Anne Hathaway, whose weight fluctuated visibly in the past years, shares a few weight and beauty image-related thoughts with us:

My identity used to be shaped on my appearance so much. I don’t think I was shallow – I just think I was young. I focus on other things a lot more now. I’ve hit the point in my life where I understand that being skinny is not sustainable, and nor is it advisable, and nor is it enjoyable,’ she said.

‘From the age of 25 to 27 – and this is a little embarrassing to admit – I looked under my eyes every single day, because I thought, “It’s going, it’s going, it’s going! And then I realised the other day they’re not wrinkles; they’re smile lines. If you look at pictures of me from a young age, I’ve been smiling the same way since I was little. And I had that wonderful moment when you realise, “That’s who I am.” Botox would erase that.’

Anne Hathaway is Vogue’s covergirl this month and she wows us with her big smile and elegance. Here’s a little quote from Anne:

On aging in Hollywood: “I’m entering a new phase of my career where the stories are becoming a lot more specific about where the character is in her life,” Hathaway says. “People don’t always want to tell stories about women in their 30s and 40s and 50s. Obviously, some of those ages are pretty far off for me, but I know it’s coming. What I’ve observed and what I’ve imagined—and definitely what I’m hoping—happens as you get older is that there’s a mellowing, an acceptance that comes with time,” she says. “I guess that I’ll find out.”

“I think I’ve got really weird features. I have very large features on a very small head,” she tells the magazine. “But, you know, I’m not going to beat myself up. It’s my face. I’m not very pretty. But that’s OK because I do know that I look like myself, and I think at the end of the day, as nice as pretty is, authenticity is more important.” The self-effacing actress continues: “If I don’t work out at all, I have too much curve and no tone—which is not OK. It’s about finding balance.”
