Christina Hendricks Is on a Diet
October 7, 2009 in Christina Hendricks by Versus

Oh oh… all you curvy lovers are probably a little worried – Will Christina lose her famous curves? Well, let’s hear the details!
Don’t worry, January Jones–Christina Hendricks has no intention of losing her curves. At an Emmy after-party on Sunday, the Mad Men actress told People that Christina’s “has gone on a diet” to prepare for her wedding. Her advice to her co-star: “Not to go too far, because if she loses her curves it will be a very sad day.”
Good thing Christina is totally content with how she looks. She told SELF, “My healthiest habit is keeping positive about my body at whatever stage it is–being confident and celebrating who I am at the moment.”
The sexy ’60s office manager–whose husband said she’s “changing people’s view of what’s beautiful”–did admit to switching up her diet, but not for her wedding, rather, a life change. Keep reading for the details!
Christina is a self-professed foodie, even though she grew up in a household where her mom made “very much Southern ’70s cooking, like fried chicken, mashed potatoes and quiche.” It wasn’t until she moved away from home that she realized there was a whole world of food out there. “Like vegetables!” she said. “My mom didn’t like them, so she hardly ever cooked them–and when she did, they would be overcooked. Now when she comes over and I make fresh veggies, she says, ‘These are the most delicious things I’ve ever had!’ So I’ve turned my mom on to vegetables, which is good.”
To stay healthy, Christina gets “inspired by” the seasonal recipes in cooking magazines and on sites like epicurious.com. “Otherwise, I’ll just go to the grocery store and look around for what’s beautiful and pick that up. Like rhubarbs!”
As for her diet, she started it “just for me, for my life. I feel like I need more energy, so I’m trying to stay away from tons of carbs and eat more protein.”
She also exercises three times a week with a trainer–and her fiancee! “It’s amazing how quick an hour can go by when you work out with someone you love,” she said. Their typical workout includes well-rounded cardio and strength development. “Working out together makes it fun!”
Christina’s perspective on health and fitness is pretty refreshing, huh? Not that she sees herself as a poster girl for curvy woman on TV. “At first, I thought people were calling me out and it made me feel uncomfortable that they were focused on it,” she admitted. “Then when I realized it was all positive and it was actually helping other people, it started making me feel great.”

More news on Christina coming up this week, so make sure you come back!

Curvy is great, I’m curvy myself. However, this is almost curve-overload. I don’t really see the appeal.
everyone is shaped differently. don’t let one person’s comment get to you.
Most people like her figure a lot!
See other posts too.
And be careful.Do not listen to the people:(that’s how i got an Ed when I was 13,5…
If you look at all the posts on here about Christina Hendricks you will see that most of them are positive….people LOVE her curves. You shouldn’t look focus only on negative comments…that will only bring you down. And for no reason, because there will always be a few people that don’t like something, but that’s true for any person, including thinner ones like Adriana Lima, Miranda Kerr…etc.
You can’t please everybody, remember that. You work with what you have. If you have big hips, I’m pretty sure it will pay off since lots of men love big hips. Just be good to your body and it will be good to you.
Don’t worry. Men LOVE curves. Even if pin thin is in style in our day, most people instinctively find curves attractive. It’s all about signs of fertility and stuff, but that’s not what matters. What matters is that curves are SEXY.
Please, don’t let a negative comment like that bring you down! There’s nothing wrong with you, you’re only 14! I had a body similar to that when I was 14 too.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
How many times have we heard this one before? “I’m trying to stay away from tons of carbs and eat more protein.” It’s what everyone in Hollywood does. Sooner or later, they all get sucked into the skinny machine. It’s so dull.
I don’t know about you guys, but that sounds healthy to me. Eat more veggies and work out? I can’t think of a doctor that would disagree.
I know you guys like her curves, but if they’re due to her eating Southern soul food, than I say screw the curves. Health > image. But if they natural, trust me, they’ll stick around.
I agree that eating more veggies & fruits and adding exercise to your lifestyle is a great way to go; it’s just one of those sad situations in Hollywood when you “lose” what you are famous for (like Julia Roberts losing her hair from Pretty Woman or Mikey Rourke’s face).
I see, I see. Well like I said, if her curves are due to a high-fat diet, than it’s worth the sacrifice because health always comes first. But it seems to me that she’s one of those people that are naturally curvy, so unless she just eats cabbage leaves, I’m sure she will retain most of her figure.
Yes, if the curves are natural (which I’m pretty sure they are) they will stay. I myself am quite curvy, and at one point I had a stomach disease and become severely underweight, but due to my curvy bone structure, I still had a tiny waist, broad shoulders, and hips
(Just very bony looking ones)
I don’t think this is a woman who is going to lose her curves anytime soon (or even has the desire to .. they’re what made many people take notice of her!). She seems like one of the lucky ones who stores fat in ‘ideal’ places on her body, so her proportions will always be curvy whether she loses or gains weight. I think she is setting a very good example by promoting a healthy, ‘average’ figure by eating healthy and exercising moderately. There are too many extremes in hollywood and it’s nice to see someone representing the middle-ground!
Good for her for wanting to loose the weight to look her best. I do agree though, she does seem to maintain the curves in the right places. Some “curvy” actresses / frequently appearing singers on this site tend to just look large and disproportionate instead of actually curvy.
Everyone has a different body type and looks different depending on how they hold their weight.
i actually hate it when women lose weight or change their looks for their wedding. they usually go right back to how they normally look as soon as that day is over. i’ve seen lots of brides get hair extensions or drop a lot of weight for their weddings, and then right after, their back to their old selves. i’m all for being healthy, as long as you stick with it, but i also think you should look like yourself on your wedding day
Why should you dictate how people act on THEIR wedding day?
This is as absurd as people who say:
People should look like themselves and not use hair colouring, look how GAAWD made you.
Um yeah. Thanks for your opinion, too bad people will do with their money and look as they please.
In her case i think it’d be healthier if she did a diet.. No fat please
No, fat is essential to your diet(a lot of nutrients are fat soluble). She can still eat fat, she just just needs to eat the right kind.
I agree with Instant; no dieter should strive to cut out all or most fat from their diet. Instead they should replace saturated fat with unsaturated fat, which is much healthier.
I think it would be a shame if she dropped weight. She is famous because of her extreme curves. The men love it!
Eating better doesn’t mean she has to lose weight. If she ate the same amount of calories in healthy food as she did in fried chicken, then she could maintain that body very nicely.
that pic looks pretty fake….like they enhanced the hips
If she losses her curves she will undoubtedly lose her appeal and become just another common actress. Her kind of curves won’t look that great on a skinny woman.
Aw Wow.
I know.
Just Aw Wow.
That’s good! skinny girls are better than fat woman.
