PLUS Model Magazine: ‘Crystal Renn Betrayed Us, Insulted Our Intelligence’
February 15, 2012 in Beauty & Body Image, Crystal Renn by Versus

Former plus-size model Crystal Renn showed up at a sports Illustrated event last night and looked slim(mer) in a black ensemble on the red carpet. It seems that her weight loss has been bothering various media outlets that supported Crystal while she was trying to make it as a plus-size model – from Radar:
“Everyone rallied around her and now she’s turned against us,” PLUS Model Magazine Editor-in-Chief Madeline Jones told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview. “We have been betrayed by her.”
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, the 5’9” beauty was a shadow of her former self when she walked the red carpet in a skintight scarlet Zac Posen gown at the New York premiere of Madonna’s W.E., prompting fears she has fallen back into bad habits.
“After Emme, Crystal was the biggest plus size supermodel in our era and a lot of readers aspired to be like her,” explained Jones.
She went on to enjoy several years as a plus-sized model before revealing in November 2010 that she had dropped several dress sizes due to taking up hiking and yoga. Jones for one doesn’t believe her explanation. “You don’t lose that much weight doing yoga and hiking! You have to put a lot of effort to go from a 14 to a size 6,” she told RadarOnline.com. “We’re not that stupid, we know how hard it is to lose weight and she insulted our intelligence.
“The thinner she got the more she was being pitched to mainstream brands. Suddenly the same woman who wrote Hungry was slimming and slimming.
“Once she got down to a size 10 she lost the support of a lot of people. We’re disappointed because she was our star fighting for equality and fashion for us, and now she’s going to their side.
“It is sad that she’s turned her back on us,” lamented Jones. Renn recently blasted back to critics on her Ford Models blog: “When this whole weight loss thing happened, I think that a lot of people wanted to point their finger at somebody. I think that they wanted to find a conspiracy where there absolutely was none,” she wrote. While Jones understands that it is Renn’s freedom of choice to lose weight, she says she should have been honest about her motivations.
“She should have said she wasn’t comfortable in her skin anymore and wanted to make more money. Instead she has deceived us and we feel insulted! It would be great for her to come out with a better explanation, though I doubt we will get one.”
Ouch! What do you guys think?

um lol
amen..she is anorexic AGAIN!!wat happened to..i love my curves…wow wat a liar!!and thats whyevery fat girl says “i love myt curves”soo she can stay fat and eat!!!and this girl is total proof!!
wow… you sound kinda… weird.
amen
Honestly, they need to get over it. She’s human and the human mind doesn’t always stay the same. Maybe she did like who she was for a while when she was plus size, but later on felt a different way about her body. I don’t judge her for it. I think she looks better this way anyways..
I also follow Crystal Renn on the fashion spot. It’s not like she lost the weight rapidly, she actually lost that weight in a good amount of time. I noticed every fashion editorial she was in that she would look smaller..a month later, she’s a little smaller..the next month, a bit more smaller. It was a gradual thing, so I do believe it was from yoga and hiking, BUT with a healthy diet as well.
SERIOUSLY! I was rolling my eyes the whole time. As long as she feels healthy SO WHAT? That Jones lady sounds so bitter. Plus size modeling shouldn’t be a “them vs us” mentality anyways.
Exactly! Riduculous “going to their side” comments.
Exactly!
” As long as she feels healthy SO WHAT?”
Man, if only people said that about plus size models. The only thing I can say is lol.
But can you at all imagine it from their side. They are fighting for equal recogniton, that all women are beautiful and deserve to be able to wear fashion whether a 6 or 16. They thought they had a good spokesperson in Crystal, she had been promoting plus size modelling/fashion, and then she looses weight and turns her back on the people she was once supporting.
Agree. She has control over her body, and she shouldn’t have to explain her own personal choices to anyone. She shouldn’t be obligated to stay at a certain weight just because she’s expected to do so, it’s her body first. And seriously, do they think they would really have accepted an excuse like “I no longer feel comfortable in my skin, I need to make more money.” If anything, there would be a much bigger uproar if she explained for the weight loss like that!
