Charlize Theron Carries Meal Replacement Shakes and Brings Us Quotes
May 27, 2010 in Celebrity Quotes, Charlize Theron by Versus

Charlize Theron was spotted yesterday in LA while carrying a box of meal replacement shakes – what do you say: product placement or is she really using the stuff?
And a few weight quotes coming from 34 year-old Charlize:
‘Life is just as complicated for me as it is for any other woman out there and I wake up just like ever other woman sometimes and can’t fit into my jeans and feel fat and ugly and have bad days.’
‘I’m careful to eat a healthy balance of foods, but I eat six small meals a day.
‘If I fancy a burger, rather than deprive myself I’ll have a quarter of one.’
A quarter?!?! Share your thoughts!

It takes A LOT of discipline to stay that thin and sexy. I understand where she is coming from. Plus, at least she is being honest nistead of the recycled comment of “Lyk omg yeah i eat tonnes of hamburgers!”
instead*
No it does not. You can get to the same result through different ways. One is by being neurotic and having a hate-fear relationship with food.
The other is to be balanced, reasonable, enjoy life, but also exercise regularly. I’ve just returned from a trip to France. I enjoyed sampling all the lovely cheeses and breads and specialties. I also walked EVERYWHERE. I think I’m actually thinner (not that I wasn’t, size 2-4) and my legs are MAD toned. I’m also deeply relaxed, I haven’t even given a thought to calories, and portions and crap like that.
ORRR you can do it the Hollywood way. Religiously guard your calories, and mark even an extra lettuce leaf. Go to the restaurant and weigh your food. Eat a quarter of a burger. Throw bleach on half of your plate. Completely avoid major food groups. Eat a mouthfull of your favorite food and throw the rest away. ETC. I’ve read them all here mind you, they’re not invented.
100% with u suzushii..u’re so very right! people don’t know what easy things could be.. besides walking in the streets of Paris lumière…GOD!
U are right
What’s wrong with a quarter? It’s better than shoving that whole fattening thing in your mouth.
I’ll tell you what’s wrong: it’s the fact that she considers eating a quarter of a burger non-deprivation. The sole fact that she needs to cut it in 4 shows that she isn’t relaxed… and being stressed full-time when it comes to food is not ok.
If you want to eat it, eat the thing and stop worrying that one burger / month will ruin your figure or health.
I agree… I mean, come on! I’ve hear of “half portion” and I do apply it sometimes, but a quarter seems a little extreme… especially since she considers that INDULGING.
Not necessarily. You’re assuming she’s eating that quarter of a burger as a replacement for her regular meal, but she never said that. She might mean she’ll indulge by occasionally having a quarter of a burger *in addition* to her regular diet.
Plus, you don’t know what kind of burger she’s talking about. She might be talking about a restaurant burger. One burger at a restaurant (for example, the bacon cheeseburger @ Bistro Burger) can be over 1000 calories. I know if I’m going to splurge on a burger, I’d feel more satisfied having 1/4 of a really good (and usually really big) restaurant burger than eating an entire small cheeseburger off the McDonalds dollar menu. The difference in calories wouldn’t be all that significant, and it would taste a hell of a lot better.
Remember six meals on a 2000 calorie diet is only 333 calories per meal.
See…this type of thinking is ridiculous. Right here. Have the damned burger. Science dictates you won’t gain 10 lbs from it. Workout later if you must, but a burger a week won’t make you fat.
Don’t agree with the meal replacement shakes, but having with 6 small meals a day… I don’t see anything wrong with a quarter of a burger.
I think you’re making a lot of assumptions here. Thinking about portion size doesn’t automatically mean a person is stressed and obsessive.
I also eat lots of smaller meals instead of three big meals. I’m not forcing myself. It’s not a diet. That way of eating just comes naturally to me. I’m used to and comfortable with frequent, smaller portions. So if I get served a large restaurant portion, I’ll divide it up — not because I’m not relaxed. It’s just habit.
Frankly, when you’re used to having frequent, small meals, your stomach can’t handle a full restaurant portion. For the average, healthy woman who eats three square meals a day, a restaurant portion is usually about twice the size of her usual portion. Restaurant portions are ridiculous. If she’s eating six meals a day, a restaurant portion will be 3 to 4 times the size of her usual portion. She’ll make herself physically ill trying to eat the whole thing.
Ok if she feels satisfied after a quarter. Me, again, i’d rather eat the whole thing or not at all. And not all hamburgers are that bad. It’s the fast food culture and whole meals etc. A cheese burger might be like 400 kcal.. And have less saturated fat than some bagels.
Right, not all burgers are bad. I like to eat mine with chicken grill, tomatoes, lettuce or… I’ll have the small McDonalds hamburger which is less than 300 calories. It would be really funny to eat a quarter of that, lol.
