Cate Blanchett Brings the Quote of the Day
May 11, 2010 in Celebrity Quotes by Versus

On plastic surgery:
“I haven’t had anything done, but who knows,” she said. “Andrew (her husband) said he’d divorce me if I did anything. When you’ve had children, your body changes; there’s history to it… I think it’s important not to eradicate it.
“I look at someone’s face and I see the work before I see the person. I personally don’t think people look better when they do it; they just look different.”
… says 40 year-old Cate.

I like her honesty. Never say never. Plastic surgery is not as bad as it is always mentioned. What about your teeth? Is getting them done so different from removing a few wrinkles?
Clearly I like a natural aged face a lot more than a barbie, but I will not damn someone, who gets a little improvement.
Btw, Cate looks as great as always. A classic beauty.
I absolutely agree with her, but somehow I don’t believe she hasn’t had Botox. If not, good for her.
For me, her forehead and the area around her eyes and mouth is a little too smooth.
Somehow I think all those interviews like “I haven’t had plastic surgery, but I might will some day”, are just a way to avoid all the gossip about it.
Oh, and her husband would divorce her, if she had surgery? I hope that was a joke. He probably just wanted to comfort her, but it’s her body and she gave birth to their three kids. So if she wants to do it it’s her own choice.
her husband was definitely joking…i think that unless plastic surgery is absolutely neccessary it shouldn’t be done.
imo it’s very self-indulgent and there should be change undergone psychologically in order to deal with the insecurity that initially triggered the want to have it.
im sure many of you will disagree, i wouldn’t be surprised if half the people who visit this site have considered it, but i just think if you lead a really healthy lifestyle normally you age well any way..
besides why is there a want to look young forever or to change the face you were given…it’s who you’re meant to be and aging is part of life. people should enjoy every stage of life instead of trying to procrastinate what inevitably will happen anyway..
i have seen photos of her on magazine covers and articles and she does have lines around her eyes and several on her forehead. what people forget is that the camera is a natural airbrush, small details such as fine lines unless in extreme close up are usually erased. i honestly believe that if anyone in hollywood hasn’t had botox it’s probably her. though the one thing they never really say even when being honest is that being attractive, is important to most women, to their confidence and security, and she will work at maintaining it.
the line of what is acceptable changes with every generation and eventually i believe we will reach a place where not getting botox will be like having buck teeth and not getting them fixed- ie unacceptable.
I share her opinion, often if someone has had work done, i see the work rather than the person as a whole at first, but it depends of course, a suttle change is a different thing. I adore her, she always reminded me of K. Hepburn so i was thrilled to see Cate portray her in the Aviator
*subtle
if she han’t had anything, I dont think she needs any either
she’s incredible. i’m pretty sure this is an old quote. regardless, i love her honesty and agree with her opinion. it’s true, plastic surgery doesn’t necessarily make you look better.
Botox is not surgery. So yeah, many celebrities can say they haven’t had any plastic surgery, botox is not plastic surgery. I really don’t mind people who do botox, as long as it looks good.
She is so beautiful and intelligent.
I have a lot of respect for Cate Blanchett.
of course if you get huge boob implants or a bad lifting then yes…..ppl will only look @ that
but other stuff…is ok
I am in love with this woman. I like her opinions regarding cosmetic surgery and she seems to have a good grasp on things. I wouldn’t doubt it if she hasn’t had anything done. Pale skinned women who never tanned while they were young usually age better.