Yeah, she’s at freedom to do whatever she wants with her body. But like PLUS magazine stated, she WAS a role model for plus-size models/women. Knowing that she was once a role model, it would have been nice for her to make an honest statement about her drastic weightloss. I think people are more upset that she wasn’t honest
I totally agree that it’s her body and she has the right to do as she pleases with it. I actually don’t even think she owes anyone an explanation for the choices she makes. I think what bugs people a lot about what’s going on is that it appears that she really exploited it a lot when she was heavier, and seemed to profit from being very vocal about size and her struggles. Also, I think she was very critical back then of straight-size modeling’s beauty standards, so it seems hypocritical for her to expect the judgement train she was at the forefront of to suddenly come to a halt now that it’s not profitable for her anymore. It’s easy to interpret her choices as being really opportunistic, which pisses people off because this is an important and very personal issue for a lot of people.
her face has lost its uniqueness to ugliness now.
Yeah, kind of Quasimodo. The fake bake doesn’t do her any favors.
So she was supposed to stay fat to support the plus size industry? That is ridiculous. And of course she couldn’t say she wanted to lose weight and make more money…who would buy her book if she said that?
She probably wasn’t healthy before when she was overweight. If it was because she wasn’t eating correctly and wasn’t working out, that would certainly explain her drastic weight loss.
Her wanting to stay healthy, while causing her to lose her plus size modeling jobs, certainly isn’t turning her back on the plus size community. It shows that people plus size can become of a health size and weight, and can have a body of a model.
This article sounds very selfish on behalf of the plus size modeling community and is certainly a bad inspiration or example for over weight women.
This, you expressed very well what I was thinking
Let the poor girl decide for her own sake what’s best for her. Eating junk and crap to stay as big as she was is no more healthier. I think she looks lovely.
It’s unbelievable how they call those fatties ‘plus-size models’ and beautiful healthy women (I’m sorry, don’t want to be rude, but COME ON, it is NOT healthy to be THAT big imo!!)
I agree.
Although i think it’s her business and i just hope that she’s healthy, she wasn’t “Fat”. she was a size 12 for goodness sakes and 5’9. Her BMI was 24.8 (according to her comp cards in her book Hungry). that’s actually within the healthy range. I’m not opposed to her being thinner, but she wasn’t fat. she was a healthy weight.
This is tricky. On the one hand she was so in our faces about being proud of her curves and she got tremendous support from that community, which translated into a lot of work and money for her. On the other hand, it’s her body, her life…she can do whatever the hell she wants. If she wants to get skinny again, that’s her prerogative. She’s just going to piss off a lot of people in the process lol
Her face looks hollow. I’m going to bet she’s the type of girl that’s naturally a US size 10 (still not plus-size IMO), so she’s probably resorting to some old habits. A lot of anorexics that begin to lose weight again have returned to some of their old ways. Who knows though, I’m not her personal physician.
You’re not!? Oh.
WOW — I can’t believe that the editor went on the public record saying something so ridiculous. Crystal Renn can do whatever the h-ll she pleases with her body — she doesn’t have an obligation to overweight women to remain “one of them.” The plus-size industry doesn’t own her.
As for her weight loss, and the fact that the editor thinks there’s no way someone could lose that much weight just by changing their lifestyle…well, the editor is A) wrong and B) probably in denial about her own weight problem and the fact that it IS possible to lose weight in a healthy way.
I read Crystal’s book, and I am not surprised that she has lost the weight. She talks about learning to eat for the right reasons in her book — learning to eat when she’s hungry, but to refrain from eating when she’s not hungry. Learning to eat food that she actually craves, and food that actually tastes good, instead of shoveling in random crap during a binge. I think that anybody can be thin if they eat this way. I myself went from a size 14 to a size 6 when I learned how to eat the right way, and it only took me one year, and I didn’t exercise at all. (I also didn’t restrict my diet in any way — I ate whatever I felt like eating, even if that was brownies.) So it’s definitely possible.
Like.