LOL that would be 1 bite!
or you could make one yourself! I that’s what I’ll if a realy wanted a burger, it’s much healthier cause u can control what is in it and still make it tasty
A quarter seems a bit silly – I mean a half I could understand, but a quarter, whats the point? Personally I’d rather just allow myself the odd treat while being healthy most of the time. You gotta allow yourself some freedoms.
Well, sometimes you don’t need any more. That’s quite possible if you eat regularly and are not hungry by the time you feel like having a hamburger. Then, just a taste might be enough.
I don’t think she is wrong. I very often feel just the desire of eating something specific when I’m not even hungry. If I needed to lose weight, I would try the same.
It is just sad, a quarter of hamburger, a bite of pizza a teaspoon of desert and a lick of ice cream?
Wow wow wow don’t stick every women in the same boat. Some women wake up in the morning and fitting into jeans and the shape of their body is the last thing on their mind and the least of their worries.
And a quarter of a burger? What a waste of food and money.
woman*
thank you! there are some people (even women) who don’t think about their body 24/7. I used to think my body all the time, but now I don’t…there are many mornings that I dont even bother looking in the mirror because I simply forget. And I have to say that my clothes fit the exact same way every morning..if they feel differently to someone it’s because it’s in their head…
Yeah, its all how you feel. A lot of the times I feel like I’ve magically lost weight. I haven’t I have just become more accepting of my body. It is obsessive thinking to wake up off a morning and be concerned about your figure. A lot of the time not being so obsessive adds to your mental and physical health.
No kidding. It’s not worth the obsession. Just do everything in moderation and you’ll be fine. Geesh.
and yet here you are, commenting on other peoples bodies? just for fun. i know people who don’t think about it- they would nto be on here.
and reducing portions so it fits you is a personal thing. a lot of portions are way to big and its better that way rather than stretching your stomach and forcing it down. as for the size- a quarter- maybe as usual people are taking her too literally. she probably just means she cuts herself a piece- which probably varies from time to time and isn’t precisely measured.
And by posting on here I must clearly be obsessive? I try not to comment on peoples figures unless its a positive. I take this site as I do many other celebrity related sights, lightly. I have no qualms with my body and don’t revolve my life around body shape. This site is merely entertainment. Posting here is no reflection on my life beyond this page.
A quarter does seem a bit restrictive, but still, some burgers (not necessarily in McDonald’s type fast food places, but in real restaurants) can be HUGE.
Also, I don’t get the whole ‘not fitting in your jeans’ thing. I mean, if you’ve been steadily gaining weight for a while, alright. But do women just wake up some days and have gained so much weight that they can’t fit into their jeans? I mean, how tight do you have to buy them for that to happen?
I had a friend who would to up an entire pant size every time she had her period. In her case it wasn’t fat, just wacky hormones causing an unusually bad case of bloating.
Of course, she’s the only woman I ever knew with that problem, so I don’t know what Theron is thinking when she says “all women.” Maybe “all women” in the entertainment industry, since stars are often trying a million different diets and fluctuating all over the place.
I actually have always thought that was quite common. A definitely feel a lot less comfortable in my clothes during my periods. And i know lots of women who have the same problem, also happens if you’ve eaten a lot of salty foods the night before, like a party or such. It’s not like you couldn’t button your pants but they definitely feel tighter and sorta restricting.
she said any other woman, if you insist on being literal. i imagine she didn’t think people would be so pedantic pouring over and analysing every other word she says. she just means if you feel your clothes are getting a bit tighter, which to my mind means she doesn’t weigh herself constantly- which seems pretty healthy. i just go by how my clothes feel to monitor weight gain or loss.
Better a quarter, then spraying Windex on food.
Wow, lady just buy “Eat this, not that”. You will be able eat burgers under 500 calories. OMG! Or better yet just say “no mayo”, “no cheese” and you can eat the whole damn thing.
As for restaurants, you can look up many of them and find calorie counts. Most fast food chains have nutritional information on their website along with calculators. You can search the item and see how much it will “set you back”. I lost 80 pounds over a year a half and maintained it, still ate a burger when I wanted one. Try making it at your house too. They are normally far less fattening when made at home because you make them smaller.
Common sense isn’t so common I see.
why does this picture look so funky? does anyone see how the part where her shirt and car overlap, but it looks like you can see right through her body to the car? also, why does her body look so see through? weird. lol. btw, i was just wondering…lol.
LOL yeah weird pic. very weird.
and i don’t like hamburgers. so yes, even wanting a quarter of it sounds weird to me
Humans are biologicaly evolved to thrive on a diet
consisting mostly of raw fruit, raw vegetables, whole grains, peas/beans. Substituting marine fish like cod
for red meat works wonders when combined with all
that. I get cravings for burgers too. And if you eat
one say only on a Sunday it won’t make you predatory.
