Beyonce Shares Her Body Secrets… or, at least, that’s what Self Magazine says.
Wanna hear them? Here are a few highlights from the interview:
She puts in the work. To get a tour-worthy body–one that can handle singing and dancing at the same time–the star works out five days a week with her trainer. Those workouts include 100 squats, step-ups and walking lunges (each!).
She makes it fun. An upper body workout can get boring with all those repetitions, so Knowles added her own twist. “I’ll put on a song that I really like and do [biceps curls with] 5-pound weights the whole song,” she told us. Or, using 3-pound weights, she’ll box for the length of one track.
She knows how to motivate herself. What’s the point of running, if you’re not running towards something? Knowles keeps a painting of an Oscar at the gym, so she’s literally running towards her next goal. “I look at it, and I’m like OK, I have to stay in shape,” she admits.
She’s consistent. From the beginning of rehearsals on January 19 to the start of her tour on March 26, Knowles practiced her choreography for nine hours a day, seven days a week–while wearing 5-inch stilettos. Think it’s tough to make it through the workday? That’s 603 hours in heels! The star admits, “When I come home and take them off, I’m like, “Oh, my God! I wish I could just chop my feet off!”
She understands the importance of confidence. Transforming into Sasha Fierce is more than putting on a teeny-tiny costume and sky-high heels. To become her alter ego, Knowles rehearses her sexy walk. “It’s about self-esteem,” she instructs. “It’s in the hips. Lean back, stretch your neck, keep your shoulders low, point your toes and cross one foot in front of the other.” Anyone can do it!
“To me, it’s sexier when it doesn’t look like you go to the gym. If you look like you’ve been spending a lot of time in the gym, then it just looks like you spend a lot of time in the gym. (laughs) So I never want to get to that point where it’s not natural. I think it’s important to feel like a woman, as well as look like a woman.”
“When I’m completely overwhelmed and tired, comfort food helps. I’ll want to have some ice cream. Or when the tour is behind, I’m like, I just want some Krispy Kremes! [Because] there’s too much good food out there to never indulge. When I’m off, I feel like I’ve earned [the right] to eat what I want, and I give myself a certain amount of time.”

That sounds unrealistic.
Hahaha! Mean… but somewhat true.
She’d need more than an amazing body (which she already has). She’d have to be miraculously infused with an amazing amount of NATURAL acting talent to actually achieve that… but perhaps given the right role? Hmmmmm….

sounds pretty reasonable and that article actually sounds legit. although when it comes to celebrity exercise routines i immediantly blank out reading the reps and stuff hahaha

You have to be kidding right? Someone who is on tour dancing and signing at the same time for 2 hours every night doesn’t work out and isn’t in incredible shape? Plus, all of the practicing to prepare for the concert…? I am so sick of people saying Beyonce is “fat” or “chunky.” It is so far from the truth and reality it amazes me! What has the world come to? Or view of women is so distorted. I feel so bad for children that will be raised in households that think like you do. They will have a hell of a lot of insecurities.

Well she didn’t get that muscle tone and a firm butt from slouching in KFC all day! Form some reason people always associate working out with having a slender size 8 body! Someone may be working out but not necessarily creating a large calorie deficit to lose a lot of weight. It also depends on body type and your bone structure. Someone with a larger bone structure even with a lot of weight loss won’t look as slim as someone following the same diet/exercise plan with a smaller frame.
Beyonce probably works to keep in shape, not to lose loads of weight and it sounds like she does more toning than cardio. Her frame is also bigger than other celebs so even at her fittest she won’t have the skinny look.
It’s so weird that she works out that much to maintain a BMI of, maybe, 23. She must eat A LOT. I have a BMI of 22.5 and I maintain it without exercising at all.
PRECISELY!! I Have beyonces type of body, it takes forever and a lot of work to lose weight to your standards. In fact it has been shown in some scientific studies in america, that most (not all) black women have a lot of i think is called adenosine which slows down their rate of weight loss in comparison to white women!! Bet you didnt know that, bet u thought u have to eat like an elephant to have a bmi of 23 which is in fact, well within the healthy range! i know people who eat like elephants and have a bmi of almost 19! rememer when she did the maple syrup diet, she still looked as you say “chunky”, bet if people like you did that, u would waste away to a size zero in no time! so …before u go thinking we are all the same, think again. whats healthy for you, maybe unhealthy for me to attain without resorting to unhealthy drastic measures. I am not joking.

I much rather be curvy, fit and healthy.
Not sure what you are getting at but I have a BMI of around 23 and work out a lot. I eat the amount of calories needed so sustain where I’m at.
If you have a lot of muscle then you are not going to have a BMI of 19 are you. Being a lower weight doesn’t mean you are less flabby or fitter especially if you never exercise.

I totally believe that she works out a lot because, as a performer, she needs to work on her endurance.
Also, you can spend a lot of time in the gym without looking like Mike Tyson….. and regarding her weight, let’s remember that muscle is way heavier than fat, which could explain her BMI.
if you’ve ever seen beyonce in person which i’ve did you would no that she’s not chunky or fat. she’s a nice size. it looks like shes a size 6. which is perfect. she has weight in all the right places so stopppp hating! go bey! ur beautiful. I would die for a body like yours.
I get tired of people trying to say this woman wears a single digit size. Beyonce is nothing less than a size 16! She has openly admitted on Larry King Live to wearing two pairs of panty hose, girrdles, etc. just to stay in place. Everyone is not meant to be small. Look at Jane Russell (20), Marilyn Monroe (16), Jayne Mansfield, Sophia Loren, Raquel Welch. All of these women are undeniably sexy, and you didn’t hear anyone trying to fabricate sizes for them. They just looked good, and so does B. I don’t recall any man trying to kick any woman out of bed based on body size.

when i look in the mirror and compare my self to beyonce she looks skinner then me, but im a size 6 jeans!