This quote really pissed me off. Is this plus-size modelling or the bloody mafia we’re talking about here?! Crystal Renn doesn’t owe them a damn thing, she’s free to do what she likes with her body. Madeline Jones sounds like a completely insufferable woman from this quote. I was actually a little embarrassed for her since she comes across as completely bitter and juvenille: “Instead she has deceived us and we feel insulted!” Who is ‘us’ and ‘we’? I doubt she is speaking for all plus-szied women is she?
Agree so much.
Agree MissCheeks.
I third this opinion. It’s her body and if she wants to get rid of some extra weight, good for her.
Is that US size 6 so Uk size 10 right?
Yes, well on paper anyway.
Except I’m a UK size 8 and a US size 2, so i don’t think that’s really right.
I know I went on a website that told you what your size was over a range of shops it also told you your size in UK and US I was suprised to find out on bottom I am a 2 and on top a 4-6 in the UK I couldnt even get into a size 6.
lol even plus sized models don’t want to be plus size models. But really, this magazine needs to shut up, no one is obligated to remain big just so this publication can remain happy. How dare she lose weight and not remain fat just so other fatties out there won’t feel bad about their out of shape bodies.
There’s definitely a grain of truth to this comment. It’s odd she would become so furious over a person losing weight.
according to her comp cards in Hungry she was 168 pounds and 5’9 as a plus size model. that means that her BMI was 24.8. THat is actually WITHIN THE HEALTHY range!!! She was not fat.
now i’m not saying this to comment on whether or not she should have lost weight. i’m totally fine with it if she’s healthy.
I’m just saying that she was only fat by modelling standards.
What an idiotic editor. Come on. I know I am gonna get blasted for saying this but ANYONE given the opportunity to have a slimmer body will take that over a plus size body, I dont care how happy she was at a size 16, and I am not saying she wasnt happy either! Take any happy size 16 woman and tell her you can transform her this moment into a size 6 and she will do it. Because anyone who has been heavier knows that most importantly you FEEL better being in a slimmer body, you can run, jump, climb, you feel light as a feather, like a kid again.
I think its really rude to criticize this modal. If she was happy before at a size 16 great, and now if she is slimmer and can enjoy life more and earn more money in her profession great! why criticize her? Why are woman so fast to jump on other woman? Jealous much.
Agree %100.
Fully agree with this sentiment. Besides, throughout my life I’ve worn sizes rangin from 2 all the way up to a hefty size 16 a few months after I quit smoking. I would be LYING if I said I was happier wearing a 16 than I was wearing an 8. She doesn’t owe anybody an explanation in regards to her weight loss.
That’s a huge overreaction, in my opinion. I don’t particularly like Crystal Renn regardless, but she’s certainly free to do whatever she wants with her body. I don’t know why this magazine thinks she owes them anything.
Actually, people do lose a lot of weight from legit hiking. I know from personal experience and through friends that have gotten into hiking on a daily basis.
Are they stupid? It’s not like she lost all the weight in a week’s time, it was gradual. Plus, it’s awful how they refer to plus size and regular modeling as “them vs us’
This. Is Everyone competing now as to who the better models are? Can’t everyone love their own figures without saying the figures of others are WRONG and UNATTRACTIVE?
PS magazine over reacted for my taste but that just showes how passionate they are for their job. and chrystal was hungry – for money and fame. she was never comfortable with her body! just remember that pics with alexandra and brooklyn it was obvious she didnt feel comfortable around them.she lied.she could never be a supermodel in regular way she never had that body her legs are not slim like in other models she has no boobs and she is trying to hard that looks un natural .she has no integrity and she is a bad role model to young girls.
“While Jones understands that it is Renn’s freedom of choice to lose weight, she says she should have been honest about her motivations.”
^THIS!
I agree. She didn’t have to explicitly state that she wanted to make more money by being thin because it’s obvious that’s what she wanted; it’s what every model and celeb wants lol. But she could have been more truthful about her desire to be thinner, unless of corse she really was content when she was larger (highly doubt it though).
