Skinny VS Curvy

A while back, Jordin (who is 5’11” and a US size 12, according to most sources) gave some tips to plus-size girls on how to dress for their shape. The tips are a little old, but Jordin gives some great advices, definitely worth posting. Here they are: 

1. Baggy clothes can make you look bigger. You want something that hugs you in all the right places — just not too much, where it’s too tight and you’re hanging out all over!”

2. I have a tiny waist in proportion to the rest of my body, so I like to wear corsety things that hug my waist.

3.  Darker types slim your legs down. A lighter wash jean makes everything look bigger.

4. V-necks give you an elongated neck. A crew neck can look like it’s choking you!

5. Dainty necklaces are nice. Chunky ones cut (your figure) up.”

AMA = American Music Awards – and here are the ladies in long dresses on the red carpet:

Ali: The pinkest dress I’ve ever seen. And here I was thinking that you can’t possibly beat Paris!

Alicia: Perfect cut for her pear body shape.

Christina: The fuchsia lipstick was replaced by dark burgundy – do we love it?

Pink: Bumpy butt profile!

Mariah: Tight, cleavagy, you know, Mariah’s style. But it’s not short and it’s not 2 sizes too small!

And we were thinking that the red carpet was only made for strapless and backless evening dresses – Wrong! Here is Jessica Simpson in a warm and comfortable wrap-coat with a furry collar.

We aim to present a wide range of celebrity body shapes around here – and even if Raven doesn’t perfectly fit in our curvy category, I’m pretty sure that she’s got a common body type.

Looking at these pictures of Raven, I’m immediately thinking that she’s got a typical V body shape – we can call also call it reversed triangle or cornet: wide shoulders (virtually wider than the hips), large bust, broad back – long story short, she carries more weight in her upper half.

Now a sleeveless dress that embraces the hips isn’t exactly a MUST BUY and MUST WEAR on the triangle body shape. But what would be ideal for Raven?
