Drew Barrymore Brings the Quote of the Day
March 15, 2010 in Celebrity Quotes, Drew Barrymore by Versus
On plastic surgery:
“F**k surgery! I’m so curious as to what’s going to happen naturally that I can’t imagine wanting to alter things just yet.
“And to all those women putting botulism in their faces – we don’t know what the long-term effects are, so stop! I’d rather look like a basset hound than do that to my face!’
… says Drew.
So who’s with her?

couldn’t agree with her more
I absolutely adore her!
she is always right whatever she says!
She really seems to have her head in the right place; this woman went through a whole lot of sh**t starting from very young ages and she pulled herself together and now she is just glowing. I love her for what and how she portrays herself.
I like her too – she has to have substance and intelligence to be where she is ….and to have survived and thrived, growing up in Hollywood. I think she’s fruity too, but she seems to have a great sense of humor about life and herself – and I like that.
On a superficial note – she has the most beautiful skin~ Always loved her skin.
Totally agree with Uma and Sara. She definitely has her head on her shoulders and hasn’t let Hollywood get to her! She seems intelligent – she’s not obsessed with beauty and plastic surgery.
Well Drew, it’s okay for you because you look about 15 years younger than your real age! lol
haha – that’s true to kate…:) she what she thinks of PS in 10 years…;) never say never!
Exactly, they all succumb eventually!
I don’t understand the “holier than thou” attitude a lot of people have when it comes to plastic surgery. Ok, it’s not for you and you wouldn’t do it. Why put others down who would do it, as if they are somehow stupid or at least, less intelligent than you?
No, maybe they are just more desperate than you. Maybe they have emotional problems. Maybe looking the way they do lowers their quality of life.
What I’d love to see is someone who doesn’t care for plastic surgery actually not care…meaning not talk about it, not act as if they are superior for not having plastic surgery.
Very good point – I completely agree.
I completely agree with you. It’s a personal choice and as long as it isn’t hurting anyone ELSE they shouldn’t be berated for it. I respect Drew for having her opinion but she should respect others for having theirs.
I think because of her slightly non conventional stance on things, she is asked these sorts of questions. I doubt she goes about pointing the finger at people who have plastic surgery. If this is her opinion then so be it.
completely agree..these questions are being asked of her…i highly doubt she tries to bring the topic up herself
Of course she gets asked these questions, but she chooses how to answer them.
She could have said, “Oh I don’t care.” Or, “Plastic surgery is not for me, but I can understand how others might consider it.” etc etc.
But like you said, it’s her opinion. I just happen to not like her opinion, and find it condescending.
She doesn’t have to acknowledge the opinions of others. Most strong willed people don’t do that nor do they feel obligated to “respect” how other people view something. She doesn’t have to understand.
She didn’t say “Ur all vain hoebags for getting dem Botox shots”. She just bluntly stated an opinion. I don’t see that as holier than though.
Where did she put others down? She just told her opinion for herself. It’s a strong opinion, sure. Doesn’t mean, she looks down on other people for doing it.
I agree. I only saw that she said she definitely won’t get surgery and gave a warning to others because she believes we do not know the long-term effects. Then she said she would rather look ugly than take the risk of putting such a substance into her face. What’s condescending about that? She didn’t say anything about these women being ‘pathetic’, ‘sad’ or ‘insecure’ as a pro-natural person with a holier than thou attitude typically would.
How is she holier than thou? She basically said this stuff can be dangerous (which is true). She didn’t call anyone out like Montag, she didn’t say they were pathetic or insecure. She just said she would rather be ugly and pointed out the pontential risk.
Amen Drew! Amen!
Drew seems to be ageless anyway. Looks the same as she did 10 years ago
I agree with Drew, to a point. The idea of changing my face really freaks me out. And getting botox young is not a preventative, it might actually make things worse later. Would I get a boob job if the girls sag after a couple of kids? … yeah maybe, we’ll see. But I’m not going to do anything extreme and dumb so young like Heidi.
I agree about botox. I mean, botulism virus? Put it in my body deliberately? Uhoh, I don’t freaking think so,
Fantastic attitude! I like her.
Haha…basset hound. I love her.
I won’t, either, but that’s because I don’t want anyone to have access to me whilst naked and passed out unless absolutely necessary. Particularly not someone who wields a scalpel and a dust-buster for a living.
Drew looks great cause she keeps it real!
Weird picture of her tho! LOL…..
I love Drew. she is gorgeous inside and out! Man, if i had a face like that (particularly that cutie nose) then i wouldnt want surgery either! But its hard for people to feel completely happy with themselves sometimes. I WISH that all women felt like her and loved themselves that much. BUT its unfair to make them fee; bad for wanting surgery (not saying she is saying that she is better or putting women down). Was just saying another point
agreed!! She’s so charming, attractive and adorable – so are her thoughts. Love you Drew !!!
excuse me? She has had a breast reduction. I’ve had one too, probably for the same reason she has hers (it killed my back), but still, I had plastic surgery so I wouldn’t put others down for wanting to do the same thing!
I don’t know how reducing your breasts is the same as filling your face with botox. She is judging others for filling themselves with that sh*t. Read next time.
Uh, did read it, first line: “F#*k surgery”, also, being put under and getting part of your brests sliced off, risking infection or even death is really no less risky than botox in my opinion.
