Earlier this week, comedian Joy Behar commented on The View that Jessica Simpson gained too much weight during pregnancy, calling her ‘fat’. Tori Spelling (who got pregnant with her forth child a month after giving birth) jumped to defend pregnant Jessica:

“When women are pregnant, people need to lay off. It’s a really special time and you should be able to deal with it in your own terms. You just have to wear it proud and go with it. Every body is different. As far is weight, you never know what is going to happen. You can’t control what angle people are snapping your photo from.”

Jessica Simpson, who will give birth in a month, recently told the press that she gained 40 lbs / 18 kg during her pregnancy up until this point. 3 months ago, when the blonde beauty posed naked for Elle Magazine, she was at 170 pounds / 77 kg at 5’3” / 160 cm.

More details from NY Daily News:

“I had a great pregnancy. Eating and not having to worry too much about it has been fun. Taking a break from working out has definitely been fun. But I’m ready for it to be over. I’m ready to have my body back!” she told the magazine, adding that she’s since gained 40 pounds.

Jessica also recently discussed her headline-making photo shoot for Elle magazine, in which the mom-to-be posed nude and pregnant on the April cover.

“They didn’t even ask me to do that,” she told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show. “It was my idea. It kind of just seemed a natural thing for me to do. I’m like 170 pounds and I wanted to pose nude.”

“It’s funny to be at your heaviest and feel the most confident,” she said. “I just take such pride in being a mom! I just love my body more than ever now.”

Pregnant Jessica Simpson has been receiving a lot of ‘are you having twins?’ questions, since she appears to have a large baby bump – but she has a different explanation – From US Weekly:

Though her extra large baby bump may indicate otherwise, Jessica Simpson still has about four weeks to go before she gives birth.
Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! Monday, the pregnant 31-year-old said she’s growing tired of her pregnancy curves. “I feel I have a bowling ball sitting on my hoohah!”

Simpson laughed. “Apparently I have a lot of amniotic fluid, so whenever my water breaks it will be like a fire hydrant!”

Simpson isn’t nervous about going into labor, though. “I’m ready to push!” she told host Jimmy Kimmel, 44.
Though Simpson and fiance Eric Johnson, 32, have temporarily put wedding plans on hold, the former NFL player “feels like my husband already,” the singer said. “We are just doing it a little bit backwards.”

The Fashion Star mentor appeared on the talk show just one day after her star-studded baby shower. “It was a Charlotte’s Web thing. We had a whole fair,” the Texas native said. “We had fried Oreos!”

On taking tabloid criticism:
“I’m still standin’,” she drawls. “I grew up very strong! You know, my father used to be an adolescent therapist. I remember sitting at his office, watching the girls walkin’ in and out. Kids doin’ coke at 16…heroin. Pregnant at 14. I could see what I didn’t want to be.”

Almost-8-months pregnant Jessica Simpson told US Weekly about her intentions of launching a maternity line and about as her pregnancy body transformations:

When Jessica Simpson tunes in for the premiere of NBC’s Fashion Star March 13, her body won’t look anything like it does now.

“I wasn’t pregnant when we shot it. It will be amazing to see myself with a waistline,” the 31-year-old said during a conference call Thursday. “I’ll be like a big blob sitting on the couch watching myself thin.”

“The point of launching a maternity line, for me, is to do something different,” Simpson explained. “I’m not buying any maternity clothes. I’m wearing all clothes that come in bigger sizes. I really want to make a maternity line that’s comfortable, but really stylish for people, because I believe that we all deserve to feel good and look good.”
