Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Brings the Quotes of the Day
January 24, 2010 in Celebrity Quotes, Hot Models, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley by Versus
On tanning:
“I think most women will admit that they look better when they’re brown. I fake tan–but I don’t recommend sunbeds–and at work, they’ll put body make-up on.”
Beauty tips:
“Good sexy bedroom hair should be just a little tousled, nothing too neat. Also, drink a big bottle of water every day, as it will take away puffiness–Fiji is best. Everybody rolls their eyes at this tip, but it does work–water is the drug of God, that’s what I say.”
…says VS model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

PFFFFT. I don’t look better “brown” and I resent this beauty mantra that tanned=healthy, and pale=sicky, when it’s completely the other way around.
To me, when I see tan, all I can see is DNA damage, and cells putting up deffence mechanisms. Oh, and faster aging. Yeah, so sexy… not. And fake tanning looks awful, who wants to emulate the oompa-loompas?
As for specific brands of bottled water, LOL. Water is water, I can’t believe people who pay more for “special” water, aka paying more $$ for the brand name. It’s H2O people. Same thing that flows out of your faucets. As for health – well, you’ll just have to chose which poisons to ingest – pipe residue, or plastic toxins dissolved from bottles due to sun exposure. From what I’ve read, the pipe water is actually better for you. Plastic carcinogens are quite potent.
i disagree. not everyone who is tanned is “orageish” or has skin problems (of course if you fake tan or expose yourself too much at sun/sunbeds you will), but many people have a natural “tan” complexion, even if they never sunbathe…
i personally love pale skin, but it doesn’t look good on anyone, same as tanned skin…for my personal experience people look best with their natural skin color, being it pale or tan
Um, I personally *have* a natural “tan” complexion but that’s such a misnomer. My skin doesn’t look tanned, it just looks darker then pinkish-white.
I just put pale instead of “untanned” there. I didn’t mean pale as in ghost-white, just not burnt-looking.
It depends on if that “pipe water” contains fluoride.

It is one of the main components of rat poison. I don’t think anyone with good sense wants to drink that. Furthermore most city water supplies contain medications that cannot be processed out of the water such as Prozac and even hard anti-psychotics. As for bottled water-well that’s just a wash because most bottled water is tap water.
totally agree on both points!
lol i dnt think everyone looks better brown
nd my frinend who fake tan look more orange unless they go to the real good ones nd pay a lot of money to get it done…
wif the water i agree wif suzushii, water is water doesnt matter which brand u choose
but i reckon water does work wonders
The tanning thing, it’s good she doesn’t recommend sunbeds with the skin cancer risk and endorses faking with makeup. It’s a long way to go until light skin is in. Ideals change through centuries regarding skin colour (for white people I’m meaning); in Henry the Eighths time pale was in, now it’s the opposite.
And good on her for the water thing. It’s true =) [not the brand bit though lol, water is water]
ew her upper thigh is disgustingly thin.
And I don’t look better brown, either!
especially in proportion to her calf.
I’m not sure if they went photoshop happy on her thigh or what…
“I think most women will admit that they look better when they’re brown.”
I think Donatella would definitely agree! http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/43289554.html
As for fake tan, since when do people look brown? It’s always orange. Sometimes it’s more of a light orange, sometimes it’s a dark orange, but IT’S STILL ORANGE. People have a warped perception if they actually believe that their fake tan looks good.
Ahh thanks for those disturbing pics
eww..
OOhh Donatella NO!!! She should be poster woman against sun !!! Man that was hella disturbing
OMG!!! I will be having nightmares tonight…. X-|
(it looks like an photo of Cancer)
As for drinking lots of water, she’s right. But as some people have already said-water is water and it doesn’t really matter if it’s Fiji or whatever. Drink water from the tap and the effect will be the same.
However, I don’t agree about tanning. Slightly tanned body might look more attractive but being orange-brown is a big no no. I personally feel quite unattractive when my face is very dark… Tan conceals facial features.
you’re right
i hadn’t heard much about her until the chicke episode, but now i feel like she’s all over :// but i think she seems like a fun and genuine person, and i like her name. of course what she says is not quite politically correct and true, but everyone would agree about the water…of course any water is fine as long as it’s clean, but some people are just a bit pussy with their water (like i hate pixing two kinds of water, even if it’s almost the same kind, i immeadietly taste it), and you know, if they have the money…as for the tan, i am very pale and that doesn’t stop me from feeling good, but most people would agree that tanned=exotic and that they feel better durin ghte summer holiday than during the pale winter holiday. and honestly, if all VC models were pale and all, they wouldn’t look quite as sexy.
but definetely: either a natural tan or pale or spray-on, not sunbed.
My personal preference leans towards tan so I do kind of agree with her. Unless you have that glowing, radient white skin, pale skin does tend to look sickly. And not all fake tans make you look orange; it depends on how white your skin is, how much you get, and how much you pay.
Her water suggestion is also a good idea. It’s amazing how many people don’t get enough water. But for those suggesting tap water, I would add that you should drink tap water only if you have a good filtering system because a lot of places have too many “salts” in their water which can put a burden on the kidney. In that case, drinking water does the opposite effect than intended.
