Meet the New Victoria’s Secret Angels: Candice, Chanel, Lindsay, Emanuela and Rosie

Since Adriana is still pregnant and Karolina and Heidi just had babies, Victoria’s Secret decided to add a few Angels to their 2009 collection. So let’s meet them!

While Miranda still my favorite, all these girls are stunning! I can’t pick a favorite. Although the last one looks like Adriana so that makes her a little less special.
I’m slightly annoyed. While Victoria’s Secret models are normally 5’11” and so beautiful that the rest of us could never compare, they were the last group of healthy looking models.
At least 2 of these new angels are too skinny to have boobs, let alone model lingerie. Chanel Iman, for example, is an established skinny minny runway model, Victoria’s Secret can use all the photoshop they want but she doesn’t have enough body fat to be curvaceous and sexy the way traditional models have been.
Perhaps Chanel has grown more now, she was very young when she started…Off course I’m just guessing, cause I was surprised to see her in angels..idk
I agree that the choice of Chanel as an Angel is strange because she is too high fashion. But maybe now that she doesn’t have to do high fashion anymore she might gain some weight. She does have a pretty face.
VS is a very big company in the fashion industry just like any other. Of course it seems to be taking baby steps towards the curvier side of models, but in the industry thin is in. They want girls that will look flawless wearing barely-there outfits on a runway with cameras and millions of people watching.
That being said, I think it’s important to note that VS has always contracted the fitter-looking girls – not necessarily the curviest or the thinnest, but the ones that look like they take care of themselves.
I think my pick is definitely Candice, followed shortly by Rosie. Beautiful girls.
I totally agree! IMO, only Emanuela looks close to a real woman. VS were so proud of having models fit and healthy. They are all so skinny!!!

I always envisioned the angels to be of supermodel status and womanly (to an extent)..these girls look like models out of a teenage magazine.

Candice is damn gorgeous IMO. But I agree that they all look like teens. I’d like to see a slightly more mature woman in the catalog.
I’mma have to disagree with you. I don’t know about the others, but I would say Rosie and Candice actually look much older than their age. I mean…not in these pictures because of the extreme photoshop, but normally. They are both in the new VS commercial and they look around the same age as Alessandra and Doutzen, despite being much younger.
VS has the PINK line for the teens, It’s just my opinion that the younger girls model that line.
I know. Younger girls DO model that line. I was just saying that some of these new angels don’t look as young as their age, they do look mature, so they are better for the catalog and not for PINK. Candice is definitely better for the catalog, but I agree with you on Lindsey and Emanuela…I think they would be better doing PINK because they look very young. I think VS wanted a bunch of new young models that they can train to fill the steps when the older models like Heidi, Marisa, Adriana and Alessandra retire.
While they are all pretty girls, I’ve googled them and I don’t think that Chanel and Lindsay are on the level of Victoria’s Secret Angels. I think Candice and Emanuela are good choices though.
Those are the two I like best, too. I think Emanuela looks mature in her facial expressions, especially.
i pretty much agree with what everyone is saying here. these teenage sticks look like they should be modeling for the PINK line, not Angels. however, i really like candice, so cute.

Candice and Emanuela are 1.77 m
Chanel is 1.78 m (though some sources say she is shorter)
Lindsay is 1.80 m
Rosie is 1.76 m

Candice Swanepoel is definitely my favorite. She has the most gorgeous face/body combination I have ever seen! I think she’s one of the few people that looks better when they are unphotoshopped…so that picture doesn’t do her justice.

Emanuela! I have always thought this girl is really gorgeous. Other girls are nice too but nothing that special.
i really do think they all are a little young and not filled with the curves of a vs angel. i do think candice is beautiful. i don’t so much like lindsay nor rosie. they’re not very attractive to me at all.

now they feel like they have to put ultra skinny and very young looking(younger then their true ages-e.g. Chanel iman) models like all runaway models?i’m disappointed..

Candice and Emanuela are the only two who seem to fit the typical VS look. I just googled pictures of Candice and she is amazing. I love the curvy waist/hips and her face is beautiful. I know she will go on to become a favorite.
Lindsay and Rosie are not very attractive, in my opinion. They both look like they have some sort of chromosomal disorder.

IMO, none of them can hold a candle to Doutzen Kroes, whose beauty outshines the lot.
Isn’t it interesting how everyone thinks different things are attractive? (which is a good thing!) I would have said that Doutzen was the least attractive VS model that I’ve seen- the best being Laetitia Casta back in the 90s. Although I think this Candice girl might overtake her for top spot for me. I guess I prefer the softer look to the muscly, harsh look. Again, I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with liking something different. It just means there’s something for everybody!
Haha Grey, I was thinking about that too a while back! It really shows what a wide variety of preferences people can have.
In my opinion, Candice is perfect. PERFECT, which is not a word I use to describe any other celebrity. But others see her as simply attractive, and others see her as nothing special, and still others don’t consider her their type at all.
I guess this is pretty solid evidence that you shouldn’t wish or kill yourself to be a certain way to be attractive because it’s impossible to be attractive to everyone. You shouldn’t try to be a size 0 if you’re a size 6, and you shouldn’t try to be a size 6 if you’re a size 0. You shouldn’t wish to be an hourglass if you’re an apple shape, or vice versa. Because no matter what you are, chances are there are people out there who think you’re attractive. After are, there are 6 billion people on this Earth!

