Heidi Klum: “I’ve Never Done Diets”
August 5, 2009 in Heidi Klum, Hollywood Moms, Pregnant Celebrities by Versus

When Heidi Klum famously walked the runway in lingerie for Victoria’s Secret less than two months after giving birth to son Henry, she became the envy of moms everywhere still struggling to lose post-baby pounds.
But the 36-year-old supermodel insists there’s no trick to it.
“I’ve never really had any special girdle machines or anything like that,” she said. “For me, it’s, you know, really healthy foods, exercising, playing with the children, going to the park. Normal things.”
No crazy strict diets, either.
“I’ve never done diets,” she said. “But I also do not sit on the couch with my feet up and eat one potato chip bag after the next and one burger after the other. I think you have to kind of do a little bit of everything.”
It’s easier to drop post-pregnancy weight it you make getting a shape a priority after giving birth, she said.

Heidi, please don’t lie! It’s either a model starves or diets herself to the extreme or work out to get herself back in shape!
Not necessarily.
We hear so much about models and celebs going on extreme diets that we forget that it is possible to stay slim with a combo of good eating and exercise. Some women have the genes to be slim so this with a good lifestyle could easily give you a body like Heidi Klum; it’s not rocket science.
It is possible to be skinny without dieting, well sort of. I think what she means is she doesn’t go on fad diets like atkins ext. But she does lead a healthy lifestyle by eating balanced meals and exercising. If you limit your calorie intake, you can eat whatever you want and stay slim, but you have to stay within your calorie boundries. It’s a lifestyle, not a diet. I mean is’t pointless going on a diet, losing all the weight and then gaining it back, so you have to make it your lifestyle. I have been doing it for two months now and have lost quite a bit of weight. But I intend on making this my lifestyle, and the best part is, I can eat whatever I want, but I have to stay within my calorie boundries.
To be fair, with her being a model, her everyday healthy diet is probably that of what people eat when they go on an actual diet!
I completely agree
Oh yeah, sure, cause us normal women all we do is sit on the couch with our feet up eating potato chips bags and burgers, one after the other. Wow, thx Heidi, so that’s what all of us were doing wrong and you models right. Suuuuure
Did she say that all other women do that? No, she didn’t.
She’s pointing out the obvious fact that staying shape doesn’t come from just sitting on your arse all day. She’s not saying that all other women do that.
To be honest a lot of people fail to take care of themselves, hence why obesity rates are growing rapidly. Many women (not all of them but many) complain that they’re not thin but at the same time they don’t exercise, eat a lot of fatty foods and big portions /quantities of food and don’t see the connection!
The way I see is that if you want to be slim then work for it. There are a few women (my sister for one) that are genetically slim no matter what they eat but the majority of us will have to commit to it. If you don’t want to be slim then fine, but don’t get bitter at those women that are prepared to work hard at it.
I say good for Heidi for admitting that she works at it in a sensible way; just as i’d say good for America Fererra for saying stuff it! i can’t be bothered to be slim i’ll be happy being fully figured!
I’m not American, so i couldn’t care less about your obesity problems. But yes, to me that’s what she stated. She was clearly offensive and that just bothers me. I am skinny and work for it, however i will never say smth like she said. If you have a great body, than be a role model, don’t go around offending people and being cocky about your figure.
Im not American either but obesity is getting around faster than swine flu. It’s not really a problem of mine either as i am nowhere near big; thank you very much.
If you’re offended you’re offended but i think she made a good statement about committing to staying in shape (that’s if what the other people are sayin on here about her following strict diets aren’t true..)
That’s what i hate about most models….. always saying i don’t go to the gym, i hate working out, i eat only healthy organic foods blah blah
Or with some models always saying i eat very healthy foods or i exercise a lot, but you can’t see any proof in their bodies that their doing either of those two.
Hahahaha why do most of these VS models lie all the time?
p.s. i don’t think Doutzen lied when she said something about her diet and exercise. probably the only VS model who hardly lies lol
sorry but I didn’t find a connection what you wrote to what heidi revealed.
which part of them do you think would be a “lie”?
I think what she meant is that she has a pretty healthy lifestyle. She tries to eat healthy food and exercise so she can keep into shape, but not going too crazy with it ,so she affords a little unhealthy food from time to time .
And if you watch carefully what you eat during the pregnancy you will gain more like the weight and fat that`s needed for the baby. This way it`s a little bit easier ( not easy, just a little bit easier ) to lose weight after the baby ,because once he`s “out” the body is starting to return to its natural/normal shape . Especially if you have a healthy lifestyle .