But red meat causes INFLAMATION of blood & tissues. There’s a PH balance of acid to alkaline in both the blood & tissues that’s essential to good health. That’s
why the green in the chloraphyl of plants is critical to
supressing the cravings for red meat. I’m a home brewer. I brew up naturaly fermented beer & soda when I have the time. I wouldn’t think of going even one day without drinking 2 12 ozs bottles of well hopped beer. Because hops are an alkaline bittering agent having a similar function as chlorophyl does to purify the blood. We German/Dutch have a saying: ” A healthy life is like a well crafted brew-always tasting bitter sweet “
Not really…. I highly disagree with you on several counts. I definitely believe in fermented foods(a traditional part of all cultures), and an acid/alkaline balance, but honestly your body naturally does a good job of keeping you there, unless you’re really unhealthy and completely out of wack.
Red meat doesn’t cause inflammation, (refined white sugar, flour, and improperly prepared and digested food does). An individual’s genetic predisposition for digesting foods certainly is impacted by ancestor origin, and there are minor differences between cultures, but, human beings generally evolved as hunters with an animal based diet. We did not start a more plant based diet until agricultural communities formed around 10,000 BC. And even then, around the globe, societies knew how to prepare food, many nuts, seeds, grains, and plants have enzyme inhibitors, and other factors that make their nutrients unavailable for the human body unless properly prepared beforehand. Some raw foods are excellent, like milk products, or fruit and some vegetables, but some are simply better cooked for proper digestion, and many seeds, nuts, and grains need to be at least soaked if not fermented, sprouted, etc. to be able to be digested. Many people simply look at the food itself without taking into account, 1) how it was grown/where it came from 2)their own physiology and nutritional needs/ancestry 3)how it is prepared/processed and eaten (that goes for vits/supps/fats and oils as well). For instance almonds are excellent for you….however pesticide sprayed, roasted in hydogenated oil and salted almonds, are awful for you. FOr optimal health, they have to be organic, raw (so as not to destroy the reactive doble bonded omega oil), and at least soaked with the skins removed (almond skin contains argenine which is an enzyme inhibitor to digestive processes.).
That said, animal products are essential for good health but must be properly, humanely/lovingly raised, on their natural diet (i.e. 100% pastured grass fed cows). You get cravings probably because your body wants/needs the meat. Balance, balance, balance is key to diet, (excepting durning cleanses or fasts).
Eating normally is not hard, at all. You can eat your flippin’ burger. Get lean meat and finish it off…otherwise you look like a complete obsessive lunatic. Eat in moderation and work out 4 times a week for an hour. You’re good to go. Do not waste food and don’t treat it like your enemy..or your best friend. Enjoy it but do not kill yourself over it. It is a necessity of life. I do not like how celebs make it seem like food is not important. Even though, they’re put on spot constantly, they should grow more balls and LIVE they’re lives.
i’ve lost 25lb recently and I usually have a big mac, a few glasses of wine and a few chocolates each week.
You can actually lose weight and eat junk food in moderation.
But I’d like to lose at least as much again, and I’m hoping that I can still have those treats that keep me sane!
I dunno, quarter of a burger does sound a bit sad to me, but then she has a smaller frame and needs less calories to maintain it, so i don’t know.
If you have to say “I’m just like everyone else,” then you’re not and obviously don’t think of yourself that way.
This is clearly product placement, and she is LAME for doing it and LAME for promoting a stupid product which promotes unhealthy habits for losing weight and uses her ‘celebrity power’ to sell it to girls and women.
She doesn’t need the money: this is just being greedy.
Never liked her anyway
Spot the photoshop fail…
I subscribe to the RealAge.com website. Dr.Oz & the other
natural health science professionals agree that red meat does
cause inflamation, and that the heavy saturated fats in beef not only lack oil soluable vitamins, but are proven killers. Eating red meat per se causes people to crave it. When I gave it up years ago, I stopped getting cravings for it and stopped addicting myself to it. My 6th House Constellation representing personal work/sickness/body type is Pisces. So I dig eating marine fish, which is extremely fortunate. It’s like eating a breakfast of flaxseed & wheat germ & plums-it’s loaded with Omega 3 oils, and oil soluable vitamins. Likewise eating cod & salmon. They put A,D,E,K, all the oil soluable vitamins in people’s fat tissues for metabolism when the body needs to use them. If you’ve ever seen the emaciated photos of Dennis Hopper, Paul Newman, Christopher Reeve before they passed away, then you’ve also seen what happens to people when they ignore the need for storing oil soluable vitamins in their flesh. You wouldn’t think of not stocking a
pantry with essential foods, why would you ignore stocking
yourself with them ? I’ve been a fan of Charlize Theron since
I saw the remake of Mighty Joe Young in 1998. When all the hype fades away, only the core remains. As Chinese wisdom
says: Until a person finds their center, their circle will not be
complete. It’s a matter of wholeness.
