshop.
I also don’t for one second believe that the brunette really looks like that from behind. That’s photoshop as well.
I am SO sick of these overweight models being photoshopped to death and then held up as some kind of paradigm of reality and acceptance!
I think they look good, healthy, and normal. Why such an ugly swimsuit on the blonde? Very unflattering. They look fine to me but I hate the clothes.
I feel like their bodies look like mine, even though I am nowhere near plus size. What gives?
Their bodies look like mine and I’m a US size 8. Want to know why? Because I’m 5’5 not 5’9!
lol Try being 5’2″
*eats popcorn* *orders chinese* *Still is reading arguments* My opinion on this whole “plus sized model” debate is different strokes for diff folks. What’s good for the geese is good for the gander. So unless you have dissociative identity and your alters happen to be a plethora of men or unless your a girl who has thousands of guy friends stop trying to speak for men as if you know what is ideal to them. Some men gravitate towards 0-4′s other like 6-10′s and some 12-18′s and so on. And as for people using Venus de Milo as a standard of perfection Venus was that to the Greeks around that time. The same can be said for Venus de Velendorf. However if you would have done your research you would have also found out that as well being the standard of perfection they represented what a fertile woman is supposed to look like and are very exaggerated to further perpetuate the aforementioned. In art they are far from realism they are the complete opposite. As far as the models themselves I would love to see more 6-10 girls and no I don’t think they are plus sized. Plus sized models should be girls who are sizes 12-18. I love Tara Lynn as much as I love Giselle. Variety would be nice.
To Marge… ‘because these words in my opinion are for defining people who have almost no faults’
But that’s what most people are arguing. It is not for YOU to say who has no faults. YOU think no faults is slender, I do NOT. Someone else will disagree again. You don’t get to define beauty by what you or your twit guy friends think, because it’s a big world. Say that you find it ugly, but don’t say every man does. You just sound ignorant.
Ohh you did write ‘in my opinion’ at least.. but still
You sound much more ignorant than me since you call me so without even knowing me. I can’t say I don’t like them because I do like the brunette! At least you acknowledged that I said in my opinion… and again. I do like them!
yet you do nothing but putting them down and all the women that look like them……!
Yeah wtf.. I think you’re confused marge
its nice to see plus size models that arent’t hugely overweight for once. These girls are curvy but definently not overweight. I know when i had those same measurements at 5 5 i was only 150 which is a little heavy but still healthy. And these girls are much taller than me so there weight is just right. Also it is possible for them to have 29 inch waist since i did all depends on were ppl carry ther weight
well said
Tthey both look stunning, lucky women! They’re really well-built, no visible flab or something. Just bigger bone structure and a bit of meat here and there (in the right places!)
they’re gorgeous!!
This is the thing:
FAT = UNHEALTHY. These women ARE NOT FAT.
To call these women fat is to insinuate that they are unhealthy. Conversely, skinny women, models, and the like, are immediately presumed to be healthy. Skinny can be unhealthy- in fact, a certain type of skinny REQUIRES that the woman be unhealthy to maintain it by not eating well.
To me, these women are supremely healthy and normal sized. They have fat accummulation in all the right places, and their waists are defined and not oversized. They do no have rolls of belly fat or a huge potruding tummy. They probably work out and eat well, and this is how they are built.
When was it presumed that a healthy, fit girl must be slender? So many slender girls look terribly unhealthy- to me, Victoria Beckham, Megan Fox, Renee Zellwegger all look REALLY unhealthy.
I bet Tara Lynn and these girls could out run them, are more flexible, and far better eaters.
These girls are normal sized. Being ‘healthy’ does not mean having a certain size.
I’m not saying obese is healthy, but WHERE did people get the idea that skinny automatically is?
Newsflash: most of the girls traipsing up and down the catwalk are undernourished and unfit, and have to lose weight off naturally skinny frames to stay in the industry.
I agree with you about the fact that they are healthy
but people like VB, Megan Fox and Renee Zellwegger.
I also want to reply to the person who said that skinny is a compliment while fat is offensive by copying here what my dictionary says:
THIN describes someone whose healthy weight is naturally low in proportion to his or her height, although it may also imply that the person is underweight.