How could you possibly know that was her motive? She was a recovering anorexic…it’s typical for them to gain a lot of weight in recovery, then to lose it gradually, especially as she slowly began to reintroduce moderate exercise. It’s very likely that a US size 6 is her natural, healthy weight when she eats well & gets a good amount of exercise. If anything, it might be harder for her to get work now; she is neither plus sized nor “regular” sized in the industry, but in that in between size that you see few models at.
Granted she’s gotten back to her pre plus size figure and I think she looks a little too thin now (based on what she said about how she used to be so thin by starving herself), HOWEVER, that editor’s reaction is way overboard.
And ITA about larger ladies wanting to be slimmer. If I could wave a magic wand and be a size 2 hell yes I would prefer that to the size that I am now ( I eat 1500cals a day and walk for an hour, but am unable to work out ‘properly’ due to my asthma having become awful.)
I think she is beautiful thinner and bigger. I don’t see big differences in her face like some people said.
Who cares, she looks better now.
Well, honestly I think she looks better now so I don’t know what to say.
She’s still a unique beauty. I like her.
this site will never cease to amaze me. The next time anyone talks about a celebrity being a hypocrite and changing their minds, I will redirect them to this post.
EVERYONE on EVERY cyrstal renn post never shuts up about how she has betrayed all the girls who believed in her, who thought of her as a role model, about how hypocritical she is and how she was just a greedy little opportunist- unitl someone else said the same thing, and suddenly we’re all saying its natural, healthy and her absolute perogative?
It is every individuals right to gain or lose weight, although again I would point out the number of posters who demand constantly that so and so SHOULD lose ten pounds. But if an individual choses to make their career out of embracing a larger phsyique and calling out the unhealthy straight sized industry she was formerly a part of, if she then turns around and does a complete about face, she can’t expect, nor can anyone else, that there won’t be some sort of fall out. Its an extreme weight loss too, which personally to me speaks of someone who is still struggling with personal issues. In fact reading between the lines (as someone with too many issues of their own) it never sounded like she was ever being either honest or healthy with herself.
Remind yourselves of how she used to look and what she used to (very publically) stand for, “each pound was a discovery. i liked it. i felt myself becoming more who I am….I felt myself becoming the weight I naturally am. I was becoming a woman.”
I know how everybody loves those ‘I am woman’ comments
http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2009/sep/27/fashion-health-and-wellbeing
Lol, Amen to the first part!
Everyone on every Crystal Renn post was certainly not saying she betrayed all girls who believed in her. I sure didn’t say any nonsense like that. I’ve never judged Crystal. She’s one of my favorite models and has a unique look about her. Lets not speak for everyone.
AGree with everything.
She has never sounded like she was complete comfortablee at any weight. Which is why i don’t judge her or gaining/losing cos she seems like she’s struggling.
And you’re right. These things have been said on every Crystal post.
‘EVERYONE on EVERY cyrstal renn post never shuts up about how she has betrayed all the girls who believed in her, who thought of her as a role model, about how hypocritical she is and how she was just a greedy little opportunist- unitl someone else said the same thing, and suddenly we’re all saying its natural, healthy and her absolute prerogative?’
That was initially my first thought, but it might be that people only comment on stories in which they feel the need to add their two cents/say something to the contrary. Maybe the people who do talk about Crystal Renn being a hypocrite just read the title of the post, thought ‘yep!’ and moved on without commenting, because they didn’t have anything else to really add to the discussion.
I agree!
I was sure when I went to look at the comments I was gonna read all the things like “she’s a big fat liar”, as usual on Crystal Renn -posts but suddenly everybody is super positive??! Very strange.. It’s exactly like you said, we can say the ugliest things but when an editor sends it into the world we’re suddenly gonna protect the person we’ve been saying all these trashy things about? Hypocrites..
Wether she looks better or not at this weight, Crystal Renn is a hypocrite too because she took all the money she could get for being fat and ex-anorexic (her book) and when the hype was over she just turned 90 degrees around and is saying the total opposite so she can get some more money over at the skinny side.
