Rachel Zoe Brings the Quote of the Day
July 28, 2010 in Celebrity Quotes by Versus

“I don’t think people should wear dresses two sizes too small so that it’s tight and you have that much cleavage in your face. I think sexiness is better left to the imagination.”
… says Rachel.
Who agrees, who disagrees?

That woman is emaciated. She’s only trying to explain her baggy, ugly clothes because she’s covering up her skeletor figure. Ick, woman is gross.
Agreed.
Agreed too!
Double agree!!
Yeah, I normally don’t stand for being critical of any woman’s body, but some of these celebs didn’t become so thin (Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie, for example) until Skeletor started styling them. The only way she could find clothes too small for her is in the toddler section.
she looks like a total sourpuss and she’s to blame for the size 0 trend, IMO.
Yes, Rachel is too thin and she’s not very attractive (especially the premature wrinkles which undoubtedly can be attributed to cigarettes). But, Americans are too fat and our concept of “normal” is about 20 pounds above a person’s healthy weight. Thus, what is healthy and normal now looks too skinny to us.
For instance….I have a size six skirt from 1986 that I can barely squeeze into, but a size 2 from the same company today is roomy on me.
Whatever.
I find the Zoe show highly entertaining after a long day at a stressful job.
So what do you consider normal? Because if Rachel Zoe is anything to go by, that’s would equal emaciated….
why do people always attribute horrible skin (on a celeb who smokes) to smoking? There are loads of celebrtities out there with good skin that smoke, honestly people seem to be forgetting that the number one cause of wrinkles is the sun. And lets not forget drugs and alcohol causing premature ageing – just look at lindsay lohan.
Evereyone in my family looks much younger than they are even though most of us smoke, well everyone looks younger except one, she doesnt smoke but she spends the whole summer sunbathing ever since she was about 18 and now she has sundamaged, dry looking skin with lines in her forehead. Smoking is obviously unhealthy and its best if you dont smoke, but really I can’t see smoking being responsible for rachel zoe and her leather face. She makes me sick she looks like she works for satan…btw. lol
lindsey lohan doesn’t smoke???
i didnt say whether lindsay smokes or not (im pretty sure she does though, ive seen a photo of her with a cigarette), but she definately has a drug/alcohol problem and she looks about 15 years older than she is because of it
The number one cause of wrinkles isn’t the sun, smoking, or any other outside source. The true number one cause of wrinkles is your genetics. Period.
Maybe we forget that most of them had botox, fillers or other substances injected and therefore do not show wrinkles? Few are genetically blessed to get them very late in life, most show ageing with ageing – which means it changes from the day we are born to the day we die. Hydrate and enjoy life:)
ok, I’m thin, but people like her and Kelly Ripa always look so painfully tiny to me. I saw KR this morning on TV and she was drowning in her dress! She looked like the scrawny Christmas tree that nobody wants. I’m not American and am actually underweight, so this isn’t coming from some deluded fatty. She would look better with a little more weight on her frame. Even a skinny girl can recognize when someone has taken it too far.
I would agree. Obviously she’s not the sole factor for the uber-thin trend, but when she started styling certain celebs 4 to 5 years ago, some began dropping weight like crazy. I try to take rumors with a grain of salt, but seeing as she’s so emaciated herself, I tend to believe that she’s told clients they need to drop weight to fit into sample sizes.
yes, but if she was styling me, i would want to gain weight!! How can looking, (and i am sorry zoe) but truly terifying make someone want to lose weight? No one could want to look like her.
i love all shapes and sizes tall small skinny thin tonedd athletic curvy wateverrrr reallyy my girl zoe is scared of curves theres nothing to be scared abouttt why cant people just except there natural shape and dress for it let women be free and stop torturing ourselvesss and cristising other people
I only like some of the baggy clothes she wears, when it seems like the clothes are meant to be that way, but she takes it too far, and overaccessorizes imo, nevertheless i agree with her quote. I don’t think there’s anything sexy in squeezing into a dress a size or two too small, much better to take a bigger size and look all the more fabulous, no matter how skinny you are (meaning even if you have no fat that would create rolls the outfit can looks too small and tight, obvious imo but sometimes i feel like not everybody thinks so)
You also don’t have to wear your clothes two sizes too big………
Or is that because they don’t do her size in the adult section?
I despise this woman – she is extremely unhealthy, and she encourages other young women to ravage their bodies, too. She’s been a negative influence on many young celebrities, her being a factor in them developing anorexia, like Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan and Mischa Barton. I know you can’t completely blame her for other celebs’ eating disorders, but she DID contribute to it (it’s a coinsidence that virtually ever star who got involved with her developed anorexia). It’s a proven fact that humans will believe something if they’re told it often enough, see it all the time – that’s why children grow up influenced by the media and TV, and women who are emotionally abused by their husbands start to believe they are ugly, useless, will never find another man. Celebrities are surrounded by (often unhealthily) thin people all the time; it’s all they know and it’s normality to them. So when you’ve got someone like Rachel Zoe constantly telling you, “Loose 20 pounds and you’ll be down to a size zero, you’re not thin enough for this industry, you’ll look fabulous in these clothes at a zero” etc etc, you can see how it would chip away at these unstable young actresses.
As for her comment, i do agree with it. It’s always best to be classy. People who show too much flesh end up looking cheap, trashy and common – it speaks volumes about you. You want to come across as a classy woman. Show a little boob, not a lot – don’t have them popping out lol! And you can wear a short skirt, it just doesn’t have to be like underwear and almost reveal your butt. I mean, if you’re all on show, what is there left for a guy to discover? What has he got to wonder about?
I agree with her quote….but I also don’t think women need to drown themselves in baggy clothes…such as Rachels dress about 10 sizes too big…geez…I like laid back slouchy looks..but the dress looks terrible ugh