SKINNY is a more blunt and derogatory term for someone who is too thin, and it often implies underdevelopment. (seems offensive to me)
Most people would rather be called SLENDER, which combines thinness with gracefulness and good proportions, or better yet, SVELTE, a complimentary term that implies a SLIM, ELEGANT FIGURE.
And after all skinny translates with maigre in french and scheletrico in italian, and both terms are considered VERY offensive.
I forgot to write part of the sentence!
… but people like VB, Megan Fox and Renee Zellwegger are not to be considered slender… they’re too thin for that.
Oh, and before people think I’m some obese person trying to convince myself I am healthy and curvy, I am 5’3 and a US size 4.
fat fat fat
me no likey
@marge: I apologize, I realized I’ve offended you with my comment. You should know I do not judge a person’s character by their measurements so that wasn’t necessary; and I make assumptions about someone based solely on what they write or do (not on my imagination).
However, given the reaction to your words, you should at least consider the possibility you are wrong. Your opinion on men and their preferences is based on something limited (just a hook-up), while the rest of us base it on choosing long-term partners, having babies with partners (this is what anthropology base their theories on most of the times as well). I have lived in different cultures and countries and average size women always had the upper-hand on the rest. Men don’t care if you have a bit of tummy or heavier thighs as long as the most important parts are appealing to them (like breasts and bums). They don’t even notice a little bit of cellulite and they are definitely less critical on a woman’s body than women are….. Of course there will be exceptions, but this is for most of men.
Girl, you gotta learn to love yourself and understand you ARE beautiful.
There is no such thing as perfection or no flaws. We all have our little imperfections, it is what makes us unique. This means we live in a world of diversity and diversity is beautiful and should be celebrated (what this post is about).
heyyyy the brunette has the same measurements as I have! Only I´m only a size 42 at the bottom? 42 in a dress is way too big
I don’t believe their measurements. mine are almost the same as the brunette and i’m way thinner than her.
Sorry but I am 5’5 and 110 lbs or 36-24-33 and I would take my body over these model’s body anyday. I am sorry but 41 inch hips are fat. The brunette face is amazing and if she lost 20 pounds she would be drop dead gorgeous!!
“I am sorry but 41 inch hips are fat”
Actually it depends on pelvic structure…plus the true hip measurement should include your whole butt (so many people don’t measure properly).
33 inch hips are very small (US size 0) and only typical of females with a narrow pelvic structure, which I assume you have.
Is it just me or do plus size models always have gorgeous faces?
There you have something to entertain yourself! , you can just look at the next post TARA REID, what you can expect from that anorexic body! any way the girls from this post look very good and healthy!
nice!
Rubbish that they have 29 inch waistlines. More like 32-33.
I don’t know if i agree with those measurements. My measurements are bust:39” waist:30” and hips: 41”. I wear a size 8 and when i was slightly thinner, with a 29” waist i wore a size 6! No way they have a 29” waist and wear a size 10! However i definitely think they look good. They look like real women. They could be your sister, your co-worker, your best-friend. They look like real people! They also look healthy. I know it’s important to represent the plus size community and be comfident with whatever size body you have, but it’s also very important to be physically healthy. I do think, however, that we should bring all sizes into the modeling industry. Why does a model have to be pin-thin or plus-sized? What’s wrong with a size 4 or size 6 sized model?
wow, lots of comments, I wasn’t even able to make it through them all. Clearly the issue of plus sized models is hot on everyone’s mind. I have so many thoughts and responses to some of the comments I don’t even know where to begin.
First of all, ALL of us are beautiful regardless of size. Body weight as a symbol of beauty is very much a social construct.
Second, weight often has very little to do with health- we are all genetically predisposed to be a certain weight. Women should not have to kill themselves to try and fit into an ideal that is unrealistic for them. Some women are healthy skinny, others are healthy fatter. A woman that is healthy when fat will NOT be healthy skinny and this is what concerns me with the dominance of skinny girls in the media. We create a world where eating disorders and self loathing run rampant.
Thirdly, I agree with people who say they don’t appreciate the “real women have curves” comments. Actually, real women come in ALL sizes and shapes. However, if you are angry about this don’t hate on the curvy girls, hate on the media.
FINALLY, the models!! The brunette is SO stunning to me. Actually I have seen these pics already and the one of her sitting down I find to be particularly inspiring to encourage those of us who have been miserably dieting all our lives to embrace who we really are.