Casey well said I agree with you exactly. I naturally like tanner skin, but only if it is glowing and healthy of course. Not orange lol. As for water, ohhh boy I drink a gallon a day! I can’t go a couple hours without having water I love it!
Her thighs!!!!! Wow!
I think the reason she says brown is better is because color, tan, whatever better highlights your muscle definition. When you’re whiter or more pale, you can miss the cuts, the lines, so celebs all the time will tan up because it can make some look skinnier and highlight the work in the gym you HAVE or HAVEN’T done enough of lol. I don’t think you can really argue with that one. It doesn’t mean pale is ugly, but the dark part of the “tall, dark, and handsome” equation is kinda yummy, and like I said, highlights your def. more.
As for drinking water, that rule couldn’t be more true. But it ISN’T true that water is as good as any other water. Most things demonstrate a better quality when sided against their rivals. Fruits grown on one farm can end up with more nutrients than one from another farm, and so water isn’t exempt from that rule which applies to most other things. A water from your tap, chlorinated and whatnot will not necessarily be the same if you were to go to an ever-flowing spring. I don’t know much about Fiji, but I do know I drink water all the time.
She looks beautiful here but partly because she’s covered cause lawwhhd knows she’s too thin. Beautiful face but…….. whatevs she looks good here. And I like her honesty she seems very down to earth.
I know this is going to sound awfully redundant since so many people before me have posted the same thought, but I couldn’t disagree more with Rosie’s statement about tanning. I actually go out of my way to NOT get a tan. I stay out of the sun the majority of the time and I make sure to wear sunscreen if I am in the sun. It’s ridiculous to say most women think they look better with a tan. There are so many gorgeous tan celebrities out there, and I am fairly sure that they have the money to get top-of-the-line tans. For example, look at Anne Hathaway, Kristen Stewart, Nicole Kidman, Marcia Cross, and Michelle Trachtenberg. All are pale, and all seem quite happy being pale.
I don’t mind when I get paler in the winter but when summer rolls around and I get some color I do think my skin looks a little better. It really depends on the person. But being super tan in the winter just looks weird, and you know the person is fake baking, which is gross.
And I agree with her, Fiji water is really good, but I wouldn’t go as far as endorsing it more than any other water.
I think people should be as tan or pale as they want, life is too short to worry about every little thing and it’s aesthetic appeal.
However, as a very pale Irish girl, it always cracks me up when anyone talks about how pasty their skin looks and how they need a tan, because I am always whiter than they are! (once at a pool I took off my cover up and this girl goes, “wow, you are reflective!”)
Agreed life is too short to bother about the shade of your skin. In real life tanned skin or pale skin have little impact on how you look, maybe for a model is does but please don’t include”all women” in this. If you are beautiful it shows no matter what colour the canvas is.
For the first time in my life I disagree! I’m as white as it gets and I’ve always felt embarrassed by my skin. However…
I just got back from Jamaica and I was the whitest person there and I loved it! I stood out, I was distinctive and I realized that at 30 years old I have the skin of a teenager…that is, I don’t look like leather!
Oh, and another thing. When did it become acceptable to critize the colour of someone’s skin? If you criticized an african person for being too dark you’d be run out of town!
THANK YOU! As one of few white students in my University I constantly get laughed at for my paleness, even though I find it beautiful. However, if I was to criticize a classmates skin for being too dark there would be uproar about it. I hate this double standard that exists in terms of skin colour.
I once had a woman comment on my skin loudly, ‘Ugh. Burnt!’ My father is dark-skinned, so I inherited some of it. I was tempted to reply that if she thinks a mixed race person looks burnt, I would love to know what she thinks of black people’s skin…
I love being pale! Skin without sun damage has a finer, smoother texture!
one of my least fav. vs models
she always looks a bit tacky to me
I agree with Mel and Popsy, if she said that pale skin looked better then there would be an uproar from everyone about how that’s discrimination. Whatever! Pale is beautiful and don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise. I think it’s classic and sexy!
I think I can pass for both pale and tan, depending on who I’m standing next to. I find both beautiful, but it depends on the person.
I do think people forget that your genes also give you a certain amount of protection from the sun. e.g. a black person would definitely not need to worry as much about sun damage as a pale, red-headed white person would. That doesn’t mean I recommend lying out in the sun for hours without any protection, but I do think some people needn’t be as worried about it as they are. e.g. The people who are always going on about sun damage, always wearing large hats and walking with parasols in cloudy weather and refusing to leave the house without SPF 90, trousers, long sleeves and big sunglasses. (Yes, people like this do exist.)
I’ve also read that the majority of sun damage is done when you are a child. I don’t know if it is true or not, but, if it is, I’m already doomed because I ran about in the sun all the time before anyone knew any harm could come of it!
Haha, thanks for the tips! I actually like being pale. I find tanned skin to look kind of trashy (not naturally dark skin, but you can tell when girls spend time trying to look tan.)
And as if there is a “best” brand of water. It’s called a tap. Use it.