Nice played of her.
I really really dislike this woman . Can’t stand her face.. who knows why it bothers me so much . about the article , all I can say is meh ..
I think its because, facially, she really resembles LeAnne Rimes. They can now skeletor twin sistas lol
This is ridiculous.
“Our side” “Their side” “Betrayed us”
This is so dramatic. Every woman is entitled to the body she wants to have. As long as she is happy, she should be supported.
I think they are right to say what they are saying- she was a plus size icon and her popularity wasn’t just to do with her looks, but her book and her outlook on body image.
People need to get educated on eating disorders, both the editor of the magazine and some of the commentators here. It’s not as though you beat an eating disorder once and you’re done. And you sure as hell cannot control an eating disorder or any mental illness.
But you can be honest about it instead of lying your way true your bigger and thinner periods. Abusing them to make money at both sides by lying about your feelings on your current weight.
This girl went public about her eating disorder and about her weight (struggle to stay thin). She even wrote a book about it! Her whole carreer was based on her weight.
How can you not understand people are angry about all that weight loss?
I don’t care if she’s healthy or not, she made a statement first, it’s totally normal she get backlash for it now since it’s not in cohesion with what she first stated.
This is not about Crystal anymore, it’s deeper. It’s about what she represented (based on what she showed us). It’s about that change of ideology. Crystal was put in another category, but she was the advocate of it.
Only if you’re of a low developmental level and you expect people to stay the exact same way forever. Those of us who are older and more intelligent realize that people’s bodies, minds and spirits can (and should) change over the years.
Holding someone to such a superficial standard as weighing the exact number they did years ago suggests that the speaker is not very intelligent and is also quite insecure.
“People don’t change” – Gregory House. Still, i don’t care for her body, just like transparent sincerity.
“Holding someone to such a superficial standard as weighing the exact number they did years ago suggests that the speaker is not very intelligent and is also quite insecure.”
Where the hell did she say that Crystal should stay at the exact same weight?? She says clearly it has nothing to do with her weight but with the change of ideology.
The fact that you clearly can’t read makes me wonder who ‘s the underdeveloped one here..
If this magazine is supposed to be sooo enlightened concerning women’s bodies & being a healthy size, then they should know that recovering anorexics often gain excess weight & then gradually shed much of it as their body settles back to their natural weight. Instead, they come off as ignorant & lacking in compassion & understanding for anorexics & women’s body issues.
This along with that recent photo spread they did that demeaned thin women makes me view them as damaging propaganda as those pro-ana sites. They promote bad, unhealthy body images & have a militant, degrading view of anyone who is not their fat ideal.
What a bizarre outfit to wear to a Sports Illustrated event. Every inch of her body is covered. She always comes across as pretentious and I find it/her incredibly annoying.
With that said, I agree with the posters who have stated that she is probably still dealing with personal struggles in the form of an eating disorder. Whether that’s anorexia or EDNOS, I don’t know. Yes she has every right to do what she wants with her own body, even if that means damaging it.
Agreed
Agreed and LOL, you’re the first one who commented her outfit, Crystal=weight comments xD
This girl is U.G.L.Y!
I am sure if she packed on the weight again, the fat brigade would forgive her.
My opinion totally changed when I watched the video of the shoot. In now was is she unhealthy. she looked great in the video. You could see that she had a small stomach pudge( which is 100% normal before they airbrush models) and the side creases that are also always airbrushed out. I like that SI did not choose all models that are sticks and bones. Watching her video and Kate’s video made me feel like my body could be accepted. I went from a size 12 to a size 4 over a period of time by hiking, running, and yoga. In addition to NOT eating diet food and eating natural real food. I do not believe in diets. . Just because she lost weight doesn’t mean she is unhealthy again or anorexic. There is nothing wrong with just trying to be healthy. It appears that being that big was not natural for her body either. looks like she finally made peace with her body and settled at a healthy weight. Granted…in this picture above she looks like she may be leaning back towards anorexic. In her video she looks 10 pounds heavier. Go watch it on the website…I really liked her pictures.
sorry guys I meant in no way is she unhealthy. I hope i got the point i wanted across. I was not sure how to word it.