Girls, living on salad is no way to live! Eating is fabulous, and so is being curvy if that is how you are meant to be!
I still don’t understand all the fuzz around plus size models these days,,, why have they suddenly become so popular, in every magazine, etc, I mean, these women are not to look up to, it’s not a good body shape, not healthy… they shouldn’t be put anywhere, because small children are looking up to those ”models” in magazines and this is definitely not what they should see, especially with all the overweight problems today!!!! Either shouldn’t they look at the skinny fashion models, but I would rather starve myself than look like this…
*shakes head*
well, then honey, it is a free country so you can starve yourself all you want. But keep your poisonous opinions to yourself. I may personally not find thin women attractive, but I wouldn’t call them anorexics or say “if I ever was this thin I would engage in unhealthy behaviors to remedy the problem and maybe get rid of the self hate and body loathing that I have for myself.” Or say they were not real women, as some do. Anyway, at least you have a good personality, no?
These girls look healthy and proportionate. When was the last time someone took pictures of you and put it in Marie Claire? This body type was the ideal for centuries until twiggy and the 90s heroin look. I’m GLAD the trends are changing. If you don’t like it, I guess boo hoo to you.
I rarely come onto this site but when I do I always find these discussions really interesting. I have to wonder why we care soooo much. These women were hired to a job and this job happens to be modeling. There are many women in modeling my husband has pointed out to say he doesn’t think are attractive. Some of them smaller and some of them bigger. These women have not crossed the line of what men think is unattractive body wise. Look around you at the world I’ve seen many couples who fit the description of an attractive fit guy with the likes of the girls above and with smaller women. They generally do seem to be pretty and these women are prettier than many people I’ve seen walking down the street. I try not to be judgmental about looks too much because it makes for an unlikeable person and I prefer to like myself. I take care of myself pretty well so obviously I value looks to a degree. These women make nice models and I’ve seen women like them in clothes and they can in fact look very good in jeans. I’ve seen thinner women who make good models as well. These are my opinions and there are enough people who agree with me to make hiring these women for magazines possible. It’s a job. Someone thought they were beautiful enough to be in magazine. To those who are so very critical: When was the last time you were hired to be in Vogue, Glamour, Marie Claire, or Elle?
I think the brunette is absolutely gorgeous. Her body is very well balanced and she has some softness in the right places… She would look great in a dress with cleavage, a nipped in waist and a slightly flaring skirt. She’d also look great in casual clothing.
There are different clothes for different body’s. Leggings and a big shirt aren’t flattering to most girls I believe, but a slender, tall girl can look really cutting edge and thus ‘hot’ in those kind of clothes.
I think people saying the brunette is FAT are horrible, and I would really like to see pictures of their body’s/faces.
Everyone has a different taste, but to call a girl with a clearly defined waist, regular hips and nice, big boobs FAT is just calling for young girls to develop anorexia.
“De vraies femmes”
Ugh. I hate that. Can we stop calling a very specific type of woman what “real” women should look like. It’s so unfair and only succeeds in further objectification.
Just because a woman looks like a 1950s pinup doesn’t mean she’s a “real” woman. Popularly recognized “female beauty” has changed from decade to decade. That makes about as much sense as saying a woman who looks like a 1920s pinup looks like a “real” woman.
The model is so so beautiful. If I had her body, I would always walk around naked. My boyfriend thinks she’s very very “pretty” too. He just managed to duck a swift kick in the nuts. lol
the look hot to me. i have no prob with them.
Laura looks gorgeous its ridiculous. She looks like Sophia Loren in the table one. Sort of like Linda Evangelista too. Amazing.
The Brunette is GORGEOUS !
I can’t believe how many brainwashed and jealous comments I am reading from people on this site. Women have been manipulated in modern day society by the media and therefore do not know what a normal woman’s body looks like. A normal woman’s body has some bumps, curves and heaven forbid boob and an ass. The reason why a lot of bigger (bigger than the size 0 models) models are portrayed in naked shots is to that we (the consumer) can see what we haven’t seen for so long in print, a woman with real curves. Also, i have read some idiotic comments about these women not being healthy. Get over yourselves! Do you know it’s more unhealthy to starve and workout 7 days a week than to be 20 pounds overweight? BMI is rubbish, many doctors have written articles on it. Learn to think for yourselve and quit being so critical just because bigger women are finally getting their chance to shine. Lets face it, most men want a soft woman with curves, not a woman who is always dieting. I bet these women have better health than many women who are always on diets trying to be a size 0.