i was thinking the same thing! I really despise the way she dresses, I don’t understand what makes her such a ‘fashion icon’. She is always hiding her body…but on the other hand that would be typical behavior for someone who has a disordered relationship with food.
I love wearing loose clothing it’s more comfortable.. so what if ppl wear clothes thats too tight or loose.. it doesn’t hurt other ppl. And yes she has an ed but thats her business.. the majority of Americans are fat. And I so agree with women thinking of themselves as healthy or calling themselves “curvy” when they are 20 pounds overwt… thats fat. Curvy is different.. that word gets thrown around.
I’m sorry but I agree with Lovisa not that I feel that necessarily she’s the sole factor or reason for the size zero because to me Kate Moss inadvertently started the trend when she was cast in that infamous Calvin Klein Ad. Furthermore the whole Heroin Chic in my has never really gone always and always tethers with being in style and not so much. But it sure doesn’t help that when she started styling Nicole and Lindsay they dropped weight to fit into size zero sample sizes thus she’s been rumored to slipping her clients clenbuterol and coccaine/crytal meth. All in all she’s drifted away from her skinny minny clientele given that nowadays her clients have diff body shapes i.e. Cameron Diaz, Eva Mendes and Katie Holmes among others.
She couldn’t possibly find clothes two sizes smaller than her lol but I do agree with her I hate when people do that it looks super trashy. I also agree with the other commenters about her influence on Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan and Mischa Barton, it just seems too much of a co-incidence that everyone she has styled became so thin.
Children’s sizes, dear.
Children’s sizes.
Ugh, she looks so gaunt and unhappy all the time. She shouldn’t be forced to admit her problem publicly (I cringed when Joy Behar asked her outright on The View. Like she’s going to say yes???), but it is hard to see someone like that.
ps this is going to sound really bitchy but Rachel Zoe has never looked sexy lol
A fashion tip from someone who obviously endorses anorexia. Why listen to these “nut cases” from Hollywood?? Half of them should be locked up, and never seen from again.
You think that being told not to wear clothes two sizes too small is bad advice? O_o
I do agree with her quote, we get to see too much these days…
she look awful ¿why take fashion advice from someone who dress like that?
She’s seriously so thin that I don’t think anything could ever be tight on her. XD She’s a good stylist but I don’t think she knows how to dress her own body.
Why is it that people have come to think that saying they are underweight or thin adds more credibility to their comments? It’s like everyone is afraid of being told they are just a ‘deluded fat person’. Does this mean you need to be a certain size to be taken seriously on a forum full of faceless people?
In a sense, yes. Weight is just like any other identifying characteristic. It’s more common now for people to include it as a descriptor, esp. since you are faceless. Just as in real life, people are going to take certain opinions differently knowing where they’re coming from. Who do you take more seriously: a slim, fit looking nurse giving you health info (for example), or a fat one who doesn’t look like she follows her own advice?
plus there’s the whole idea of having to prove yourself online, yadda yadda yadda… although anyone can say anything, but I don’t know why anyone would lie about being underweight or too thin unless they think it’s cool.
She wants girls down to 00 or 0 so they can’t possibly wear anything 2 sizes too small! haha
But truly a good thought, a bit more covered is a whole lot sexier. Although rachel doesn’t have an ounce of cleavage to be in anyones face!
That’s a good point, Anon. That’s mostly why I avoid this site, because for the most part the people who post here are sick.
I AM anorexic and very underweight and I for one hate Zoe with a vengeance. She promotes the false idea that anorexia is somehow a “lifestyle” and can be a sustainable way of living, which is full of shit. What a vapid, shallow, unhappy woman–not for having a eating disorder but promoting it. BEING THIN DOESN’T MAKE YOU HAPPY. And yes there is an obesity epidemic in this country, but that’s only thrown in our face 3,000 times a day. Being a size 6 doesn’t make you “fat,” and being a 00 won’t make you any more fulfilled. Moreover, it’s a cultural embarrassment that a size like 00 exists.
Lots of things contribute to wrinkles. Excessive repeated weight loss or gain; smoking; drug and/or alcohol use; sun exposure; not taking proper care of your skin and, of course, genetics. There isn’t just one cause.
As for Rachel Zoe, she’s entertaining, but annoying. Definitely, emaciated and a bit looney. She looks like she shops in the toddler section. Not very womanly and she talks like a 12-year-old Valley girl.
Yeah, If anyone knows how to look sexy it´s Rachel Zoe ….
Coming from someone who CAN’T FIND a dress that’s two sizes smaller than their own means NOTHING. She has no boobs, no butt, NOTHING. I mean some women are just naturally petite, those are the cute ones. The ones with more womanly figures are bombshells. Everyone has their own shape. STOP TALKING CRAP ABOUT EACH OTHER. Skinny girls… You’re never gonna have the boobs/butt you want (unless you buy them, which is never cute cause you can feel the bag under the skin), and size 6+ (cause apparently that’s a “medium size” i’m a size 8, so don’t even get mad at me) women, you’re never gonna be as skinny as the girl who can look good in baggy tops! It’s all about finding clothes that look good on YOU. Don’t try to emulate what famous people are wearing. More than half of it doesn’t even look good on a day to day basis unless you live in a metropolitan area, and you’re surrounded by shallow people.