Who cares if she’s skinny, she has one ugly mug.
it bemuses me as to how she is she a popular model, honestly. i find her so… basic.
YES! How DARE a young, beautiful woman with her entire life in head of her make the smart decision of getting healthy and losing weight!
How dare she :[
Exactly…geez that editor sounds nuts.
She’s not plus-size anymore. Get over it.
Madeline Jones sounds bitter and histrionic. Really? Betrayed? The girl can lose weight if she wants to. Why should she stay fat just for other people in the plus size industry? Why does it have to be that she wasn’t comfortable in her own skin anymore, as if she’s some pathetically insecure bitch just for losing weight? Her preferences changed, BIG DEAL. Jones sounds like she’s pathetically insecure about her own weight. The world isn’t always a war between plus size and anorexia.
Though the editor is a bit over the top I don’t disagree with her some of these celebs/models do talk out of both sides of their mouths when it comes to this image especially weight loss. However if she wants to change she can but I think she looks terrible this skinny her face isn’t interesting anymore
I still think she looks remarkably like Russell Brand in certain photos at this weight lol
Ok, to be honest, I’ve lost respect for Crystal, too. Everyone has the freedom to lose weight at any point of their lives, but if you’re going to publish a book, bash the “regular fashion” world, tell everyone about your anorexic past and how recovery made you turn to plus fashion – in that case halfing your dress-size shortly after is going to make you appear a total hypocrite. People are going to question your credibility and lose sympathy.
But that PLUS editor sounds like a fanatic. Not in a good way. That speech is ridiculous and really emphasizes the message of their recently posted “superskinny vs. plus” spread.
Who cares, she lost weight and looks great. Her face on the other hand bugs me though, I think it’s bordering on unattractive and she can’t seem to keep that damn mouth of her’s shut. It just looks weird.
If Crysal Renn wants to be thin then that’s her choice. She was plus sized before but now she’s not. Get over it.
I’ve said it a million times and I’ll say it again: NO celebrity, no matter what size they are, should be seen as a role model for other women. The reason quite simply is that you cannot rely on them to stay the size they are. You can’t expect Victoria Beckham to lose weight to keep everyone happy and you can’t rely on Crystal Renn to stay big forever.
This editor sounds pathetic on one hand talking about ‘betrayal’ as though Renn is Brutus to her Caesar. But forgetting that crazy chick, and bearing in mind that Renn has been recovering from an ED I do still think she has shown some double standards. When she became plus size she didn’t just embrace her ‘curves’ she went militant bitchy on thinner women. I saw her on the ABC debate and she was spewing out more crap than a goat with the runs. An ED doesn’t take away your personality. If you’re a bitch then you’re a bitch, and she is. I also wouldn’t be surprised if her dramatic weight loss was a conscious decision, for her career or because she wanted to be a smaller size. That’s fine she can do what she wants but if you, as we say in Nigeria, make ‘shakara’ then don’t be surprised when it turns around and bites you back. The editor needs to get over the fact that Renn has decided to lose weight and recognise that it wasn’t her responsibility to stay plus size to please her readers and let this be a lesson to Renn to think twice before she starts mouthing off and perhaps now she knows how the thinner women she was previously slating feel..
Agreed Nkeon about the whole celebs as ‘role models’ thing. it always makes me roll my eyes when people whine about x and y being a ‘bad’ role model for young girls (always girls but never young boys eh). No sorry, they have their own lives to live, they’re not your family or friends and so don’t have any obligation to keep any of us ‘mere mortals’ happy! Plus, I’m pretty sure most celebrities are way more effed up than we are, I certainly don’t want to emulate them at all!
I agree also that Renn doesn’t have any obligation to remain plus-sized but this whole thing reminds me of Monique- remember her “skinny bitches die” nonsense and then she went and lost a crapload of weight?