The same goes for what men are attracted to. I’ve seen guys point out girls who they’ve thought were attractive and I’ve thought *what the hell?* The same in reverse. Lots of girls think the guys I think are attractive are butt-ugly.
When it comes to VS, their aim is to make money and if they can appeal to every possible segment of the market who might buy their products, then they have done their job well. That’s what having diversity in their models is all about.
They look great but a. they are all late teens/just over 20. Hardly women. and b. they are way to thin. It could have been a good opportunity for VS to have diverse body shapes – instead they’ve chosen teenagers who have no shape. Why do they want their customers to lust after looking like teenagers if they wear VS clothing????? Plus they all kinda look the same to me!
Have to disagree with you there. Yes, they’re in their early 20s but teens is a bit extreme. Besides, Emanuela is pretty mature-looking – look up her Next appearances.
i don’t see why people think these women look like teenagers. chanel is the only that is a teenager and she start off as a skinny girl but it looks like she put on some weight. as for the rest they look like grown women to me. some are skinny and some have a nice shape. so i disagree with that dep because what i see is beautiful young women. just because they don’t have that curvy shape doesn’t mean they look like teenagers. just my two cents.
I am very skinny myself, so I can look at them and see how their body shapes drastically differ from one another. Their weights are not in the same range, not even close.
And I always thought that the point of VS, and the reason why every man on earth (including my bf) has their favorite angel, is precisely because they show us that a variety of races and nations have equally beautiful women, and how every body type has its optimal healthy shape, and that curvy hips and also the ruler shape can be equally sexy with a little working out, hair and make up.
Personally, I think Emanuela is breathtaking, as well as Candice (impressing hip/waist ratio!). Good luck to all of them!
That Lindsay has the cutest face ever. Her body seems quite tiny, though you cannot truly tell by this sole picture. But her face, unique and lovely. The others are plain. I mean, yes, attractive, but plain, way to stereotipical beauty. I am more into interesting beauty…
I think these girls are gorgeous! I don’t quite understand the relevance of their starsign though…? I would really love to see an East Asian VS model, I can’t think of any off the top of my head.

i like them all except Lindsay, she has an unusual look which i think would be better for catwalk, not commercial, IMO i don’t think she’s unattractive but i dont think of her as pretty or sexy.
Chanel and Candice are my faves for overall look, Emanuela has the best body. I don’t particularly like this photo of Rosie but I can see she is gorgeous.
Well, for me Lindsay is the prettiest and most fit for VS. So, it’s about tastes. And that’s what’s great about VS models: they match all tastes, not just yours or mine or whatever.
Emanuela is my fave. And Chanel is so exotic. Love them both!

They look young, and it’s not just because of their bodies, look at their faces, no lines what so ever, big eyes, and kinda pouty expressions. Does not say “mature lingerie models” to me, it says “Teens playing dress up”. And because their faces look so young, it makes their whole image young, so when I look at their bodies I think I am looking at girls’ bodies and not women’s bodies, even though I know that there are mature women out there with bodies like that, I feel a little odd about looking at what is supposed to be sexy and intimate wear on women that do not look like women. I don’t care who gets offended by that, they do not look like they are old enough to be voting, let alone posing for a company that is vastly marketed to adults(don’t care if they have a teen line, they’ve been adult for a VERY long time, and I really don’t think “I’ll go to VS for my little Betty when she turns 14 for her new bra” when I think of VS, I think “What’s sexy?”). Ah well, don’t shop there anyway, so at least I can feel good about not directly supporting this.
I don’t think you are wrong. I’ve had that feeling for quite some time. A few weeks ago i received the holiday catalog in the mail and I just couldn’t help but notice how many images seemed to be of teenage girls. Always the same poses too, mouths open, arched backs, submissive positions.
Ahh I don’t think any of them hold a candle to Adriana or Alessandra or the other current ones. They’re all pretty girls that are in shape but nothing100% unique that you couldn’t find in Hollywood.
IMO Chanel Iman is not only scary skinny and scary fugly, girl cannot even have a single campaign(be it high fashion or commercial)……….

It’s so funny, a few years ago i went through the model websites, that have models that aren’t really famous, and Candice and Rosie stood out to me. I thought they were so beautiful and could be big. Yeah me (: i have good taste

I have a thing for exotic people, so I’m glad that Emanuela (An “Afro-Brazilian” I believe) and Chanel (an African-American with Korean descent, or “afro-asian”) are doing well.
I do have a personal dislike of Chanel’s size, as she is too skinny, but once she goes to a more healthier weight (in other words, gaining some weight), she’ll do just fine.
I haven’t heard of the other three, but I’m glad that they are doing well also, and hope that they do great in their careers.
