And another detail: One of the contestants at Miss Australia was labeled as “malnourished” and “too bony” by specialists – her name is Stephanie Naumoska (19, pictured below), who weighs 108 lbs at 5’11” (49 kg, 1.80 m). The current Miss Australia, Rachael Finch, defended Stephanie, saying that she is “naturally thin”.

In most of the pics she looks good i think, very thin but good. But that 2nd pic with her in the bikini face on I was shocked! Her waist is tiny! I think she would look better if she wasn’t so tall and giraffe like.

Sorry but no-one is THAT ‘naturally thin’. Either she has starved herself as she has severe muscle wasting and bones sticking out everywhere or has some serious medical condition that needs attention. She looks terrible, I can’t believe she even got through. I’m totally appaulled to be honest.
The current Miss Australia has really let herself down by defending her. For someone who looks so fit and healthy, if she thinks that contestant is just ‘naturally thin’ then something is not right with her perception.

I agree with you Leanna. Everyone who thinks one gets like that “naturally” is clearly in denial. Miss Australia looks very thin (a bit too much for my taste) but at least she seems healthy and toned. The other one Stephanie, looks disgusting, bones protuding from everywhere, she looks very sick. I am amazed that the modeling world still allows that malnourish look, disgusting.
Yikes! Stephanie is wayy too thin. Her BMI is only 15.1! She definitely looks like she has anorexia. I understand why they kicked her out of the competition– she needs hospitalization! I can’t believe that they even considered her though. They should have seen right away that she is sick.
The Miss Australia girl looks great, but a little bit too much on the thin side (her arms look too thin to me). I think she would look better if she gained 5 lbs. I love her toned abs though! I want abs like that. lol
this was just on the news. she really is scarily thin. i guess you never realise how bad it looks till you see someone as thin as this without their clothes on.

there is a diffrence between skinny and malnourished and near death. If you think someone who is knocking on death’s door is perfect you may want to seek help
Miss Australia looks OK, I guess, maybe a little too low on body fat, especially in her tummy area(looks plastic-y to me), but she is pretty. That other girl, OMG, she needs help

Miss Australia looks great. I love everything about her body and I think she looks healthy and slim. Stephanie on the other hand looks near-death. I can’t believe how skinny her arms are and her hip bones are clearly protruding out. If you watch any documentaries on anorexia this is what it looks like. I hope she gets help though.

As for miss australia….just gorgeous. I’m sticking by my ‘as long as they are crazy fit its ok to be thin* theory. She works hard for that bosy. And by works I mean works OUT. You can totally tell. And her face is very attractive
you know how they say that you can be naturally thin and people who strive to be thin well like should some people if this said person is “naturally thin” *cough stephanie cough* shouldn’t they strive to gain weight? Like wouldn’t they want to?
I have a friend that is naturally thin and when I first met her I thought omg maybe she is anorexic cause her arms are like so toothpickin and her legs would be the size of my arms if they got any skinner but the point is she actually is naturally thin but she eats very healthy too not to be weight conscious but i can really tell she loves to eat healthy but she also mentioned that her doctor told her that it would be fine to gain weight cause she is underweight so you never know but this stephanie idk if she is naturally that thin

I am ‘naturally thin’ 5’9″ & 104lbs. I don’t like looking like a stick, but my rib bones don’t stick out & glad. The only thing I can think of is that if she eats 6-8 small meals a day….like snack portions/or lil microwave meals & then has a busy life…she just needs to MAKE herself eat bigger portions to not burn it off.
For thin people by nature (as I say, cursed) it is SO easy to loose but hard to gain. I hate how people put a label on you….stress, depression, etc. can also make thin people more skeleton like….people should back off & just hope she eats bigger portions & better foods. Do I think she looks attractive in those pics…no. A picture of someone like that lying on their back w/ ribs sticking out more (which I know how can look) is really gross and an eye opener that it’s not healthy. The heart works hard to keep the body going.
I really like the body of Miss Australia…I wish I could have muscle tone on my abs.
these women are meant to be role models, so there should definitely be a stricter watch on overly thin women.
Oh my gosh, she’s super skinny but it’s hard to tell if she is just naturally a rail (I mean the chick is 19) or if she’s got some sort of problem. I don’t know if it’s an ethical dilemma or not and would she really fess up if she did have a disorder?? Doubt it!

RACHEL FINCH is hellla beautiful. omg. i know in another post people were saying the pagent winners are too “generic”. well here u go. a non blonde, non too tanned gal. yeah shes slim but i think she looks great thin, and its pretty natural. shes absolutely gorgeous. i am seriously blown away by her beauty!! as for the really thin gal…. i have no idea what to say about her

i’m all for defending skinny women but damn she’s too thin. one minute in some of her pictures she looks fine but then when she’s in front of the picture she’s way too skinny. pretty girl but wow.

That’s so sad. There is no way that girl is “naturally” thin.
What I find interesting about the above is that everyone seems to agree Stephanie is unhealthily thin; but most don’t point out that Miss Australia Rachel is quite thin as well. Granted, she does look healthy and athletic, and I would LOVE to look like her… but she’s not “healthy” in a way that suggests a natural balance of diet and exercise.
I think she’s great as far as a beauty pagaent winner – but is her figure in any way representative of womankind? She would have to gain ten pounds even to play “the popular girl” in a teen movie.

Rachael Finch is honestly the most down to earth, naturally stunning person i have ever met!
I’m from Townsville and was blown away when I got caught on a plane trip to sydney from the ville with her.
She was bubbly, ambitious, creative and did i mention stunning!!!
Rachael Finch is what Australia is; born and bred, loves the country and camping, loves the beaches and water, and will make THE BEST (no exception) ambassador for Australia.

she was on A Current Affair in australia and she denied that she weighs 49 kgs, she said she doesnt weigh herself(i mean i doubt that she hasnt at least weighed herdelf out of curiosity now) but she reckons shed be around 53 kgs. i still think she looks 49, and i really dont care whether her body is naturally this skinny or not( for her sake i hope its naturally this skinny), she shouldnt have been chosen and shown on t;, so many young people watch this stuff and she certainly isnt a good role model for them. miss australia looks awesome, skinny but toned and not showing too many bones, perfect

I am naturally thin but nobody is THAT naturally skinny she would look a hundered times better if she put a bit of weight on. The first girl is thin but not too thin she is pretty.
She’s so so beautiful and she is very thin, but not too thin I do believe it’s natural for he andt that as she says she does not have and ED and her weight is about 114 – 120. One of my best friends is 5′ 11″ like Stephanie’ and weighs 115, looks very much like Stephanie and is totally healthy. There’s no reason to keep her or anyone from competing just because she’s skinny.
I think both Stephanie and Rachel look great! They have great bodies, and their heads are identical.

About Stephanie, I do think it is possible for someone to be this thin naturally, but I don’t think it should be posed as Miss Universe material. If girls with a BMI of 21 won’t usually be up for Miss Universe, why would someone so much thinner than the rest of the contestants be? I think it was odd that they took her in. Her body looks gangly and not very proportionate. It’s not beautiful, not Miss Universe material (like I’m not, and 99.9% of the world’s population aren’t).