Oh yeah! It is similar to the Monique situation now that you mention it. Like Renn, she’s free to do as she pleases, but if you’re going to attack the other side and then join it you really shouldn’t be surprised that you turn heads because you’ve been calling for them to turn with your remarks for a long time!
LET IT GO. sheesh, how long has it been?
She doesn’t look too thin. I think she just looks healthy. When I started recoverying from an eating disorder, I ballooned up in weight from binge eating and then when I started gradually (and naturally) stopping the binges and losing weight, everyone around me told me I was too thin, but I was just normal again.
she is blessed to have such a lovely face and look great at literally any weight on the broad spectrum. i agree with all of their statements though, she seems to be dishonest, somewhere down the road there was some manipulation or dishonesty, though i’m not sure when. for someone to be so honest while writing that book, she could atleast be honest about why she felt the need to change now. no one will judge you more for being honest, but likely they would sympathize/empathize.
Her face looks so…aged. It’s weird. Makes me think she used meth to lose weight. She used to look so fresh and beautiful.
This is utter bullcrap and EXTREMELY unprofessional! Nobody lives the life of Crystal Renn but herself and who are we to make assumptions about her weight loss and be bitter about it? Saying she “betrayed us”. That is god awful. This woman learned the importance of health and followed suit by incorporating healthy practices into her lifestyle and gradually lost weight. And she STILL fights for equality in the fashion world and diversity– and even better now, she promotes health. I think she is an EVEN BETTER role model than when she was plus size. And it is not like she is a stick figure! She looks SO HEALTHY. Just look at her in her new Sports Illustrated shoot! Her body still has curves and meat flaws. So why hate? She looks and seems happy.
I just lost A LOT of respect for Plus Model Mag. A LOT.
This woman assumes that Crystal was entirely motivated my more money and more jobs. While I imagine that those things were factors, I sincerely doubt that she lost the weight entirely (or even mostly) for those reasons. If that were the case, she probably wouldn’t have settled at an un-bookable 6/8. Her size is neither straight nor plus. If she had settled at a pluz-sized 10/12, or got down to a high fashion 0/2, then I’d believe that money was her motivation. As it is, I think this girl is just figuring out who she is, what she wants, and what makes her feel good about herself at the end of the day. She just happens to be doing all of this in the public eye.
Betrayed, haha. Dear god, fashion people take themselves so seriously.
When CR was big she probably tried to convince herself she was happy, and proud but deep down hated being overweight. She was kidding herself and knew she would be happier at a lower weight. And she isn’t even skinny right now, she is a normal healthy weight. Why would anyone be against that?
Why should she have to stay overweight just to please other overweight women? It isn’t her responsibility to make others feel better about themselves. She never singed a contract saying she would stay overweight forever.
before she was big and she couldn’t loss the weight so she want to act like super hero saving the big people from the fashion industry she always sucked her cheeks in to look sick and unhealthy but anyways now when she could loss the weight she’s acting I have peace with my body I’m love my body it’s really healthy and fit and i want to be normal blah blah she’s a fame wh**e like the rest of them she just want some attention.
She is obviously working extremely hard at her career which is modelling. She was once a plus sized model and worked extremely hard in that level of modelling and was very successful. Now that she has shed wait she is still working hard and gaining success. It is so foolish to point fingers at her and blame her for leaving the plus-sized world of modelling. A size 6 is perfectly healthy, and honestly a plus sized model is not 10 x healthier than a very thin model anyway. If someone is happy and healthy and working their butt off to make a living then who is anyone to judge them for it.
[...] From SkinnyvsCurvy: [...]
Wow i cant believe this woman is being such a bitch just because crystal has got over her ED and is happy and healthy again. what a fat, jealous bitch.
Leave the girl alone she probably relapsed ,she’s doing the best she can or she’s a health nut it could be anything none of you know so don’t assume you do
anorexia is a DISEASE and a daily struggle xx
Um, I went from a size 16 to a size 4 in a 10 month period and wasn’t that difficult to lose weight. All I did was stop eating the mountain of food that I consumed, and just became more active. I have now stayed at a size 4-5 for the past 3 years by doing yoga and bicycling every day.