I think both Crystal Renn and Uma Thurman are gorgeous people- because both are HEALTHY. You can’t tell health from size alone, no matter what some people online (even in these threads) might try to tell you. The only exceptions are if someone is obese or has an excess of fat in the abdomen WITHOUT a reasonable distribution of weight around it. You can tell that someone is at an unhealthy weight if their eyes and hair are dull, their skin is dry, or if they are lethargic (I doubt anyone here could tell those things with either plus-size or regular models due to airbrushing, though). Too many people assume that if a model is bigger than the straight-sizes (0-4), they eat cheeseburgers all the time and don’t work out. Tell that to some female Olympic athletes, please. We should never assume that people over size 4 COULD be a size 4 “if they tried and/or really WANTED to.” In doing that, we are making it a personal failure for people without the ABILITY to be a size 4 or smaller to be anything other than just that. Imagine how that must feel to the size 12 who works out every day and eats a balanced diet but was blessed with her mom’s hips. I’m a size 6 and in good shape, and I can hardly stand the pressure myself. People around me say that I have a great body, and if I lose weight I’m told I look unhealthy. And yet I always feel bad when I look at the mirror, wanting to be smaller. Because I know that modeling or acting agencies would pretty much reject me sight-unseen for being too big. I’m not saying I want to act or model, but I think a lot of us judge ourselves by celebrities and models chosen by such agencies, and I’m not ashamed to admit that I tend to do it too. We’re basically encouraged to do it. It’s insanity. And women perpetuate it by being negative or criticizing others’ bodies based on the opinions of the media.
I used to be that size of the those two models. I cannot tell you all attention i got from men it was overwhelming and astounding. I exercised every day and ate healthily. Now, I am overweight, but getting back to being healthy again.
Real women come in all heights, shapes and sizes. It should be about being healthy and balanced, not if you are this size or that size, ample bum or breats, or what have you. Who the hell cares if others are slim and put you down for being curvy or visa versa. Be yourself and revel in it. Stop the bloody comparing all the times.
I admit they’re curvier than the average model/supermodel but most females are this size in the average day to day world but in the modelling world these girls measurement would be ”plus sized” or even fat to a greater extent…
They’re…just too…tall.
I’m really annoyed by the article (in the magasine) claiming that they are real women since it makes it sound that only hourglass/pear shaped women with meat on their bones are “real” when everyone should accept their body shape…
But I’m even more irritated by people claiming that they know what their measurements should be just because they think they look thicker than that.
Really, you can take three or four different person with the same measurements or wearing the same dress size and yet none of them will look identical.
One of my friend is a size 8 (uk), very thin, pear shaped, small bones, 32B, she sometimes has to take a size 10 for her hips, she looks thin and boyish even though she has a 0.7 WHR and problems with clothes because the trousers are always too big aroung the waist.
She is also 157cm, so not a tall girl looking like a model and it’s really strange when you realise that she has curves and know her measurements.
Another one is pear shaped too but a size 12-14, thick bones but narrow rib cage, a C cup (narrow shoulders) but most people guess she is a size 10 at most and think she should be a size 8 (which is true for tops sometimes).
It’s so strange since another friend of mine has almost the same body shape (but with a E cup and very narrow shoulders, a more dramatic WHR) is a size 10 and people think she should be a size 14.
As for me, my measurements are 34-25-35. I used to be fatter and had measurements of 38-28-38. (Though my belly can balloon up to 27 because of my food intolerances).
The last one sounds curvy, and the first one thin. I wear a size 8-10.
Actually, I am tick-boned and V-shaped (though more on the rectangle side). I look boyish but thicker than I am. I have been professionally measured and still don’t understand how I could be so “tiny” since I really look fatter than that (by the way, my size 14 friends think I wear the same size as they do, it’s so embarrassing when they offer me clothes and they don’t fit at all).
Measurements can’t tell everything about yourself, there’s so much things to look at.
I think the brunette is stunning and she looks quite thin to me, her tummy is so flat, I would kill myself to have such a feminine figure.
Oh man. That one completely nude photo with her laying on her hips/upper thighs? PERFECTION. Beautiful spread.