I don’t think she’s lying here. Heidi never had that emaciated look going on, as far as I know, and by doing what she claims she does, having such a slim figure is definitely possible (if you have the genes for it of course, I know other people might be a lot heavier even if they do eat healthy and exercise). Though I agree with some here who said that other people would probably think of her habits as dieting, I actually think if her calorie/fat/carb intake is high enough then it’s not a diet, just a healthy active lifestyle.
She didn’t claim other women sit on the couch all day and munch, she just said she doesn’t, which makes her statement not half as potentially annoying as those of celebs who claim they just looove pizza, fries and pasta.
Agreed. What she is saying totally makes sense to me. It really comes down to a combination of genetics and lifestyle. There are lots of pictures of her working out, so I believe her. And I don’t think her comments were aimed at women who sit on the couch and eat all day. She was talking about herself and what works for her.
… and I always thought the baby should be priority after giving birth… my mistake
ditto!
She said A priority, not THE priority. And what’s wrong with making getting in shape a priority after birth? From my experience, it is definitely easier and better if you get yourself going as soon as possible, because if you wait too long, it doesn’t happen
i totally agree w Heidi…it’s not a diet if it has become your lifestyle…i’ve always been healthy my whole life so when i had my baby…losing the weight was not that hard bc eating healthy, working out, and taking care of myself, i’ve done that before i had the baby.
Why is this so hard to hear?! Maybe becuse it’s true. The only way to truly lose weight and keep it off, without losing your mind because of cravings is to balance it all out. I think that people automatically assume she is lying because they don’t want to hear the truth. Evryone want’s a quick fix for weight loss, but sorry, it doesn’t exist! You have to eat a balanced diet, where you limit your calorie intake and you have to excercise. If you do this as a lifestyle, you will be slim. And then you can have your cake and eat it too!
true that, true that!
Amen to that!
She said a lot of times in the past that she follows the David Kirsch diet -no carbs, no fat, no fruit, basically only lean protein and greens. Why is she changing it now? To make every normal woman feel bad? I know it from myself, I have been skinny all my life but after the age of 20 it doesnt come naturally, you have to diet and exercise.
liar!
it is well known that she follows pretty much the david kirsch plan…and this is a fad diet and I would starve!
What A LOAD OF BS.
First of all, she has worked out with Gunnar Peterson right??
As a top trainer there is NO WAY he did not put her on some sort of diet plan whether it be low-carb,low-fat,GI whatever.
I doubt he said “You know, Heidi since you never go on diets, go ahead eat pizza and fries as much as you want!” Like wtf heidi stop lying and making
naive women feel sh1t about themselves.
I’m not stupid and have read enough comments on sites like this to know that most of what celebrities say are lies but people who have no clue about celebs etc. When they hear this they will believe it.
It really enrages me haha!
The reason why i said that on my comment, and thanks for elaborating it! I definitely don’t hate Heidi or any model in particular, i just don’t like their lying habits when it comes to diet and exercise!
But hey, if all people are to believe what all these models have to say – fools rush in
its all about the genes … i have never in my life been at fitness or pilates or anything like this …and im 23 years old. i even pass all my sport classes in high school ,eat many sweets and fast food and i’ve never been fat in my life. for how long this will still work i dont know but i take advantage now that i can… im 173 cm height and 50 kilograms weight (european measures, in US i think 173 cm high are 5,73 ft and 50 kg are 110 lbs) so i belive her when she says that she got that figure by eating healthy and working out!
hum, I’ve got to say this, I do not liker her body, I mean, I dont think she is fat (Im talking of the non pregnancy periods) but there is something that looks kind of weird, she is fit, healthy and bla bla, but she just looks……………………………………..> weird LOL…its liker if her upper body was lean, her hip bones quite big, and then her legs skinny again…
I get what she says and I think it’s mean how people are jumping on her. One, yes, genes are a big factor and obviously they’re in her favor. But I get alot of crap for being really skinny (5’6″ 102lbs) and I don’t starve myself but I don’t diet either! It’s called moderation and it’s something Americans have forgotten. If I know I’m going out for fast food later I’ll only have a peice or fruit or some yogurt to hold me over. Or if I eat alot of junk food one day the next day I eat healther. Eating healthy is NOT a diet! It’s how people should eat! I mean just beacuase you can eat McDonalds and cake everyday doesn’t mean you should and just becuase you don’t doesn’t mean you’re “dieting”.
